Sar'Ynthia scanned the ground below. "It's fine," she called over her shoulder to the Imperial. "You see, Yossai and I were out with our daughter Shaeszari when we found him. It was supposed to have been her first time doing some real hunting, but the session drew quickly to a close when we noticed Maqil sprawled out just over the Scarred Wasteland's border. He was heavily wounded. We aren't sure how he got so badly injured, but he was in dire need of assistance, especially with Shattered Serpents closing in on him. We sent Shaeszari off to get a stretcher and some help while we descended to help fight off the monsters around him. To our luck, there weren't too many Serpents - by the time Marielle and De'Yandre showed up four of them were dead and the other three were long gone. So from there we loaded him onto the stretcher and flew him back to our den where he has been receiving medical attention from De'Yandre, Shaeszari and myself."

Sar'Ynthia suddenly drew to a halt, squinting into the dark forest below. "I can see movement," she noted. "It's something big - about Imperial size, I think. Hopefully it's him. Let's descend." Sar'Ynthia slowly carried herself to the ground, Yossai following close after.

Syre was about to ask another question before the fae spotted the imperial-sized blur on the ground - at least, it was a blur to Syre. His eyesight wasn't top notch, and despite his sister's pleading for him to think about wearing glasses, he kept his face bare of any help to his vision.

The imperial swooped down and landed with caution, watch wing beat slower than the other as his claws touched ground. Peering far away, he could make out the red color of the start of his flight's territory. Checking the sky, the sun was touching the brim of the horizon, shedding whatever light it had over the treetops.

Sar'Ynthia tucked her mulberry wings gently to her sides and looked up ahead. Sure enough, there he was – a large Imperial with silver scales pushing his way past the towering trees around him. "Maqil!" she called. "Wait, please! You haven't fully recovered yet!" The Imperial kept trudging further along, pretending not to hear her. "Maqi–" Sar'Ynthia stepped forward and felt damp cloth beneath her talons. Picking it up, she saw that it was one of his bandages, and there was fresh blood on it. "Maqil, your wounds haven't healed yet. Please come back! We can take care of you!"

This time the Imperial raised his head and turned to look at her, showing that half of his face was dripping with blood and the eye was tightly shut. "I'm fine," he said calmly, his voice hoarse from pain. "There is no need for your concern – I will be taken care of by my Clan." Sar'Ynthia continued forward.

"Well how did you get so horribly wounded? Can you at least answer me that?"

Maqil didn't answer for a moment. He turned to glance longingly at the Scarred Wastelands – his home – then swung his head back around to the small Fae. He sighed. "Let me put it simply: I was accused of a crime I did not commit. The punishment was banishment, but my escort was enraged at the crime and decided to give me extra punishment. However, if I let them know the truth, then they'll take me back – I know they will..." He paused, then chuckled and added somberly, "That is, assuming they'll believe me."

Sar'Ynthia felt a pang of sympathy for the dragon, along with a tug of resentment at her heart. This poor dragon, loyal to his Clan, was just trying to get back and convince them he was innocent. "But he's a Plague dragon!" something small in the back of her mind snapped. "How does he know if his Clan will take him back? How do you know he can be trusted? How do you know he didn't commit a crime?"

Emont answered hastily while nodding to the spot where Celebration is, "Well I was just talking to him a moment ago-" but then he paused to make sure he was there before realizing Sar'Ynthia, Yossai, Sans, and Syre are gone. "Huh? Where'd they go?" He stopped to stare at the empty spaces for a moment, his face full of confusion. The green and grey pearlcatcher mumbled silently, "Probably went home."

Mischa sighed. "Well, alright," she said, smiling a bit to the Tundra. "Thanks anyway!" she said, spreading her wings and taking off.

"I'm going with you," Syre spoke up, looking the fellow imperial in the eye. "I know a bit of the territory - I can also hold my own in a battle." His tail swished back and forth. "I hope you know that I won't take no for an answer," he continued, holding his head high in a display in dominance. He marched forward slowly, suddenly taking on an air of strength. He turned his head around to look behind him and cleared his throat. "Well then. Let's go," he spoke, turning his head back around and going forward.

Maqil blinked at Syre in surprise. "Alright then," he said, his lips forming a grateful smile. "I can't wait to get out of this forest – I can hardly see a thing, and I keep tripping over roots and brambles. It'll be amazing to be home, surrounded by my Clanmates." He then turned to follow the other Imperial. His whiskers quivered with excitement, joy, and fear.

Sar'Ynthia started at Syre's sudden determination. She exchanged a confused glance with Yossai, then stared after the two as they started into the land of Plague. "Well, goodbye," she called after them. "Oh! And Maqil, if you ever need it, just know you'll have a home here. Good luck!" Sar'Ynthia turned around and started back to the clearing where they had met all of the visiting dragons. Yossai hesitated, then followed cheerfully.

"Alrighty," he said, waving goodbye to his friends. Then, he turned back to Marquil. "So, you're the little trouble Sar'Ynthia was talking about," he said with a chuckle. He started to walk forward, though at a pace the young dragon could keep up with. "We could stop into my clan and clean you up, if that's alright with you."

He ignored the stench of decay that trailed around the both of them like a tail, as he was used to it after living here for moons. He easily trampled over a log, smashing it with his covered claws. He realized he hadn't tampered with his apparel in a while, and he was proud of himself. He was finally growing up to be what was expected of him - strong and brave. But deep down, and he knew, he was still a shy dragon.

(Yeah, sure. I guess I'm a bit better at one-on-one anyways... :33 )

Maqil hesitated, then nodded. "I suppose we could stop by your Clan. Even if my Clan does take me back, what good am I to them like this?" He smirked a bit to himself, then frowned again. "Ah, I'm sorry if I'm any trouble to you. I just can't let my Clan think that I was a traitor – that I was a killer. They have to know the truth."
