Don't cancel, just adjust your rules a little.
Give everyone a 'free ticket' for bumping once per day.
Bump your own thread a dozen times a day (and delete the 'bump' post after! it makes it look neater)
Give people a bonus ticket if they ping a friend and they buy at least 5 tickets (which is to say.. Bob pings Sally and Joe. Joe buys one ticket. Bob gets nothing. Sally buys 5 tickets, Bob gets 1 bonus ticket) .... or you can distribute bonus tickets for pings differently. one per 5 pinged friends.. or just "ping some friends, get a free ticket once" dealio. Something like that.
The point is, though, to get more visibility for your thread. The way to get visibility is to keep the thread bumped to the first page. Manage that by rewarding people for bumping the thread for you (but not too much! outline limits!) The more people who see the thread, the more who will buy tickets, the more people who will bump your thread.. etc :)

@Jenetikitty Hm, I guess I've underestimated the visibility needed! (But I have been bumping--and deleting.) I've created a quick banner and updated the first post. I'll add tickets for those who have pinged friends.
