Tick...tock.
Din along with the group of dragons she had been helping to rehome felt an invisible pressure fall onto them. Din's rabbit friends huddled closer to the female Tundra, though even with their additional warmth, Din still shivered. It was time to make final decisions.
The Tundra was so distracted that she almost didn’t notice that an Imperial almost made a mash out of her. Before she could react with much more than surprise, though, she was happily distracted when she saw an old friend easily clear a path through the assembled dragons.
@
kitsune56 Lyric looked over apologetically and shook her head. “I am afraid that you have misunderstood what I meant. I only meant to convey that between your offer and the offer made by @/Teltrevir, your offer was closer to what it was that we are looking for. If you would like biographies to be written for two other dragons in your clan, though, I’m certain that the Wild Beat writer wouldn’t mind if you asked him. Now…”
The Snapper looked over at the retreating forms of @FireBrimstone Rohan and Somnia. “
Echo, I think we’ll need your help for this.”
Once the little Fae poked out from his hiding place, gave his assent, and pulled out quill and paper, Lyric began speaking. She didn’t expect every word to be taken down as she said them, though she knew that Echo was more than capable of doing just that. She knew that the assistant librarian/scribe knew to take the information that was given to him and compose it into a coherent message. “Going to a place where we are being given a home and are able to be reunited with an old friend. That is something that we would both like.”
Lyric chuckled. “I remember that Ridgeback, Somnia, and why she decided to leave. I also remember her method of choosing where to go. Clever, that. I think that’s why we’ve all decided to take her example. Now…”
She gestured to her mate before continuing to speak. “Gaara has improved his craft from the Wild Beat jeweler,
Artemis, a fair amount since you’ve gone. I myself have learned much from the
tailor and self-proclaimed fashionista and her mate. We would both be more than happy to join you and lend them our skills. They need simply tell us when they’d like for us to join them, and we will be on our way.”
|
@FireBrimstone Meili had smiled up at the Imperial who had spoken to him and listened with all of his attention. While Rohan didn’t smell familiar, Somnia did, and if the Imperial was close to the Ridgeback, then the Imperial was at least a friend to the Tundra. “Echo? I think I will need your help, too.” The pale-colored Tundra waited until the neutral-colored Fae had pulled pulled out a fresh piece of parchment, he began his own reply.
|
“While I might be of some help at a pot or an oven, managing account books is more to my liking. And even so, I’m not one to sit and calculate all day, either. I’m afraid that there is another calling that draws me. While I apologize for not being able to fill the role myself, I do hope that you are able to find someone who is able to cook edible things! Oh, and I have seen Gaara around the fire when he has some free time on his paws,”
Meili added with a chuckle. He ignored the glare the Pearlcatcher threw at him. Was it supposed to be a secret? Probably; the other dragon didn’t seem to want it to be known the he enjoyed dabbling with food preparation. But why hide something so useful?
The Tundra waited until Echo was finished with his furious scribbling before asking the Fae to help him once again. @
Dimness “While I do enjoy things like painting and sculpting on occasion, I’m afraid that I wouldn’t want to make a career out of it. And while I do like the idea of finding some Poison, Toxin, and Thylacine scrolls for myself, I think it would be wiser to allow the dragons of the clan I will be joining decide whether or not they’d like to see such a...splash of colors every day. I do hope that you are able to find someone to fill the artist role in your clan someday, though.”
Meili left Echo to his scribbling then to face the smartly-dressed Mirror who had just arrived. @
Mokuroh “While a change in color, genes, and breed would be fun and fascinating, I rather like my current colors. I might want to change myself in the future, but for now, I’m looking for...a place to call home, for lack of anything less cheesy to say.”
And finally, the pale-colored Tundra looked with a smile to the Wildclaw who seemed to pull things out of thin air when one wasn’t looking carefully. @
Pachirisu “There won’t be any need to bribe me with a bonus. I would be more than happy to become a helper at the inn with just the promise of a home and good work to be done.”
|
@KiTea Ebris snapped his jaws and immediately blinked in surprise. It seemed he’d been around Zoran for too long. “Now that, that sounds like a life worth living! You needn’t even need to bribe me,” the Mirror added with a wink. Then again, having a captain herself come to attempt to convince him to join her band was something of a bribe in and of itself. “Tell me when you’d like to leave, and I’ll be on my way.”
|
Ebris looked over his shoulder to throw some words at Echo. “Hey! Tell the others who were looking at me where I’m going, alright?”
Echo sighed quietly and nodded at the dragon with a dark hide. No one was making his job very easy today! At least it gave him something to do. The Fae pondered what sort of tone Ebris would usually use to respond to others. While the Mirror could be eloquent when he wanted to be, he was usually more of the brash sort. He nodded to himself as he began to write two similarly-written letters. @
Crysi102 @
Dimness “While I like what you’ve told me, there’s another life that suits me better. Thanks for considering me, though! -Ebris”
...Eh. Close enough.
|
@Crysi102 Galahad tapped his chin thoughtfully. Mage or aide? “Echo, some help, please?” The Spiral paused to let the Fae prepare parchment and quill. “@Dimness while I would enjoy working to better my control of my magic, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself once I did. I think I will make it something of a hobby instead. I appreciate your offer of joining your clan, though. From Galahad.”
|
The Spiral waited until the little Fae was finished writing before asking him to pull out another piece of parchment. “Vedaal, as unglamourous as being an aide might sound, I wouldn’t mind such a position. I would like to join you. Simply send me word of when you would like for me to join you, and I will find my way to you. From Galahad.”
Somehow, Galahad didn’t believe that life as a helper would be completely drab, though he wouldn’t have minded if it was. Should the odd bandit come around, though, the martial training that he’d received in his time with the Wild Beats would come in handy.
|
@LizzardLady Temperance took in what @/Dimness had to say, then looked over at Precious once again. “I would like to join you and your group of misfits. The freedom to do what I wish is rather tempting, more so than being decked in a garland of flowers.” The Imperial looked over at the assistant scribe/librarian. “Will you inform @/Dimness of my decision?”
|
Once again, Echo pulled out another piece of parchment. @/Dimness was going to be getting quite a few letters today.
“Dear @
Dimness
I regret to inform you that I will not be joining you in your clan. The territory that you and yours have claimed does sound remarkable, though, and I hope that you are able to enjoy the area for many years to come.
My sincerest apologies,
Temperance.”
|
@Dimness Zoran lifted himself off of the ground and into the air, where he sketched a few quick loops before settling again. “Echo, Echo, Echo! Write something for me, please?” After the Fae lifted his quill to show that he was ready, the Spiral started speaking. “Dimness, I, Zoran, would really like to join you. Your hot springs sound wonderful. I can fish. I don’t eat fish, but I can fish. I can also take care of the hot springs. I don’t mind doing both. Tell me when you want me to come to you, and I’ll be there in a flash!”
|
|
Echo finished his last few words, then looked around. It seemed everyone had said their piece. Now, it was time for him to give the pieces to their intended recipient. The Fae tested his wings a couple of times from where he had ended up sitting on Din’s back, then took to the skies. He would deliver the letters, wait for a reply if there was going to be one, then come back to this group to have them go their separate ways.

To everyone, I deeply apologize for the long wait for my reply. I was smack in the middle of moving from one state to another, and I was far too tired to give you all appropriate responses until now. I know that saving space for dragons you potentially might not receive is rather irksome, and I apologize for forcing you to do that, as well. For those who have won the respect of any of the dragons as well as their want to join you, if you have lost interest in them, simply inform me, and I will contact one of the others who were interested in the dragon(s). If you need time to clear some space, I will be more than happy to hold them. Keep in mind that I’ll likely only be able to hold them for a month since I won’t have internet access for a short period of time come March (or sometime in March. My schedule is strange and ever-changing.) If you’re fine with receiving them asap, then contact me saying that you’re ready, and I’ll send you a CR! You should receive the dragon(s) much more quickly than you received my responses since I don’t need to think too hard about what buttons to press
knocks self on the head
If you would like any of the dragons to have lore written for them, you’re also free to ask for that! If you have certain things that you’d like me to include or a certain style that you’d like, include that, too.
Seishin will write however and whatever he feels like/is appropriate otherwise.
I thank you all for your patience and your writing. Your responses helped to lighten this stressful time in my life, and I think that I’ll read over this thread in the future to cheer me up from time to time. It was equally fun to write replies to you all and your delightful dragons. I enjoyed every word that was written, no matter how short or how long a response was, and I enjoyed writing every word in my responses.
That being said, I’ll keep in mind some mistakes I made in executing this event so that I won’t frustrate myself or others if I decide to do something like this again in the future lol
If I’ve forgotten anyone, please do tell me! Life is busy at the moment, and my goldfish memory doesn’t always remind me of things.
As dragons move out of my lair, the first post will be changed accordingly~
