Blessing or a curse
Lineage Project
Lineage Project
The shade dripped omniously from the sky, while the battle to push it away raged on. Windguide desperately plunged in and out of the shade, frantically calling for her other child. Surge- however, knew it was fruitless to search further. By now any normal dragon would be- at very least, fully corrupted by the shade. If not absorbed entirely into its colossal, seeping mass.
Surge was on the cold stone ground, he held his only remaining biological daughter close. He cried as he knew that he had being too late. He had seen it too often in battles, and had once been there himself. Though he had the fortune to somehow emerge unharmed. Poor Mountainwing- however, would likely be shade-touched forever. If it wasn’t already consuming what remained of little dragonet’s soul.
“D..dad?” he heard a voice that while shaky, was unmistakably his daughter’s. His eyes opened instinctively and he looked down on Mountainwing, not a single sign of what should of been- considering her time within the shade— a very noticeable ailment. He looked her over in disbelief, before crying tears of joy and holding her closer than ever.
Little did either know, that their history spanned far beyond what they could imagine. And there was a very good reason for them to be resistant to the shade.
In fact, it was a reason that two ancient progenitors died for.
The project
As you may of guessed, I have my own little headcannons about how the shade works. Basically that its a hivemind and will try to absorb more living creatures into it to grow stronger. If an creature ingests a part of the shade or is temporarily stuck within the shade, they become half-corrupted. In time their corruption, if not treated will grow to fully control their mind like a parasite.
(Disclaimer: shade touched was not my idea! I have no idea who initally came up with the idea but i just wanted to clarify)
Children of Surge and Windguide, however, are like someone who is immune to zombie bites, they can still be killed by other means, such as falling from a great height, but they wont get turned into a zombie.
This is also a legacy project, where the goal is to be able to grow out my dragons’ family tree and hopefully spawn many beloved dragons with interesting stories to tell.
The idea is that these dragons can help protect other clans from the shade, giving them one less thing to worry about.
But beware, some could decide to work alongside the shade for selfish ends, or even be skipped over and left vulnerable to the shade but with a different power. All of those bits and pieces are left entirely up to you!
