When she was sixteen, she ran away. Her father had a tyrannical hold over his crew, and she refused to turn out like him and inherit the fleet. She lived in Paris, doing her best to survive. Then she met him. Dominio. He took her in and fed her. She could tell he wasn't a bad person, despite his reputation. He became obsessed with the Scarlet Sapphire. She had to find it first, before he went completely crazy. Personality: She is a very kind and soft-spoken person. Her first mate is often mistaken as captain for this reason. However, when one of her crew members is in danger, she will drop everything. She can easily hold her own in a fight. Weapon(s): A cutlass along with two daggers on her thighs and a pistol on her hip. [/size][/center] [center][size=4] @chaoticpotato Name: Jazmine Everton Age: 20 Gender: Female Appearance: Jazmine is about 5'8", with black hair and cyan eyes. She has naturally fair skin that has been tanned from years out at sea. She has scars on her back that are mostly hidden, but the tips of some can be seen on her shoulders when she wears a tank-top. Jazmine will very rarely wear a coat, opting for a short or no-sleeved shirt, and donning a hat. She wears typical pirate legwear, with a handkerchief on her left hip, and she is usually barefoot. A beaten scabbard holds her cutlass on her right hip, and her flintlock pistol is slightly behind that. She has twin daggers strapped to her back, ready to be pulled at a moment's notice. Usually boasting a cocky grin, Jazmine seems lighthearted and worry-free. Fleet Joined: Evera Job: First Mate/ Quartermaster Backstory: Jazmine lived a typical life for most of her childhood. She helped her parents when she could and often watched her younger siblings. As they fell on hard times, her parents grew more and more distant, eventually selling Jazmine and her siblings into slavery. Jazmine was the first to be carted off, never to see her family again. As she bounced around from country to country, Jazmine never had a home for long. Eventually, when being transported on a slaver's ship, she was kidnapped by pirates. It wasn't long before they were attacked by Evera's ship, and Jazmine was taken aboard. Jazmine joined the crew, unsure that she would be able to integrate into "normal" society after everything she had been through. Personality: Jazmine acts tough and full of herself, but she's actually pretty insecure. While fairly intelligent, she never got the chance to learn how to read, and her learning is stunted. While she can come off as violent, Jazmine prefers not to kill anyone. She keeps mostly to herself but will strike up a conversation if approached. Jazmine hopes to someday return to land and settle down but doesn't find herself ready to do so. Weapon(s): Cutlass, flintlock pistol, two daggers. His father, once a humble fisherman, turned to piracy when the fish dried up. It eventually became a way of life, with no one looking for a way out. Rick was born into this. He believed that the only way to live life was on the high seas, in a high-stakes adventure, seeking out the most valuable treasures. This was his moral compass, and he lives by it with all of his being. Personality: While not cruel, Rick is harsh. He has an in-built belief that the weak have no place in the world and that the strong have every right to take what they want. His loyalty is palpable, and he chases the most profitable situation, often forgoing safety in exchange for money. He doesn't spend, oddly enough, but rather, accumulates wealth to the point that he could comfortably retire. Weapon(s): Pistol, cutlass Other: Uh... No? Not really. [/size][/center] [center][size=4] @wispexe Name: Violet Graces Age: 19 Gender: Male Appearance: A young man with black hair and pale blue eyes. He stands at about 5’5”. Violet has medium-tone skin, although it is tanned from his time at sea. Physically, he’s a bit lanky and he doesn’t really have any muscle on him. Don’t let that fool you, though—he’s quick and surprisingly strong. Fleet Joined: Evera Job: Musician Backstory: Violet was into the family of a minor noble. Tired of his boring life, he decided to join the crew on their quest for the Scarlet Sapphire. Nothing too crazy or special. Personality: A fairly polite and friendly person, not easily angered nor temperamental. Violet holds no grudges and gets along fairly well with most people. Although he may appear delicate and formal, his combative skill is nothing to laugh at, brutally taking down his opponents all while keeping his calm and composed demeanor. Weapon(s): He keeps a knife strapped to his leg and a pistol at his side, but his main weapon...is his guitar. And I don’t mean using some kind of musical enamoring or whatever, he straight up smacks his enemies with his guitar. More than a few people believe that it’s somehow magically indestructible. [/size][/center] [center][size=4] @FluffyPillows Name: Jean Romano Age: 19 Gender: Female Appearance: Stands at about 5'7", with a slim, athletic build. [img]https://i.imgur.com/yjsNGkm.png[/img] Fleet Joined: Dominio Job: Navigator Backstory: Jean was found as a baby at the doorstep of the governor of her town's house. No one knows where she came from, or who her parents were. But she was found she was marked as a pirate by the burn on her wrist, the governor quickly sentenced her to death. A blur of red and suddenly Jean was growing up on a pirate ship. She has kept the name of that fleet a secret, though. Jean had always wanted to learn to use the guns and swords on deck, but in her being a girl, the men were reluctant, saying that it was too easy for her to be manipulated. So for years, they stuck with educating her. Jean then became the 'brains' of her crew's operations. But after a few years of asking, they finally started to train her. Jean is now one of the best swordswomen there is. She went out to make a name for herself. She was known as Jean Romano. The last name was given to her as a nod to her merciless and strategic fighting style, much like the Romans. Her crew was massacred before her eyes. Her family gone, all killed by men she didn't know. They only smiled at the girl as they drove a sword through the captain's – who was much like her father's – heart. That made Jean dawn the hood and mask and join Dominio's crew. They were so young, so innocent. When she heard about them, she couldn't let another crew go down as her's did. Personality: Jean used to be a perky, kind, warm, and friendly young woman. However, now, she rarely speaks, normally observing and studying everything all the time. Well, when she doesn't have her nose buried in a book or a map. Sometimes, her fierce personality will shine through when she spars with her fellow crewmates. She is a stubborn woman, who is smart and freakishly clever. She's great at reading people, even if she can't see their face. Though, she is very hard to read herself. Even though she may seem strong and scary on the outside, she is partly a broken, hollow, empty girl with bad anxiety and who is very self-conscious. Weapon(s): Pocket pistol, dual swords (given to her by the captain of the ship she grew up on; These are very special to her), three daggers: One strapped on the outside of both legs, and one on the underside of her left arm, hidden under her shirt. Other: She always wears a black hood and silver mask over her head and face ever since she joined Dominio's crew. This is rarely removed. [/size][/center] [size=4][center] @FlamesEmbrace Name: Kado Konpaku Age: 21 Gender: Male Appearance: [img]https://i.imgur.com/b1m24tQ.png [/img] Stands at around 6'3" with a relatively muscular build, and dresses in various shades of red and black clothing. The shirts of which usually lack sleeves in order to reveal the assortment of burned symbols that coat the tips of his fingers to the front and back of his chest. Thick leather bracers cover his lower arms from wrist to elbow. Fleet Joined: Evera Job: Navigator Backstory: A former member of the Shikaken fleet, Kado grew up around and on sailing vessels. His father was one of the sailors assigned with the protection of the crew and the goods that they were transporting from Europe to Asia during the year long trips back and forth. At first he gained his keep by being a cabin boy, cleaning and assisting older sailors when he wasn't having lessons with his father. At the age of eleven the navigator for one of the ships took Kado under his wing as a favor to the boys father and began to teach him. Learning how to read maps and other tools for navigation was completely different from what the boy had been learning previously and he spent years mastering the art until the dissolution of the Shikaken Shipping Company left him orphaned at the age of 18 in Egypt with no ship and barely any coin. He stayed in the ports for a time, doing a few odd jobs here and there, and learning a few new things before finally joining up with Evera's ship when the need to return to the sea became too strong. Personality: At first glance Kado is a very intimidating figure at first (and every one after) glance. With his relatively muscular body, height and the burns that cover them it isn't hard to see why most are scared of him. With an easily ignited fuse and an eagerness to draw blood from anything that displeases or angers him its easy to see why some might consider him as dangerous as an angered bear. Kado is not all violence though, as sometimes he likes to just sit near the prow of the ship with his books or tools and enjoy the feel of the wind in his hair or the sun on his back. Once someone has gained his friendship (and thus his loyalty) he will be more than willing of throwing himself head first in protecting them, often leading him into deadly situations. Weapon(s): A khopesh with a red leather hilt, and an oxtail dao that has a red and black grip and similarly colored tassel. Other: His burn scars appeared over the course of his stay in Egypt. The cause of them is something that he has not told anyone at the time. Gay? Nah man. This guy is bi bi bi. The Dao was his mothers and is the only memento he has of his family other than his fathers earrings. @FlamesEmbrace Name: Seinaga "Sei" Seihado Age: 19 Gender: Uhhh Fluid? They kind of switch around. Mostly goes by he/him though. Appearance: (Pic appreciated, but not required) [img]https://i.imgur.com/A24JX5J.png[/img] Usually dresses in loose white shirts, tight black pants, and a black and gold sash that has kitsunes and other creatures of legend stitched onto it. A dark leather harness crosses over his torso so that he can carry his guan dao around easily. Fleet Joined: Dominio Job: Musician Backstory: Sei was raised in a family of merchants that was known for their trade with the Asia, and did so frequently enough that a decent amount of their family is a mix of European and Asian heritage. Everything was going well, their lessons and everything going smoothly up until the age of sixteen and everything went down the drain. He was saved from death itself by his cousin Seishi, one of the only remaining members of his family. Life continued for a time, with a decent span of it involving lessons of self defense that the older male thought he needed before Seinaga decided to stick themself to the Dominio crew as their musician with only his fathers guan dao, mothers guzheng, and the clothes on his back. Personality: Sei comes off as an extremely touchy feely and flirtatious being to those that don't know him well. Really it is just a mask to hide their insecurities from others in an attempt to fill a void that their family left behind. It is no secret that they can become extremely violent if and when the situation calls for it, though they can hide it effortlessly underneath the flirtatious outward appearance that they keep up. One way to easily get on their bad side is to touch their halberd or their guzheng without permission. Weapon(s): Guan dao halberd with a kitsune etched onto the side of the blade, along with a more ornamental dagger that appears to have been part of a set. Also a pair of stiletto daggers disguised as hair pins. Other: Wears a kitsune mask that has a thin black veil connected to the bottom of it, and barely manages to hide his facial expressions. Usually plays a fiddle, but also has a guzheng for when he wants to play for himself. Has a fear of fire arms and will freeze up if one is pointed at them or if they have to touch one. Long enough contact with one might send them into a panic attack. [/center][/size]
