Aren't birds just fantastic? There are so many cute, cool, and fierce birds all across Sornieth. I've got my field guide here and some binoculars for you, so why don't we lay down on the beach and see if anything neat flies overhead?


Info and Rules

  • This is a fundraiser for Water's dom bank and part of this year's Wavecrest Saturnalia festivities.
  • It will run April 14th-20th (Push week)
  • There are 10 bird familiars hidden in a 16 x 20 grid.
  • To uncover an unclaimed square, fill out the form and send brit 30kt or 30g per square.
  • You may pay to uncover as many squares as you would like to. You should submit a form and add 30kt/30g to your message for each square you want to uncover.
  • When a familiar is uncovered, all participants will earn the badge. This means by participating in the event at all you automatically qualify for all badges that are unlocked previously and in the future.
  • The map will update automatically every 5 minutes or so, if you accidentally send in a duplicate square as someone else I will move it to a nearby square as soon as I can.
  • Please only submit the form for squares that you intend to send in funds for! I will have to remove the automatic updates if folks submit extraneous forms.

Zalis tend to gather in large numbers in swamps, riparian forests, and mangroves on the borders of the Viridian Labyrinth. It has a diet that consists of over 80% fruits, though it will opportunisticly consume leaves and insects as well. Their song is a popuar motif to mimic for purposes such as doorbells. The Blue-Footed Eggull serves two important and unique roles in the ecosystem. Firstly, it picks barnacles off of surfacing bicorn whales, which helps them swim faster. It then uses the barnacles to build its nest. Secondly, it steals and consumes the eggs of other birds. Zalis

By diving at and hunting these insects while they visit flowers, often making contact with the plants, the Glorious Dayjar becomes an important pollinator as well.

Locally Common. Compare to Death Seeker where ranges overlap. These birds are nomadic insectivores that flock to areas where precipitation brings worms to the surface. The eye on its chest allows it to search for worms on the ground while remaining vigilant to any airborne predators as it flies. Highly intelligent.

Common. The Tradewinds Gull is widespread across Sornieth due to its domestication and use as a messenger bird. Feral populations have been established on both saltwater and freshwater coastlines. Its native breeding range spans the southern shoreline of the SoaTC from the Reedcleft Ascent to the Tsunami Flats.
