Hello there! I was feeling brave last night and decided to pick up the '[url=https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/qnc/1963225#post_1963225]100 Hatchling Challenge[/url]'. So, let's introduce our matriarch and a bit about her! She is, as of starting this a "Thicket Pharaoh/Spearmint Flair/Mint Glimmer" Skydancer. I've had her for a while now, and not knowing what else to do with her, other than her being just, gorgeous. I decided, sure why not try another challenge, even though I haven't finished the Longdrop I'm supposed to do... Oh well lol" [b]The Rules[/b] [quote]1. This challenge begins with the selection of your matriarch. To pick one, she must fulfill two requirements. The first, obviously, is that she has to be biologically female. The second is that she must have never been bred before now. That's it; anything else goes! She can be from your clan already, from the Auction House, have any breed / color / gene combination, be immediately RTB or not -- the sky is the limit. The one thing I recommend without a doubt is that she'd be a dragon you'd permanently keep, because you're going to have her in your hands for quite some time. If you find that you're tiring of your matriarch's look, feel free to scatterscroll her, breed change her, or alter her genes as much as you'd like. The only thing you cannot do is replace her with any other dragoness after the challenge begins. 2. Select the first mate for your matriarch. You may retrieve him over the Auction House, borrow a stud, or pick a permanent resident of your clan -- literally the only requirement for him is that he's biologically male and thus can produce offspring with her. Note how this step says "first" mate. This is because your matriarch cannot breed with the same dragon twice across the duration of this challenge. 3. Breed them once they're both RTB and you have sufficient space! Make a note of how many children they've had and keep it. Maintaining count is key. I'd also recommend making a note of who the mate was, so that you never accidentally "double-dip." 4. When the hatchlings are born, you cannot just immediately exalt them or sell them over the Auction House. On the contrary, you must ensure every hatchling gets a long-term home. This could be anything from becoming someone else's permanent dragon to being bred at least once in someone else's lair. Either way, they need to be kept by someone for a while before being exalted or exalt-trained, if ever. If you want, you may keep any hatchlings you get as long-term residents of your own clan. If you end up selling someone a hatchling and they change their mind and either resell or exalt it, then you are not held accountable for it; after all, the matter at that point would have been out of your hands. However, it might be wise to not sell that person another hatchling for the duration of the challenge. 5. Repeat the process from finding a new mate to sending the hatchlings off to find long-term homes until all 100+ hatchlings have found a place they belong! She found him outside looking through a telescope. He was moving back and forth between the stars above that nearly mirrored his own patternings, and a notebook he kept pinned open with his battle goggles. He dipped a claw into ink and lightly painted the script onto the parchment, then lifted his head back up to the sky. She approached slowly, not trying to startle the warrior. His tail twitched towards the blade settled off to the side with his armor, then his antennae flick and he relaxes, turning and looking to her, a brow ridge lifted. Sanidar's breath caught in her throat for a moment, staring at his dark magenta eyes, rimmed in black. He cleared his throat, his voice soft and comforting, "You're Sanidar. aren't you? It's rather late, what are you doing out here? It's cold." She stepped closer to the larger dragon, settling under an opened wing, "It is cold... She approached him a few days later, while he was out, studying the stars again. "Fenric?" He hummed at her, sketching down further his diagrams. "Fenric?" She attempted again. "Yes, Sanidar?" He sighed, turning to her. "Are you alright?" He didn't meet her eyes. "Sanidar, I'm not meant to be a parent, I don't know how to." She frowned at him, "But, what about Cato?" He frowned, "That's different. He's different. He's not actually mine." "How is it so different?" "Sanidar, I am a warrior. I face death every day, to protect our home and our friends. I can't be distracted by hatchlings..." She sighed, taking a step away, "Then... I'll raise them on my own. If that's what I have to do... Goodbye, Fenric." And she left his side, their warmth together lost. He went back to the battle, the distance between them growing. --- While she may have been the only one watching over them, she was overjoyed when they hatched. Even if neither of them looked quite like her, mostly taking after their father. The first to crack out of the smooth glowing shell was a little boy, tumbling out and landing sitting, staring up at his mother. He smiled, mouth open, bright honey-colored eyes not understanding but gleeful never the less. Sanidar reaches and trails her claws in his short mane, "I'll call you... And as she looked at her brother, he whipped around, and joyfully tackled her. She yelps, but isn't knocked over. She whines, then looks up at their mother, and then scowls at her brother and smacks at him with her wings until he backs away into Sanidar's arms. The girl then sits up, fanning her wings to dry them. Sanidar hums, gently clawing through Leandros' mane. "Hum, little girl... [url=https://www.behindthename.com/name/callirrhoe]Kallirroi[/url].
