[nextcol]Probably to the surprise of absolutely none, after the chaos caused in their home, Neylulth decided to order Isavar to make up for any resources he might’ve ruined in his break-in...and then some to start working on the construction of an actual home for everyone in the area so they didn’t need to rely more on a simple cave with some extra rooms carved into it. If they were going to grow in numbers, they needed the space.
Isavar was more than understanding in turn when he wasn’t allowed to go on his own, Arlo and Taarja sticking close to him as they scouted the surrounding areas for anything they could use. Both had to admit rather quickly that the Sandsurge’s ability to burrow and look underground and aboveground both soon became rather useful, the amount of creatures that escaped the ruthless surface and hid underground surprised the two of them.
Some questioning later revealed why Isavar hadn’t just survived off those underground findings, and it seems that if you burrow long enough you will find bigger or more dangerous creatures...or even pustules full of disease that you wouldn’t want to touch with a ten foot pole.
After gathering their findings, they would return home, where things were tense when they left it felt like they had started to accept each other when they made it back. However, they knew this was only the start of a longer process, and only the Divines knew what the future had prepared for them.

These odd fishes propel themselves by constantly swallowing excessive amounts of warm water and expelling them out of gills near their tails. Seems like a lot of work.

It wasn’t clear how the plague got into the lair, they had been careful to only eat the safest food, tossing away anything that even appeared suspicious without a second thought, they had thoroughly looked through their stocks every day, they took so many precautions...and even then it still managed to infect them all.
Pustules and coughing weren’t unusual, on top of weakness, dizziness, mucus...just to name a few symptoms. However, none of the dragons was willing to give in to it. Even Teesho, who was now a young adult, worked as if she was way older than she was, it kinda helped that she and Neylulth were the ones that seemed to show fewer symptoms and were the most lively of the bunch, probably an advantage from their elemental affinity and resilience.
The Plague was brutal, and more than once they nearly lost one of their own, the hatchlings coming the closest to most of them, but through constant and diligent appliance of all kinds of medicine crafted with the medicinal herbs gathered slowly but surely fought it off.
At the end of it, as the plague finally receded, the clan had no energy to celebrate their victory over such a difficult challenge. Elemental advantage or not, it had left them all exhausted in many ways, and they would need time to recover...

Something had gone wrong that night at the newfound kingdom. While no lives were lost, a large amount of food, materials and even some gold had gone missing. Well...maybe not a large amount for a well-stablished clan, but for their barely kickstarting kingdom? It was a bunch.
Everyone was angry when they woke up, such a loss was going to be hard to recover from, but not impossible. After a long time of discussing, they finally decided that not only they were wasting precious daylight, but to try and figure out the location of the supplies or who took them would be fruitless...they were long gone. So all they could do was to try and get back up and try to tighten security for next time...somehow...
Knowing they would have to delay the construction of the planned structures, they left the hatchlings and eggs under the care of Isavar and Theesho as they went to search for more materials and food, this time daring to travel further than ever before for the sake of bringing back as much as possible before the day was over.
The dangers were undeniable, but so was the bounty. Marking the area in a makeshift map to know how to find it again in the future and return home without getting lost in this lands, they grabbed their plentiful prize and made their way back home...with some bruises, scratches and bites and rather tired...but satisfied with their haul.

The night was mostly peaceful for the most part...but that changed near dawn when black smoke rose on the horizon and alarm cries were given. The clan mobilized, only to see the spreading fire coming their way. Whatever had caused, was not nearby, but the wind of the night had carried the flames in their direction.
The calm sleepy den soon became lively as the dragons quickly moved to try and protect what they had, Isavar rushed to dig firebreaks to keep the fire from burning the whole place to the ground, Champagne decided to stay in the nursery to protect the hatchlings should things go south, while everyone else moved to water duty to try and put out flames that could jump Isavar’s firebreaks.
It was in the middle of the chaos when they started to see shadows moving around them, approaching... and then attacking. The smoke was too dense to see, the night and blinding flames not helping, and with that, they had to separate. Arlo and Teesho rushed to fight the mysterious attackers while the rest kept keeping the fire at bay.
The sun was already up when the last of the flames finally went away, and the dragons would move to assess the damage...and the losses.
The first one to be found would be Arlo, multiple wounds present as Tessho watched over his limp body as if in complete denial of the truth, snarling and lashing at anything that approached...taking her a couple of minutes to calm down to realize the battle was over and the consequence.
The second was Isavar, who had taken the worst of the fire damage. His efforts to prevent the flames from razing his home to the ground had proven successful, but at a heavy cost as he laid still in a half-dug firebreak, skin and scales still sizzling with the burnt wounds that covered him.
And finally, Champagne, at the entrance of the cave, with a snarl still in both heads and multiple wounds. Whatever was in the smoke had tried to break into the hatchery, where the three defenseless hatchlings still were, terrified and yowling. She had given up he own life to prevent any of the three from losing theirs.
To say the end of the day was a gloomy one would be an understatement...none of them could figure out what had attacked them. Teesho was sure she had seen beastclans, Tanja claimed they moved and acted like dragons, and the hatchlings cried about a twisted beast of nightmares, unlike anything they had seen before...but regardless of what it was, the damage it had caused was clear…far too clear...

As if they didn’t have enough, disaster seemed to be trying to strike yet again as the terrifying slamming of large claws stomping across the territory they inhabited, all of the clan hid inside the cave, which they had barricaded with rocks and debris…
While they could fight a fire, there was no way in Sornieth they could hope to fight an Emperor and live to tell the tale, especially not with their current numbers.
They could hear them, sniffing, shuffling dirt and rocks, leveling the land, in pursuit of prey to eat, regardless of what that prey might be. Hugs were had, silent mumblings and whispers...but as suddenly as everything started, it ended.
A long time went by before they risked peeking out, the whole area was chaos and destruction, but the Emperor was no longer anywhere to be seen...a collective sigh of relief left the whole clan. They had at lot of work to do, but at least they had survived to see another day.
