Rat had allowed himself to float down to the island and land near the green pearlcatcher; whom he shot a rye toothy grin towards.

Kahn dropped down to the grass with a grunt her spear still in hand. The weapon hadn't been much use in the fight; stabbing the fuirans tended to get them stuck on the spear which only caused problems in getting the things off. Particularly when they weren't quiet dead; they tended to kick and flail. Kahn was lucky the worst she had come out with was a gash low on one cheek that was still bleeding slightly. She sighed and reached up to run a hand through Rat's mane before moving to strap her spear back into it's place.

Rat snorted at the antics of the ridgeback and then the guardians reaction. He recognized the ridgeback as the one that had originally opened the path through the fuirans; he would be one to watch... Rat turned his attention back to his rider who was now standing just in front of him watching the mystery rider. He huffed and plopped his head down on her shoulder. Kahn's knees started to buckle thanks to the unexpected force, but she recovered before falling. Rat grinned and Kahn smacked his nose.

The mystery rider called the guardian back, and settled into the saddle gesturing for them all to follow. Kahn swallowed,

"Ready Rat?" She asked wrapping an arm around his head in an awkward hug.

"Of course." the imp smiled, and Kahn shoved his head off of her shoulder. She climbed into the saddle, and secured herself.

"Then let's go!" and with that Rat was moving towards the edge of the island where the guardian and a few of the other dragons had already disappeared. Rat leaped into the sky and allowed himself to free fall for a few seconds before snapping out his wings, and following the guardian's path towards the surface below.

Sam watched from his place on Impala's back as the guardian leapt into the air, it's body arching into a steep nosedive. Several of the other dragons followed soon after, sliding neatly into the slipstream made by the larger dragon. With one hand he checked all the straps securing his legs to the saddle, with the other he stroked the skydancer's neck.

"Let's go." he said, taking a firm grip on the dragon's mane.

Impala nodded and took to the skies, her wings flaring wide enough to display their eyespot pattern before tipping herself down, allowing gravity to drag her into a freefall as she followed on the guardian's tail.

The shove had startled Dark, who squeaked like a little hatchling falling from its egg as he tumbled over, but quickly regained himself, eyes wide and mouth closed tight as he tried to pretend that didnt just happen. Nope, never. Eve only shook her head and climbed back into the saddle, clipping herself back into place at the base of his neck and gave him a good pat on the neck.
When the others left she watched, waiting. Used to letting smaller dragons and riders go first because she knew what Dark would do. Being last wasnt a bad thing in her eyes.

And she was right again. The moment the last one took off Dark set into a hopping leaping run which made Eve feel like she was riding a giant jack rabbit, before his wings beat down on the air at the peak of a jump and her took flight. Once the ground was cleared below his wings tucked tight and he dipped forward and down to streak after the others, catching up quickly. Darks wings would open now and again to slow his decent and it took eves constant reminder through the touch of her legs in their stirrups to keep him from zigzagging and changing his own course. They had been told to stay in line, so she would do her best to keep him in it. No sense in dieing only when things where starting!

Everything had happened so fast since their first arrival. Haris shoved the towel back in his backpack, checked the ties Sakarine had done, and readied himself to take off again. She secured her pearl once again in the sack, always nerve-racked when she couldn’t hold it.

The Guardian again spoke. Then the group was aloft.

Sakarine whole-hearted regretted not fighting more against this. ‘Haris wouldn’t go through with this, how silly a thought.’ She was too lost in thought and hadn’t realized nearly every other rider had taken off after. Haris, however, was alit with excitement. He hadn’t lost sight of the leading member before he lightly kicked his dragons side, telling her to take off. The pearlcatcher, and her rider, followed in suit. They themselves were being reared up by the large brightly decorated ridgeback.

Haris’ heart raced, his nerves were electric, the realization that he had no idea what was going to happen. He never thought the consequences through. “Hey.” He furrowed his brow looking at the pearlcatcher’s glances over her shoulder at him. “Hey,” she spoke again. “What?” She was trying her best to whisper, “watch our six, that ridgeback's a bit of an oddball.” Haris flushed red, “Just watch where we’re going.”

Zach gulped as he held onto his dragon, he had no clue what to expect down there, sure Mark had told him stories but seeing it yourself was whole different thing, Lucifer glanced back up at the other dragons, seems like everybody was following now, he focused his attention down again, following the two dragons that went ahead, he still wasn't sure about that mystery rider, but considering he or she practically saved everyone it couldn't be a trap. They'd have to see at the bottom who this person is and why they were asked along, more importantly how did he or she know of their existance?

Power rippled across her wings, Falice's element trying to break free and turn a dive into a full blown attack. Her long-honed control kept it from appearing as anything more than sparks of streaming green, elemental wind that could be press into anything she'd like, if she only set it free to blaze. But blazing in any sort of formation was an extremely bad idea, so she kept it down to a minimum, alert to the changes in the wing positioning of the guardian in front of her.

Tally had raised her cloak. White, made to blend in with Falice's colours in a fight, it was lined with fur thick enough to hold out the cold air sweeping past her. She could never understand how dragons could enjoy such risky high speed moves, powers or no. But if this was one of the only clear paths down to the surface she could be retaking it again and again for quite some time, depending on whatever Zara Hepps' plan was. Resigned to the action going on all around her, Tally hunkered down, her ridgeback's spines providing further protection from the rushing wind.

The cloud wall was an obstacle in itself. It took Aural at full speed to pierce it, a feat that could only be accounted to her size. Zara lowered her head so it was low and safely behind her dragon's head fins. The winds were thicker and blowing like mad, whipping Zara's hood around. The noise was deafening, but Aural pushed down further.

The bang was like a gunshot as the cloud layer broke. Aural faltered a bit, but not as much as another dragon would. The cloud layer dissipated, making a hole for the other dragons to come through, and the air was immediately hotter than it was before. The surface was a much different place indeed. Zara had gotten used to the yellow tint everything had; she hardly even noticed the light sulfer smell that tainted the air. She felt like this was her real home.

As soon as they were on the underside of the clouds, Aural slowed down, and angled her body upright, opening her wings to catch on the stagnant air of the world beneath the clouds. Zara sat up as her dragon coasted to the ground.

The place they aimed for was a long strip of hard black rock-like ground. Zara knew this was what surface roads looked like, a substance called asphalt. Either side of the 'road' was wooded, but upon further inspection, the woods weren't dense. There was buildings placed sparsely, some not much more than rubble. The ruins were overtaken by foliage. Things in the woods crawled and buzzed, and this new world wasn't silent at all.

Aural landed and Zara dismounted, standing with her arms crossed and awaiting her team. The cloud cover reformed after the others passed through it, thickening as Zara watched, knowing that the people she was with would have no idea how to get back to the Highland.

Still bringing up the rear the Pair stayed close behind the train of riders and dragons, Eve sitting up a bit higher in the saddle when she heard the sound, reminiscent of the sonic boom. When she saw the clouds scatter a moment, and realized what it was she tucked down tight to Darks neck, clinging on as they dove through the momentary lapse in the cloud cover.
the first thing to assault her in the entry of the surface worlds sky was not the color, but the smell! it was not the clean fresh air she was used to, and it took much of Evelines will to not reach up and cover her nose while in flight.

She was startled when Dark Flared his wings out, drastically slowing their descent in correspondence to the others. Eve blinked, sitting back up only to find the ground nearing. "Slower dark slower!" she knew his habits, and how he tended to land hard enough to roll more often than not, and put ah and to her straps should she need to evacuate his back swiftly. But he behaved, bewildered by this strange black ground, and his wings beat against the air till he hovered over it.

Dark lowered his head, sniffing the ground as he did his best to not yet touch it, regardless of the others landing. "what is this blasphemy! it's almost the same color as me!" His head whipped up to eye his rider as she rolled her eyes and pointed down. "Land Dark, if the others are on it, it's okay." He snorted, muttering under his breath before slowly lowering his hind legs to touch first, and than the rest of him. He didn't stay still though, even as Eve looked to the one she could only assume was the letter sender. Dark danced around on the pavement, tip toeing and trying not to stay in one place to long should the black stuff decent to suddenly open up and eat them.

"So you brought us here, you going to at least tell us who you are now?" Eve spoke up, hopefully loud enough to be heard, though ah and covered her face to block out some of that really weird smell in the air.

Haris’ head was tucked neatly behind his dragon’s head, sure to hide his eyes from getting anything in them. He’d left his flying goggle’s in the backpack, and now would certainly be no time to go find them. Sakarine had taken to humming a tune she made up to calm her nerves. He could feel the vibrations of It in her neck, he noted how off tune she sounded and made a mental note to bring it up later.

The air filled with the crack and boom as the leading dragon burst through the cloud layer. He pictured a comedic fake gun that shot out a little flag that read ‘BANG’ in large lettering and chuckled to himself. “If you’re making fun of me back there, I will drop you off here and go back.” The boy couldn’t help but let out a laugh, “no, no, nothing like that.” She huffed, she hated not being in on jokes.

The pearlcatcher followed the group, through the hole in the cloud, and down past the world filtered in yellow. “It’s hotter than a mirror’s temper down here,” she spoke with a glance at Haris. He was adjusting with her, attempting to sit upright enough to glance around. “And smells like something’s gone bad, omen you think?” She rumbled with a chuckle. “Even if it were, we’ve already entrusted our future to this mysterious stranger riding that guardian. Seem’s as if we were all crazy enough to take the bait.” He nervously smiled at her, “it’ll be fun,” he shrugged showing how skeptical even he was of that statement.

She glared, looking back at Haris, then the ground ahead, then repeated that two more times. “I ought to drop you right now for saying that.” A fake light chuckle came and died out quickly, and his smile dropped, replaced by worry. She let out a low menacing rumble of a laugh to scare him but was cut off when she saw what they were landing on. What even was that strange material. There was a shaped line laid flat of it, and it was the most baffling thing either of the pair had seen. There was relief when the guardian landed safely atop it first, and Sakarine trusted it enough to find space to land.

They landed a couple yards away. Sakarine untied the bags yet again, she hated the extra weight. “The air is stale,” she said making a face as if she’d tasted something rotten. Haris slid from the saddle, landing off-balance and stumbling back a step before catching himself. He knocked on the blacktop, “it’s like rock.” He stood upright, thankful he hadn’t worn his jacket with the immediate atmospheric change, dusted his shirt of loose debris, and looked about. “Cloud cover's back over us,” he spoke absently, then fixed his focus on the still unknown gatherer of this little bundle of rider’s and their dragons. He gestured and nodded at the oddball-ridgeback’s rider, “yeah, you clearly know who we are. What’s all this about?”

Kahn buried her face in Rat's mane to avoid the chill and sting of the air; she was really regretting leaving her goggles in her saddle bag. The sound of the wind whirling around them was deafening. The loud bang brought Kahns attention back, and she looked up in time to see the guardian break through the cloud layer. Leaving a hole in the clouds for them to aim for as she disappeared to the surface below. Kahn took a deep breath and hid her face in the dark imps mane again.

Just before he lost sight of the guardian in the clouds Rat angled himself so that he was in as perfect line with her as he could get. He watched carefully as the dragons in front of him burst through the cloud layer, and again moved so that he would enter through the place that offered the least amount of resistance. He tucked his wings close to his body and shot through the clouds. Out of the cloud layer Rat continued his dive for a few seconds before snapping his wings to their full length, and rising in the air. He continued to rise then tilted his body back to preform a backwards loop before he drifted down to land with the other dragons.

"Show off," Kahn grumbled smiling a bit despite herself; Rat just chuckled.

The first thing Kahn really noticed was the smell, it was like rotten eggs. Diffidently not what she had been expecting, and it looked like the world had turned into a faded photograph. Also not what she had been expecting; not that she really had any ideas about what the surface would be like in the first place.

The smell was bad, the yellow tint to everything was annoying, and the ground felt really really wierd. The imperial awkwardly shifted from paw to paw as he tested the hard black surface.

"Rat stop that and let me off," said Kahn smiling inspite of herself. The imperial responded with a low sound that was somewhere between a growl and a whine, but yielded to his riders wishes and stood still,"Thank you." she said and slid out of the saddle and onto the ground.

Kahn turned to watch as the last of the dragons landed. It was the enthusiastic yellow and black ridgeback. Kahn felt a stab of pity for his rider, he dragon was evidently quiet the handful. The ridgebacks rider spoke, asking the mystery rider to explain them self. Quickly followed by the rider of the pearlcatcher adding his voice to the question.

"Yes please explain," Kahn frowned crossing her arms, her eyes fixing on the strange rider.
