Welcome to [b]Basic to Gem[/b] Challenge with a bit of lore!
It's a challenge that also involves lore and story. I wanted to push myself to actually write lore and stories for my own dragon in the future and this seems like a perfect start, since I always wanted to do a challenge like this and decided that now is the time. It’s inspired by berrybbtr’s [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/qnc/3064741]Basic to Gem Thread[/url], but I added my own twists to it. Check out their thread for original rules!

Old stories told of a powerful artifact. An artifact so powerful it could alter reality according to his owner’s will. It is said that this artifact was created at the beginning of The Third Age, after the devastating power of reactor explosion swept over the lands. Soul and magic mixed in and absorbed into an object, living and breathing, and turned into pure melting gold.
But the artifact was lost to time and a crumbling world shaped by gods. It laid in wait deep beneath the ground, shaping the surroundings around it into a beautiful temple of gold.
Years passed and the stories of this powerful artifact circulated. It wasn’t long before a cult arose - The Golden Audience. They seeked to find and retrieve the artifact. Their intention was to revere it as a sacred object. Many years were poured into trying to locate it.
But when it finally was, a tragedy struck...
Mania, one of the prospectors tasked with finding the artifact, rebelled against the will of Golden Audience and together with her loyal subordinates she fought the other group that found the artifact before they did. Surprised by sudden betrayal, the group had no choice but to fight back to save their own lives. But they were outnumbered heavily. Mania used this to slip into the chamber where the artifact was located in an attempt to harness its power.
Unfortunately, she wasn’t there alone, as one of the attacked dragons - Aoide - was ordered to stop her. He attacked her from behind using his size and agility. But Mania wasn’t an easy foe and soon the battle turned in her favor, when she sent him into one of the columns using her tail. Impact caused a column to crumble and some of the underground ruins collapsed. One of the rumbles fell into the artifact and shattered it into two.
It was the chance that Aoide needed. He sprung into action and snatched one of the pieces. Mania attempted to stop him, but his agility allowed him to swiftly dodge her tail and he ran. Ran as fast as he could, avoiding all dragons with surprising ease. Mania followed after him, but even she couldn’t catch him.
The last thing he heard was a furious roar behind him…

After the battle ended, Mania and her subordinates returned to the cave. The battle has ended and no witnesses were left behind. The Traitor claimed her prize and left, leaving everything behind together with her subordinates. The Thief will pay for this.
Aoide successfully returned to one of the smaller branches of the cult. He informed about everything that happened to the chief of that branch. He wanted to surrender the piece he retrieved, but to his surprise he noticed an artifact clinging to him. It chose him.
There was no going back.
Under those circumstances, he traveled to the main headquarters to attend a special meeting of the leaders. They realized that the whole cult is in danger. Mania was unpredictable and most likely will come after the stolen piece. For that reason, they had to learn its power and understand it.
Meanwhile Mania created her own cult - Gilded Sentinels - that worshiped her and her new powers. With new followers, Mania started seeping venom among Golden Audience’s followers. A foul venom filled with lies and promises of perfect life.
And so, the [b]Gilded War[/b] began.
