"well then, you're welcome to stay. Davril, take them to the guest nest." Yscar rolls her eyes and Davril nods.

"If you hadn't got the riddle he'd have still let you stay." he whispers as he heads into the cave, staying just ahead. "So... Are you going to leave at first light, or stay a bit?" The nocturne asks.

Radric nodded his thanks and went to carry Paragon once more before following the nocturne. He raised an eyebrow at Davril's words about the riddle, but paid it no mind. It is not uncommon to have leaders with strange humor.

Mindful of the rocks, Radric answered, "Thank you, but I'm afraid we have already imposed on you too much. In addition, we have to report back to our clan lest they think the worst has happened to us."

As they walk through the lair, they can see a handful of dragons in assorted elements and species working on a variety of tasks. A snapper is guarding a door labled "hatchery" and in a room labled "labratory" a pearlcatcher and spiral work on some kind of device.

"Then I'll tell them you want a daybreak departure. We'll arrange for food and an escort, so you won't have to worry about wildlife." He says with a smile. "So what's your clan like? I've not had much chance to see other flights."

A small smile made its way to Radric's lips, "Like any Fire clan, Emberguard is led by hot-headed, stubborn leaders. There's enough assortment of members from other flights to bring some semblance of balance, but as a group, we are all quite aggressive and somewhat rowdy.

"We consist mostly of fighters and focus on offensive strategies. There are no hatchlings as our lair has no place for them. They are all either sent away to loving homes or are offered to the Flamecaller out of their own volition. Many of us are busy at this time as we are trying to fortify our clan and reconstruct our society. We have been around for some time, but only now did we bother to fix our systems and social norms."

"Oh... That sounds significantly less... Pleasant. But I'm sure it works out well for all of you. That isn't t say we don't have our own fighters, but we tend to focus more on talking problems and border disputes out first rather than trying to smash it. Marameth always says that the tongue is powerful but needs teeth to protect it."

They wind deeper into the cave, the halls now lit by illuminated mushroom and he pulls aside a curtain near the back. "You two can stay here tonight. I'm gonna have to get back on my shift, but you're welcome to explore around, and ask if you need anything."

Radric nodded his thanks and settled Paragon on a few furs, before taking his place against the wall. This was definitely better than camping outside. At least here, he can rest knowing that there won't be any surprise attacks. With that last thought in mind, Radric let himself succumb to darkness...

The night is more or less quiet and their sleep is uneventful. The lair is quiet until morning when people begin to move, awaken, and make a bit of a racket. The sound of a few Hatchlings laughing and playing as they head down the lair awakens Radric just before the snapper from before pulls the curtain back. "Pardon me, but there was a wake-up call for dawn here." She smiles at them "there'll be food if you want to follow me down to the dining room. If you want to leave, just follow the white chalk on the walls to Marameth's nest."

Still a bit groggy, Radric nodded and wiped the sleep from his eyes. He glanced over to where Paragon was only to find the pile of furs empty of the said dragon.

Immediately on high alert, Radric all but jumped to his feet in worry. Turning around and seeing that his companion was missing, he turned to the Snapper, "Excuse me, but have you seen my companion?"

"I'm afraid not. I didn't want to disturb you, and we didn't have a guard posted. The alarm hasn't been raised so nothing violent has happened yet... she's probably fine. I'll let some people know to be on the lookout. Its like a maze down here, so she's got to be somewhere."

Radric sighed. Didn't she know that wandering an unknown clan's territories were dangerous? Even if they had offered to let them stay the night, it was still risky! Radric feared she might do something that will offend the clan.

Honestly, Paragon was going to get them in trouble!

Determined to give the female a piece of his mind, Radric cleared his throat, "I would like to look for her, if that's all right. I apologize for the inconvenience." He bowed his head to the snapper as he asked for permission.

Paragon laughed as she watched Davril perform his mimicking tricks.

She had woken up to a strange place with absolutely no memory of how they wound up there. Her initial reaction was to panic, but seeing Radric resting peacefully assured her that they were in friendly lands. Overcoming her initial shock, Paragon got out of bed and decided to wander around a bit. That was when she encountered Davril...
