Syria the Clan leader had warned her to be careful, but exploring was a great learning experience for hatching, but not to wonder to far and be back by nightfall. The Arcane lands had many wonders with its great pink stones, She wanted to do the clan proud and at last show that cranky mirror Rodick she was a hunter and let her join the hunting party. Embers would try to pounce on the humming bird but it see her and she have to chase it down again leading her farther and farther away from her home. Then it lead her some where expected somewhere new. The grass was tall and lush green and gold. Wind seem to sing though the stocks. Embers was marveled. "What is this place? Its so pretty. "

Embers being a few days older now was aloud to leave the care of the nest an explore the lands.

"What is this place? Its so pretty. "
"If you two are quite done, can we get back to it? You're not going to learn to hunt like that." Azrael said with some amusement, looking down on the two young Guardians tolerantly. "Sorry." Memoira said, looking abashed. "Just getting some practice in, Azrael." Nightseer said, unabashed. "We're going to need it before day's end." The circuit-marked dragonet said knowingly. Azrael frowned to himself. Reshaki said that Nightseer was well named and she did indeed have a propensity for prescience, but he wasn't sure that she was right in this instance. They were far from the border with the Scarred Wasteland, and the Astra Psykanna kept the peace on the Arcane border so Azrael's first reaction was to dismiss Nightseer's off-hand comment. His second reaction was to take it under advisement. "Well, come on then. Show me how you stalk." Azrael said low, indicating a large hare a little way ahead. 'Why are you frowning?' -Temeraire's first words.

Embers perks up hearing some talking in the distance. They were far enough away she couldn't quite see or hear them. She sank low into the grass and cheeped closer keeping to the golden and green stalks of grass in the wind lands. Embers feet were quick but quiet and soon she was right in front of them watching.

"Oh wow.." Ember whispered quietly. There was two dragons just like her but the other, was something she had only heard about. She pondered what to do, she wanted to get closer but she had no idea how to introduce herself.

Memoira circled left so that she was down wind of the hare while Nightseer moved upwind before pouncing.
Predictably, the hare bolted directly away from Nightseer and right into Memoira, who pounced on it before it saw her, before squeaking in startlement as it started thrashing and trying to get free.

Nightseer meanwhile, had picked up another scent and begun stalking something altogether more interesting: another dragon.
And judging by the sharp crystalline scent, an arcane dragon who wasn't Old Broody.

Embers watched the two catch the hare with ease, huffing with a bit of excitement. Hatchlings could to help hunt! Entranced she swished her tail back and forth a bit taking mental notes. Maybe this is why most hunting parties went in pairs. She stayed where she was at hoping for more lessons.

She had not kept track of the third dragon, and failed to notice her approach down wind of her.

His father, Damascus, strolled casually at a distance, keeping a careful eye on the energetic hatchling while enjoying the warm, if very blustery day. It was the first time the youngster had been outside the Sunbeam Ruins, and after a slightly stressful flight in which Knight clung to Damascus's back, they had landed in the Windswept Plateau. The Zephyr Steppes seemed like an ideal place for a spot of teaching, the Wind Flights friendly nature making it unlikely for any of them to cause harm. Damascus chuckled as Knight ran back to him with his prize of a mouthful of wriggling insect. "Good lad, Knight, but a Guardian such as yourself should be hunting much larger prey." Knight swallowed the cricket and nodded, "Yes father, I'll find a meal fit for the entire clan. I'll bring back a whole Zeeba." Nodding again the youngster made to run off, only for Damascus to suddenly pick him up by the scruff of his neck and place him on his back, "Hey, father!" Knight laughed before shutting his jaws at the stern look Damascus gave him. "We are not alone here." Damascus growled gruffly, before cautiously approaching the Imperial he had spotted.

Azrael watched with some faint embarrassment as Memoira grappled with the hare. The first time his father had taken him hunting, he'd killed the hare Palion had pointed out to him in short order.
"Memoira, stop playing with your food. Bite it's neck. Or strangle it if you can't manage that." Azrael advised.

Memoira squealed as the hare gave an extra-vigorous kick, before getting a firm grip on it's neck with her small, but powerful jaws and snapped it's neck with a vigorous shake of her own.
"I did it!" She called exaltantly.

"Very good." Azrael said with a nod as Memoira all but pranced up, head held high with the hare proudly in her jaws.
"Nightseer?" Azrael called, as he saw the other young Guardian stalking through the grass.

"Aha!" Nightseer said as she pounced on the small dragon she'd smelt, wrestling her to the ground, then she heard Azrael call.
"Over hear! Found someone!" She called back, doing her best to keep her captive wriggling free and escaping as she struggled to bring her to show to Azrael.
Memoira was going to be so jealous.

"Ho!" Azrael called as he spied the scarred Guardian with his own hatchling. "I'm starting to feel a little outnumbered here." He joked. "Who might you be?" He called, as yet oblivious to Nightseer's catch.

Memoira however, wasn't.
"Er...Nightseer, are you sure you should be doing that?" She asked hesitantly as the Shadow Guardian still struggled with her hissing, struggling prize.

Embers squeaked as Nightseer jumped on her. She was more scared than hurt. She wiggled and kicked just like when she tussled with the other hatchlings back home. She had to get this Dragon off of her, Embers rolled to her belly whispering a few arcane words that Syria had taught her.

She remember the lesson well, though she was not born an Arcane Dragon, she was adept at magic. As the last word slipped from her mouth, her eyes turned a shade of red, as she summoned a small spout of flame from her maul out of the depths of her fire soul. In truth it wasn't big enough to do any real damage, but she hoped it was at least scary enough to get her captor to let go.

Damascus relaxed at the friendliness of the Imperial, and with the company of other hatchlings he decided to let his wriggling offspring back down. "Blessings of the Lightweaver on you, I'm Damascus, of the Light Flight. I apologize if I am intruding, I needed a reasonably safe place to take my son for his first trip outside of our territory. Who are you?"

As soon as his father let him, Knight galloped over to the other hatchlings. Thinking that the brown and grey ones were playfighting, he jumped into the fray, gently biting at Nightseer's tail and legs, giggling all the while, only to jump away in fright at the conjured magic.
