“Yes you will be fine.” Asics dead-paned. “Besides what’s a hundred meter vertical drop to an amazing pupil like you.”

“Only student,” Rusalki reminded before continuing, “How do I hold onto the poles without any hands?”

"Manet!" yelled a dragon entering the preparation room, "You [i]cannot[/i] be serious."
Manet looked up from the forms before him, signing him into the cross-country skiing contest. "Why do you say that?" he asked.
The other dragon contined with an infuriated voice "You are a water dragon! You do not know the first thing about cross-country skiing!"
Manet pushed his scuba mask onto his forhead. "Well, it can't be that different from waterskiing. I am confident."
"It isn't even the [i]slightest[/i] bit like waterskiing!" the other dragon raged on. "Come to your senses already!"
Manet ignored him. He would win this for [i]sure.[/i]

“Alright… let me put it like this. Do you remember being a gaoler?
“Oh course, it’s not something you forget.”
“Okay good. So… do you remember your first flight?”
“Yes, it was… fun.” Gunnhildr muttered.
“Oh really? Just ‘fun’?” Talise said with false amazement in his voice. “Cause if I’m remembering correctly you said it was ‘the greatest thing you had ever done. For the first time in your soul was finally free. Free to soar to the ends of the-“
“Alright I get it. What is your point?”
“I can’t fly but I think this is like that for me. When I’m up there, for a moment, I’m flying.”

Eine took off her space suit and put on her hockey armor instead. She had come back to her homeplanet just to participate in this match. She had been surprised when her old girl team told her their goalie had fallen sick and they needed a replacement. Still, it was nice to see everyone again. As she looked around the locker room the team captain clasped her shoulder. "We're happy to have you here," she said, "let's do our best together, yeah?". Eine nodded and resolved to do her best.

“Let’s see, it’s six dragons on ice at a time. And we have, seven-“
“Thirteen!” A different head felt the need to correct.
“-debatably seven. One alternate on the bench…normally 20 total-“
“No wait! Wasn’t it the single kind of math the one that got us booted last year? We definitely didn’t add up to twenty.” Yet another different head felt the need to interject.

“I’m joining the singles hockey.”
“This all aberration team was a mistake.”

She checked her suit to make sure everything was sitting right, grabbed her sled, and made her way to the start.

With their clan having earned medals in all but two of the Winter Games events, once the annual competition drew near Seaglass took it upon himself to start asking who wanted to compete in luge for one of the remaining medals. There was a collective interest in seeing the clan achieve medals in all events, but far fewer dragons who were willing to lay on their backs on a sled that would hurtle down an icy track at high speeds.
Soren was well aware of that, and since he was more open to the idea than others he volunteered. He felt it'd be a shame if the spiral's earnest recruiting efforts came to nothing otherwise, though he wasn't particularly expecting to win a medal considering it'd be his first time participating in the sport.
Nevertheless, he intended to take advantage of the practice courses the venue always provided and whenever the time came for his official run, he would simply do his best. He knew his clanmates would appreciate that, regardless of the outcome.
