UPDATE
@RadiMasterpiece | @TEASU | @AngstOnTour | @PurpleAmbience | @brokenCR0WN

Sorry everyone about the long hiatus! We've all been pretty busy with real life stuff (I with heavy writer's block plus swim team, and Radiance with heavy ballet practice), and I just wanted to give an update to everyone!

As of this posting, Radiance will be heading out in a few days (July 1st) to an ballet intensive multiple states away - with (from what I understand lol) little-to-no internet access - for the first half of July. So I'm here to confirm that yes, our Kingdomlocke will be on hold until the second-half of July at the very least!

I didn't want anything to think that we had abandoned this thread, because we haven't! We actually all still have our dragons, but we've all just run into irl problems and have decided to let that take priority.

I have discussed it over with both Radiance and Teas, and we've all agreed to two things: One, when we return, we'll do an interim chapter to kind of discuss and talk about what's happened during our time away with our clans; and two, we will be switching to doing bi-daily pulls and postings instead of daily. That will probably mess with our Rep Trades and my Revival Rolls, but that's future Pharaoh's problem lol

On another note, Teas and I will be starting a Biolocke! The thread should be up either later today or tomorrow! If any of you would like to be on the pinglist for that since this locke is currently on hold, I'd be happy to when it goes up!
(also Radiance we still love you-)

Anyways, I think that's all I have to say here. I hope you all are staying well, and we will see you in July! <3

~ Pharaoh

p.s., Teas is turning a year older soon you should totally tell her happy birbday :>

Sure, one was often busy with his alchemic formulas and the other with her creatures and familiars, but they became quick friends, also taking unofficial charge of the storehouse… which was in shambles after both relocations. Items weren’t really tightly secured, just more of made sure they wouldn’t fall out. Cancer continued to be as cold and uninviting as ever, but trained Canyon intensively. The Aberration ate up the teachings, even coming close to Cancer’s own power. Two heads were better than one, after all. Canyon certainly had twice the strength compared to someone like Cancer, whose species were more inclined to magical attacks. However, despite all of the downtime they had had, Ikiaq was still worried. No matter what he did, he just couldn’t seem to relax like the others could. He rationalized that as the queen’s mate, he had a huge target on his back; perhaps that was why he was so stressed and high-strung? He wasn’t snapping at the others, but he wasn’t enjoying his free time like they were, preferring to take regular patrols around Sornieth. That wasn’t the reason. He knew that. He just didn’t want to admit that Per-a’ah’s sudden total silence terrified him. But eventually he had to, and tried to come to grips with it all. He tried everything: patrols brought up no magical anomalies and no matter how much he concentrated, he just couldn’t seem to reach Per-a’ah like the Outlander could him. The Fae never fully gave up, always staying on his toes for whenever the Outlanders would strike again. Every peacetime had to come to an end. Purple doll-like eyes blinked open, coming to under a sea of brilliant stars. She groaned, standing up. Golden armor jangled all over her body as red wisps slowly danced back to life, having remained dormant for over a month now. 'What happened,’ the Imperial thought to herself, severely dazed and weak. She couldn’t remember much of the time leading right up to her slumber. She chuckled weakly. Such deja vu… had she done it again-? “You’re awake,” the Shadowbinder rumbled. The Outlander of Protection turned, staring at the goddess of darkness unflinchingly. “I thought you’d never awaken.” “What happened?” Per-a’ah asked the boney goddess before himself. A giant cauldron of bright red-yellow liquid bubbled beside him, but the Nocturne couldn’t help but feel comfortable at the mass amounts of heat the Wyrmwound was spewing. It felt like home. “Not sure,” the Plaguebringer scoffed. “One moment, you’re rambling, and the next, you stiffened up, your eyes totally glazed over. Then you collapsed. I couldn’t wake you up no matter what I tried, so I dragged you here.” “Thank you,” the Obelisk breathed, too weak to even get up off the ground. Silver armor adorned his body, and fuschia wisps weakly curled around him. Yellow doll-like eyes stared up at the goddess before him, unafraid to match eyes with her. “For saving me.” “Of course, dear,” the Lightweaver cooed. The Obelisk groaned, trying to stand. The goddess stared at him worriedly. “You need to take it easily, Lumos.” “I need to go,” Mujigae insisted, trying to leave the interior of the Tempest Spire; slowly limping out the door, feeling her vision swim. The god of lightning before her huffed. “Not in that condition, you’re not,” he grabbed her brass armor by a claw and slowly dragged her back. “Besides, what the crap happened back there, huh?! Dragons - especially not not-dragons like yourself - don’t just drop unconscious!” “I don’t know,” Feuille admitted, lying on a bed of moss. “But whatever happened, I need to go. My job isn’t done yet, and I doubt neither are my friends’. We can’t stop here.” “Take a few more days to recuperate,” the Gladekeeper insisted, eyeing the fatigued Skydancer. “You’ve been asleep for a month. Surely you’re hungry,” she grabbed some fruit and nudged them to the Skydancer. Feuille smiled weakly, grabbing the food and biting into it. As dawn shone on a new day, dragons slowly woke from their slumbers, but for the Outlanders it was different. Five powerful dragons slowly regained their strength, biding their time until they could continue this façade in full force. While four of them were truthful, Per-a’ah had lied. Staring down at the golden crown in his hands with a disgusted and tired look, he placed it beside him. ”The Game needs to be paused,” his lord had told him moments before his month-long collapse. ”Urgent business has suddenly come up in A’aru. I cannot have you or your friends loose without my eye on you.” The Nocturne understood. He understood every single thing about this Game: its conditions, its rules, and what was on the line. He stared at the rising sun, words wanting to escape his lips on instinct; a tradition from long, long ago. But instead, he murmured softly to the wind: “May the sun sink into the darkness and shadows reign eternal. Pardon my rudeness, my lord… but I have never lost a Game. I will restore her to her true self, no matter what it takes.” PART II - AWAKENING: GAME START!! [rule] PINGLIST @RadiMasterpiece | @TEASU | @AngstOnTour | @PurpleAmbience | @brokenCR0WN And we are back in business everyone!! Leaders who don’t listen will eventually be surrounded by people who have nothing to say.
Citizens who do only want is ordered will eventually find only one person exists.
People who do what they believe is right will soon find they are not alone.

For Cybernet, Bayou was like a domino. It set off a chain reaction that went all around Cybernet, sending shock through everyone’s systems. Some, those at the meeting, knew it was coming. They were the ones who smiled and cheered in the streets as Sean stood over the bleeding body of Cybernet’s formal Royal.

Some, those who lived the lives of ignorance, heard the cheering and were surprised when Bayou was found dead. They wailed for their queen and the lost age of her tyranny.

One, the one who orchestrated it all, stood by and watched.

That one was Breezy.

In the aftermath, the people banded together to elect a new leader- but no Royalty this time. No, this was a new age… the age of the Autocracy. Rune became the new leader, but the whispers for Nexus were not missed by Breezy.

“Rune.” Breezy had said afterwards, his eyes sparkling. “I’m so proud. But surely, you don’t think you can lead this country alone? One little advisor couldn’t hurt, right?”

Rune considered it, his eyes narrowing.

“Call it your idea.” Breezy whispered in his ear. “No one can compare you to your brother, then.”

It was agreed, then. Breezy became a ‘friend’ to the Leader.

There was only one problem, though. A vital piece of Breezy’s domination puzzle was missing- something that hadn’t been found once and was now gone again. So, as the modern Cybernet arose around him and the Kingdom, he looked for it.

His gaze was focused on nothing but the crown.

REAWAKENING
Interim
tumblr_inline_o21bmybIsc1r3lvtf_400.png
For the first time since before her father was killed, Knell had had a time of rest. Her and her clan.

For over a month now, the clan had been slowly gathering themselves, adjusting to the sudden shift and relocation to the Murkbarrow Close. They kept hidden from the residents inside the hollowed pine tree, not wishing anyone else to get tangled up in the mess they had found themselves in.

However, the clan couldn’t stay silent forever. A Tundra stumbled into their territory and (after almost getting mauled by Canyon) was immediately enraptured by the gang of outliers set up discreetly near the Murkbarrow Close. Moon was her name, and she had a brilliant way with words; so much that Knell asked her to be their in-clan representative, on the rare occasion that someone should join their clan.

With the sudden amount of free time everyone had on their paws, the clan put it to good use.

Knell and Tarquis spent hours on end with each other, the Snapper teaching the Obelisk on how to rule her people. “Your kindness is a wonderful aspect,” she reassured Knell. “But you also need to know when to put your paw down, otherwise your people will go out of control.”

The queen understood. Occasionally, she even dragged her son into these lessons, as much as Averie didn’t want to; he preferred to spend time with Seegan and Ikiaq, especially after Ambar and Gania were chosen for representative trades. But no dragon had come since that trade, so the Kagemushas sent no dragons.

In return for Ambar and Gania, two others joined the clan: Cherry from Solaire, and Cerulean from Cybernet. Cherry spoke highly of her clan, saying that it was flourishing and needed little to no protection. Cerulean, on the other hand, was with Valoran when it came to speaking of Cybernet’s condition: silent and awkward. Whatever had happened to the Arcane clan obviously hadn’t been good.

Speaking of Valoran, he spent a lot of his time with the new reps, preferring to discuss out-of-clan matters with out-of-clan dragons. The Coatl obviously still felt badly out of place in the Kagemushas, despite everyone's efforts to include him. So they eventually left him alone to his endeavors, but entertaining him when he emerged.

Speckle spent the majority of her time trying to invent more and more things: some successful, some not so much. However, her advancements with the extra-life-granting device had improved to astronomical levels: now, it was a simple contraption of sorts that could store extra lives. Due to other problems, however, only one could be given a day, lest it explode or something.

Envelope and Ebony hit it off quickly in their spare time.

“I thought you’d never awaken.”
tumblr_inline_o21bmybIsc1r3lvtf_400.png
“What happened?” Per-a’ah asked the boney goddess before himself.

I couldn’t wake you up no matter what I tried, so I dragged you here.”
tumblr_inline_o21bmybIsc1r3lvtf_400.png
“Thank you,” the Obelisk breathed, too weak to even get up off the ground. Silver armor adorned his body, and fuschia wisps weakly curled around him. Yellow doll-like eyes stared up at the goddess before him, unafraid to match eyes with her. “For saving me.”

“Of course, dear,” the Lightweaver cooed. The Obelisk groaned, trying to stand. The goddess stared at him worriedly. “You need to take it easily, Lumos.”
tumblr_inline_o21bmybIsc1r3lvtf_400.png
“I need to go,” Mujigae insisted, trying to leave the interior of the Tempest Spire; slowly limping out the door, feeling her vision swim. The god of lightning before her huffed.

“Not in that condition, you’re not,” he grabbed her brass armor by a claw and slowly dragged her back. “Besides, what the crap happened back there, huh?! Dragons - especially not not-dragons like yourself - don’t just drop unconscious!”
tumblr_inline_o21bmybIsc1r3lvtf_400.png
“I don’t know,” Feuille admitted, lying on a bed of moss. “But whatever happened, I need to go. My job isn’t done yet, and I doubt neither are my friends’. We can’t stop here.”

“Take a few more days to recuperate,” the Gladekeeper insisted, eyeing the fatigued Skydancer. “You’ve been asleep for a month. Surely you’re hungry,” she grabbed some fruit and nudged them to the Skydancer. Feuille smiled weakly, grabbing the food and biting into it.
tumblr_inline_o21bmybIsc1r3lvtf_400.png
As dawn shone on a new day, dragons slowly woke from their slumbers, but for the Outlanders it was different. Five powerful dragons slowly regained their strength, biding their time until they could continue this façade in full force.

While four of them were truthful, Per-a’ah had lied. Staring down at the golden crown in his hands with a disgusted and tired look, he placed it beside him.

”The Game needs to be paused,” his lord had told him moments before his month-long collapse. ”Urgent business has suddenly come up in A’aru. I cannot have you or your friends loose without my eye on you.”

The Nocturne understood. He understood every single thing about this Game: its conditions, its rules, and what was on the line.

He stared at the rising sun, words wanting to escape his lips on instinct; a tradition from long, long ago. But instead, he murmured softly to the wind:

“May the sun sink into the darkness and shadows reign eternal. Pardon my rudeness, my lord… but I have never lost a Game. I will restore her to her true self, no matter what it takes.”

When the rest of the clan woke up, they began their daily routines as normal; checking the perimeter, counting food supplies, that sort of thing. Knell and Ikiaq were the only exceptions - they have just laid a clutch of 3, and were taking care of their eggs. It seemed that only Averie had noticed Moon’s absence. The Obelisk grew skeptical, trying to figure out where in the world their ambassador-but-not went. So, without telling anyone (including his parents and his best friend Seegan), the Obelisk took flight, and began scouring the world. …Which was harder than he expected. Sornieth was huge; there was no way he was finding one dragon in it all! So after a couple of hours, the heir gave up, flying back to the Kagemusha clan. But then he met his father on the border of Shadow and Light. “Averie?” Ikiaq asked, staring at his son worriedly. What was the Obelisk doing so far away from home? “Why are you out here? …You weren’t assigned patrol duty.” Averie shifted nervously. “Moon… she’s been gone all day,” he said. Ikiaq’s eyebrows lifted up, before his face shifted to a contemplating expression. “I wanna see where she’s gone. She could be outing us!” “She also could’ve just gone for a flight,” Ikiaq sighed, but understood his son’s reservations. The Tome was a dangerous thing… even if Moon wasn’t aware of it at the moment. So he relented, telling Averie he would search the western half of Sornieth while he tackled the eastern. Averie smiled, nodding, and the duo took flight. Ikiaq quickly rushed to Dragonhome and began working his way down, asking people if they had seen a dragon like Moon. Some thought they had, but it turned out to be a different dragon entirely. So he continued moving: through the Scarred Wasteland, Windswept Plateau, Starfall Isles, and finally the Southern Icefields. But he couldn’t find her. He sighed, his wings heavy after the copious amounts of flying he had just done. He steeled himself, taking flight once more and heading home. The flight was a quiet one, with no one bothering him. That is, until he flew over the Wyrmwound again, heading back to the Murkbarrow Close. Suddenly, his entire body went stiff, and his wings cramped. The familiar lingering of Per-a’ah flared up even stronger than it had before, and the Fae soon found himself plummeting to the ground. With horror, he realized he was heading straight for the bubbling cauldron of… something. Probably nothing good. He squeezed his eyes tight, bracing himself. And then his body moved on his own, his wings stretching back out. In one strong flap, he felt his body skyrocket; he opened his Ice-aligned eyes to see the Wyrmwound far below him again. A sigh echoed in the back of his head. “Apologies,” the familiar baritone voice of Per-a’ah rang in his head. “It’s been a while since I’ve control another’s body.” The Fae really didn’t want to think about what that meant. “You need to go to the Hewn City, and quickly; something has taken over your Tundra and is preparing to attack your son,” the Outlander told him, moving Ikiaq’s body towards the Sunbeam Ruins. “Are you kidding me,” Ikiaq muttered, feeling control return to him. He quickly picked up the speed, soaring to Hewn City. He made it there in faster time than he expected. There, he saw Averie fighting off Moon - but it didn’t act like Moon. A flowy maroon aura surrounded her, and her movements were ferocious as she tried to maul Averie. Off to the side, a Skydancer hatchling quivered in fear. The Fae growled, before dive-bombing the Tundra. Moon screeched, before immediately ripping a hole open in Ikiaq’s chest. Blood poured out, and he screeched in return, falling to the ground. He groaned, feeling his energy simultaneously escape him and be restored. Extra lives were useful, he decided then and there. He stood up, seeing Moon staring at him with wide eyes, tears in her eyes, her aura gone. “O-oh my gosh- I am so sorry- I-I didn’t-” she stammered, flying into a panic. Ikiaq shook his head, placing a paw on her shoulder. “It’s okay. I know you weren’t yourself.” She breathed shakily, smiling a watery smile. “Thank you. I… went to go find someone for the Kagemusha clan,” she murmured. “I found Xyre,” she nodded to the hatchling. The tiny Skydancer was still staring at her terrified. She reached her paw out, and the hatchling immediately scrambled to her, crying loudly. “Shh… it’s okay…” she murmured. “And then you got possessed,” Ikiaq murmured. Moon nodded. “Okay, is possession normal?” Averie butted in. Ikiaq sighed heavily. “No. But for our clan, unfortunately, it is.” Averie blinked, eyebrows furrowed. “Don’t worry about it,” Ikiaq soothed him. “You won’t get possessed; I promise.” The Obelisk grinned. “Okay. Let’s head home!” The rest of them nodded, and the four of them took flight, heading home. But he wasn’t able to find sleep just yet. He ran the scene with Per-a’ah over and over again in his mind. The Outlanders had returned from their silence - at least Per-a’ah had. ‘What does this hold for us then,’ Ikiaq mused silently to himself. ‘Are they gonna keep trying to do whatever they were trying to do?’ He glanced out of the tent, watching everyone mull about. ‘What exactly is their agenda…?’ He stopped, trying to connect with Per-a’ah. The link was there, he could feel it, but no response came to him. He sighed, laying his head down and closing his eyes. After the absurd workout he just gave himself, he felt like sleeping through the day. ‘I hope nothing bad happens to everyone…’ [rule] PINGLIST @RadiMasterpiece | @TEASU | @AngstOnTour | @PurpleAmbience | @brokenCR0WN somehow Ikiaq became the MC of my clan story lol- i like the shift honestly - its an excuse to play with the Outlanders more, which will be good since they're coming back twice as much this time around - but apparently Teas hates him XDDD Teas' divider from yesterday: "[time skip *speedruns genshin update*]"

CURRENT LOCATION: MURKBARROW CLOSE

The next morning, Moon had gotten up and left before the sun had even risen.

Ikiaq returned to Knell, snuggling up against his sleeping mate and their eggs. But he wasn’t able to find sleep just yet. He ran the scene with Per-a’ah over and over again in his mind. The Outlanders had returned from their silence - at least Per-a’ah had.

‘What does this hold for us then,’ Ikiaq mused silently to himself. ‘Are they gonna keep trying to do whatever they were trying to do?’

He glanced out of the tent, watching everyone mull about. ‘What exactly is their agenda…?’ He stopped, trying to connect with Per-a’ah. The link was there, he could feel it, but no response came to him. He sighed, laying his head down and closing his eyes. After the absurd workout he just gave himself, he felt like sleeping through the day.

‘I hope nothing bad happens to everyone…’

somehow Ikiaq became the MC of my clan story lol-
i like the shift honestly - its an excuse to play with the Outlanders more, which will be good since they're coming back twice as much this time around - but apparently Teas hates him XDDD

When it came to her new device that granted extra lives, Knell had enforced a rule that either she or her mate had to be there at all times. Safety reasons, was all she said. Ikiaq knew that she was still frustrated that, after all this time, she wasn’t able to open the Tome. Only Per-a’ah and Feuille had recognized her as the current Kagemusha ruler… the other Outlanders hadn’t - heck, they hadn’t even met the fifth yet! So the Fae entered Speckle’s workshop (Knell wrapping up a meeting with Tarquis), where she was grinning at a silently panicking Cerulean. Ikiaq laughed inside, knowing exactly what Cerulean was feeling. After his possession and subsequent role as a guinea pig for Speckle, the Fae had truly seen it all. “A-are you sure this?” “Of course I am!” Speckle said enthusiastically. The device was placed on the table, echoing with a flashing counter of five lives inside of it - the max from what Ikiaq understood of Speckle’s long speech to him and Knell when she made it originally. “It doesn’t hurt,” Ikiaq reassured the Guardian. Cerulean yelped. “Speckle used me as her guinea pig all the time before she reached this level of mastery.” Speckle blushed, waving the Fae away. “Are you ready?” Cerulean squirmed some more and Speckle tried to coax him into doing the thing. Ikiaq perked up, feeling his mate come closer. In the month or so that the Outlanders had been silent, his and Knell’s bond had grown exponentially; depending on their distance from each other, they could sense where the other was by their body temperatures. For Ikiaq, the further Knell was, the hotter he got. “Sorry I’m late,” she panted, nudging her mate. Ikiaq only laughed softly, telling her she had missed nothing. “Speckle’s still trying to convince Cerulean to do it,” Ikiaq rolled his eyes. Knell chuckled, before stepping forward. “Speckle,” she said; the Veilspun jumped, before spotting that the Kagemusha princess was in front of her and bowing rapidly. “It’s alright if Cerulean doesn’t want to, you know.” “I want to!” Cerulean insisted. “I do!” He turned confidently to Speckle. “Do it!” “That worked,” Ikiaq muttered as Knell backtracked to sit beside him. They watched as the engineer prepared the appropriate measures for giving the extra life, and then began. The device’s screen glowed white, before it turned to black and a white heart appeared on screen. Below it, a counter flickered to life: “1/1”. The heart turned from white to yellow, and then disappeared. Everyone watched in amazement as a faint glow began to radiate from Cerulean. The counter turned to “2/2” before blinking away. “Congrats! You are now the proud owner of another life!” Speckle grinned. Cerulean smiled back, before bowing to the ruler and her mate. “Thank you,” he said. Knell waved it off, before her eyes went wide. Ikiaq blinked, feeling confusion radiate from her side of the bond. She reached in and pulled out the Tome, which was glowly - specifically, the rising falcon was glowing a cream-gold. Then, an orb appeared out of the glowing symbol, causing everyone but Cerulean to gasp, realizing what it was. The orb went into Knell’s chest, and the glow died down. Everyone was silent for a moment, before Ikiaq’s claw carefully feathered over the symbol that was glowing. “Who… which one was that?” “Lumos, the Outlander of Kindness,” Knell muttered, before tucking the Tome away. “What was that?” Cerulean asked. Everyone else groaned, not wanting to tell the long and somewhat-horrific story that was the Kagemusha clan’s history; the poor Guardian was left in the dark. The Obelisk staggered, falling back to the ground. The Lightweaver was immediately hovering over him. “You need to recover, Lumos; you’re pushing yourself.” Lumos panted in reply, his breathed ragged. He threw his silver mask-helmet away, revealing tired doll-like gold-yellow eyes underneath, boasting flecks of amethyst as well. “I-I’ll be fine,” he reassured the goddess of light, but not standing up; instead, he curled up inside the bed of Daffodils that laid on the ground level of the BEacon of the Radiant Eye. The two sat in silence for a few moments before the Lightweaver spoke again: “Why did you make your move now?” Lumos shrugged. “I… was told I could. I was held back by other forces outside of this Game, you see: they… placed me in the role of my friends’ usually takes on. But she couldn’t this time. So I took that role, and couldn’t do much. But now I can.” “And you give the Kagemusha princess an extra life.” The Obelisk sighed, laying his head down. “I… don’t accept violence… but if I have to, I will fight for my friends…” This I swear, Uncle. Sure, abandoning his mate in the middle of their deep brief over the lost of two of their newborns was maybe a bit of a jerk move, but they both understood that it would spiral for Ikiaq otherwise. Knell needed to wade in her grief for a bit before she could move on. Ikiaq needed to fly. Needed to think. And so he flew wherever his wings and the current took him. Which was to the Viridian Labyrinth, it seemed. The Fae smiled bitterly, thinking back at how he had found Canyon here so long ago. The Aberration had grown so much in such a short time… ‘Everyone has,’ he thought. He landed himself in the Gladebough Village and slowly began strolling through. The dragons there paid him no mind - they had travelers come through here often, and as long as he wasn’t Plague-aligned they didn’t care. The Fae wandered about, occasionally poking into shops here and there. There wasn’t anything special about the village, but it was quiet. He smiled; Knell would love this place. He closed a shop’s door behind him, and turned around only to bump into another dragon. “Oh- I’m sorry,” he murmured, before looking up at the dragon he had bumped into. Nature-aligned eyes stared down at him as the blue Wildclaw silently observed him. Then, he smiled. “Are you okay?” “Yeah,” Ikiaq replied, standing up. “Sorry about that.” “It’s fine,” the Wildclaw replied. “You seemed lost in thought, so I don’t blame you. It can be hard to be aware of stuff around you in that case.” Ikiaq flinched. Was he… that easy to read? The Wildclaw chuckled, as if reading his mind. “Apologies; I’ve been told I’m good at reading people.” “It’s fine,” the Fae replied. “My name’s Ikiaq. Do you like here?” “No; I grew up here, though, and so I decided to take a vacation of sorts and see how its grown,” the other said. “I live in the Mirrorlight Promenade usually, along with my mate and the rest of our clan.” Ikiaq hummed, before perking up. A soft cry echoed from… all around him… he glanced around, trying to pinpoint the sound of the cry. Where was it? “What is it?” His new friend asked. “I… something’s crying,” Ikiaq said. The Wildclaw blinked, before straining to hear. “I don’t hear anything,” he murmured, making Ikiaq worry. Was this-? “But your kind are better at sensing stuff than mine is. Lead the way.” Ikiaq breathed before nodding and taking flight a little and shooting off down a pathway. He heard the Wildclaw keep up with him with relative ease - Wildclaws were exceptional runners, after all. The two ran/flew for a bit before Ikiaq dived down into a lower level of the village. The Wildclaw breathed, eyeing the drop down. Too far; he would hurt himself. He caught sight of enlarged roots and nodded. He jumped down, pushing himself off of one root to land on another, slowly gaining speed. Finally he hit the ground and continued running, Ikiaq barely in his sights. Ikiaq weaved through the lower levels of the Gladebough Village, where settlements started to blend in with the Behemoth. His mind focused completely on the cries, tuning out everything else except the faint thought of the wind underneath his wings. “Are you… in this way?” Per-a’ah echoed in his head, his voice fading in and out due to Feuille’s heavy influence over the Viridian Labyrinth. Ikiaq wordlessly confirmed it, hearing the cries grow louder. He couldn’t both fly and hear the cries, but he couldn’t leave the helpless dragon alone either. So, without any prompting, he felt his body go numb and Per-a’ah slink into control. “There,” he mentally pointed through a cluster of thick roots, thorny vines, and leaves. Only a small opening greeted them - just big enough for Ikiaq to squeeze through if he did it right. He felt Per-a’ah grunt, before gaining speed, heading straight for the opening. His wings stretched out as far as they could go before Per-a’ah tucked his wings close to his body and began spinning. Ikiaq winced, feeling a couple of thorns prick him, but they made it through otherwise unharmed. Per-a’ah panted heavily in the back of his mind before Ikiaq felt him collapse and fade from his consciousness; he slowly regained feeling to his body. “Thank you,” he murmured, never thinking he would ever say that to an Outlander. He glanced around the small hidden abode, where only a single house laid inside. Everything looked the same as every other house: wooden rustic-style abodes with fairy lights hanging from the roots. But this home… Ikiaq’s nose scrunched up, before he approached the small, crying hatchling on the ground in front of the house. The black Gaoler with white markings looked up at him with with Ice-aligned eyes, and the Fae couldn’t help but sigh sadly. He looked at the house warily, sensing the presence of the Shade echoing from it. He looked down at the small hatchling he had gathered in his arms: Shade in it too, but not to a point of danger. “Mate of the Kagemusha ruler, leave this place,” a voice echoed through the hidden space. Ikiaq looked up, only now feeling a strong aura echoing from above him. “Any longer and it will stain you.” The Fae hummed, turning and approaching the cluster of nature. He winced, only now realizing that… yeah, without Per-a’ah he was never making it through that space. But then it all receded a little, making a little gap. “Go,” the voice urged him again. The Fae took flight, carefully cradling the hatchling to his chest and carefully maneuvering through and out. “There you are,” the Wildclaw he had met earlier was there. “I lost you.” “Sorry,” Ikiaq apologized. The hatchling in his arms squirmed, looking at the Wildclaw with wide eyes. “I found this guy inside.” “He’s…” the Wildclaw breathed, immediately picking up on what Ikiaq already knew. The Fae nodded. “He’s harmless at this level,” he said. The Wildclaw nodded, agreeing with him. “What are you going to do with him?” The Wildclaw asked. Ikiaq hummed, thinking for a moment. “I’m gonna take him home with me. To the Murkbarrow Close,” he said softly, feeling the hatchling slowly drift off to sleep in his arms. “And maybe there he can live a normal-ish life. Learn to control his state. Bring some joy to my mate…” “That’s a good idea,” the Wildclaw said. “In that case, I wish you a pleasant journey home,” he turned to leave, and Ikiaq smiled. “And tell Knell I said hello, hm?” With that, he was off, leaving a bewildered Ikiaq behind. Then he laughed softly, realizing that all along, his impromptu companion was in fact Tide, one of the Solaire clan. The Fae spread his wings and took off, soaring higher and higher until he breeched the bright azul sky above him - the start of another day. He glanced around the small hidden abode, where only a single house laid inside. Everything looked the same as every other house: wooden rustic-style abodes with fairy lights hanging from the roots. But this home…

Ikiaq’s nose scrunched up, before he approached the small, crying hatchling on the ground in front of the house.

“Any longer and it will stain you.”

The Fae hummed, turning and approaching the cluster of nature.

“I lost you.”

“Sorry,” Ikiaq apologized. The hatchling in his arms squirmed, looking at the Wildclaw with wide eyes. “I found this guy inside.”

“He’s…” the Wildclaw breathed, immediately picking up on what Ikiaq already knew.

Bring some joy to my mate…”

“That’s a good idea,” the Wildclaw said. “In that case, I wish you a pleasant journey home,” he turned to leave, and Ikiaq smiled. “And tell Knell I said hello, hm?”

With that, he was off, leaving a bewildered Ikiaq behind. Then he laughed softly, realizing that all along, his impromptu companion was in fact Tide, one of the Solaire clan.

The Fae spread his wings and took off, soaring higher and higher until he breeched the bright azul sky above him - the start of another day.

Beside her, Gania hobbled along, muttering to herself. Avry said nothing to comfort her companion, just casting a glance over her before her bright eyes returned to the road and the looming form of the palace in the distance, the exterior lights bright. They weren’t soft and welcoming, though, they were scary. “C’mon.” Avry commanded, picking up the pace. “We’re almost there.” She was annoyed that she couldn’t fly over there, walking always was such a pain. After all, she had wings for a reason, right? However, Queen Knell would be disappointed if she left Gania to die. She let out a breath as Gania did her best to speed up. The two found their way to the palace a few minutes later, Gania finally collapsing onto the marbled steps, breathing hard. “Fine, then.” Avry frowned. “You stay here. I’ll make sure they send out a medic.” Then she turned around, internally rolling her eyes. Onward she walked into the palace, about to open the door, before a guard spotted her. He was tall and muscular, the color of flesh. “Hey, you!” He yelled, taking a step in front of her to block the door. “What’s your business at the palace? Rune and his court take certified visitors only.” Avry narrowed her eyes. “My name is Avry. I’m the representative from the Kagemusha Kingdom.” She said, her tone cold. “I believe you’re expecting me?” Bruiser looked the skydancer over, wrinkling his nose. “You look like a cow and you smell like blood.” He said, a faint accent pushing through his voice. He must have been a freeloader at some point. “How do I know it’s you?” Avry was about to snap back a retort before the large palace door opened with a creak, revealing a wiry fae wearing a golden crown on his head. He looked between the two, before smiling- but it didn’t reach his eyes. “Bruiser. What’s the problem here?” He asked. “We don’t treat our newcomers like this.” He gestured for Avry to come inside. “Please, I’m so sorry. He’s not the best welcoming party.” Bruiser flinched at this, his eyes flashing with sadness. Avry noticed this reaction and furrowed her eyebrows. How could those kinds of words hurt him so bad? It seemed almost physical. The fae gestured for Avry to follow him down the hall and the female followed, glancing around. The palace, though spacious, didn’t have much in it. “We’re still working on it.” The fae said, as if reading her mind. “We’ll get some more things at some point. Anyway, I’m Breezy- the king’s advisor.” Avry nodded at him. “It’s nice to meet you.” She managed a smile. “I’m excited to be a representative in your kingdom.” [rule] REAWAKENING Day VI | A Symphony of Life and Death Job activations

Speckle (Engineer) | Flip a coin and roll a d20. Then, he heard footsteps and jumped up, quickly placing it back on his head as he saw Breezy walk into the room, a young Skydancer at his side. “Oh, Breezy, who is this?” Rune asked, tilting his head with a forced smile. “I’m Avry.” The skydancer said, bowing her head. “It’s an honor to speak with you, your majesty.” She said, glancing up. Beside her, Breezy smiled at Rune, eyes glittering. Rune forced another smile and ducked his head. “I’m so grateful for you to have come. How’s the Kagemusha kingdom?” He began to say, before, suddenly, darkness swept over the room. It was like someone had blown out the sun- it was so dark, the only light being the lantern Rune had kept on. In the darkness, Avry’s heart skipped a beat, before someone burst into the room. Her eyes sparkled with madness. “Wait, what-” Bolos, a new-comer, started as he scooted away from Sean. The crowd just kept talking. “Guys, shut up!” Avry yelled, and then everyone fell silent. “Thank you, um, Avry.” Rune said, nodding to her. “Everyone, I don’t know what’s going on.” He said, and Wisemail could practically feel nervousness radiating off the dragons next to him. “But we’ll be okay. He was always smiling. “We go west.” He said, glancing around the crowd of uncertain and fearful faces. “We hide in the mountain for a few hours and leave when it’s time. Nothing bad will happen.” He said, nodding. Then, a pebble hit the ground, landing right beside Toxin. The gruff dragon looked down, her eyebrows furrowing. Then, there was another one- and another one. Now, it was raining rocks. Wisemail began to run, following the panicked crowd towards the mountain rising in the distance. Tiny rocks hit his scales, feeling like fiery embers. He pushed onwards, though, muttering encouragements to himself. Closer he got, before he heard a roar from behind him. He paused for a moment, turning to a body on the ground, a huge rock covering their features. They were kicking, struggling, but soon their efforts began to slow. Moments later, they stopped. Wisemail took a step closer, spotting a tail from beneath, before he felt the wind knocked out of him. Something hit his side, causing him to go down, his body crushed under the weight of this. He couldn’t breath- couldn’t think- he found himself unable to even move. He struggled too, turning his head to find a large rock on top of him. His eyes widened, but darkness began to fill his vision. Is this it? Is this how I die? He took a breath, trying to savor the crisp cool air before the world ended. Everything around her was loud, the sound of rocks echoing around the cave behind her. She watched as the citizens of Cybernet dropped like flies, each taken down by a large rock. Wisemail… Toxin… Sean… all suffocating to death. Then, her gaze shifted. One more person was bringing up the rear, tripping over themselves to reach it. Gania recognized them immediately. It was Rune- and he was hurt. The storm outside was growing, the rocks growing larger and larger. He wasn’t going to make it. Then, a rock began to fall from the sky, heading straight for him. Worse yet, it hit him. Gania gasped as Cybernet’s third leader went down. Could this kingdom even stand to lose one more? Her job as a representative was to support it, not to stand by and let it happen. She started to run, ignoring the calls of Avry behind her. And as Gania began to run, charging against the frenzied rain of rocks, her gem began to glow. The creature let out a wail, but was soon felled a moment later. The Gaoler stared at it for a moment before grabbing it and bringing it back to the makeshift campsite their small ragtag group had made, consisting of Cherry, Ebony, Envelope, Averie, and Steelsun. “What was it like?” Averie was asking Steelsun when Cleric returned back to camp. Envelope’s jaw dropped at the haul Cleric had brought it, but just shook his head and took the dead creature from them. Steelsun tapped his chin in thought, looking up at the starry sky. “Well, for a while, I floated in darkness… then, I was standing in front of a big set of scales. There were two Beastclan-like beings. But they weren’t like any Beastclans I had ever seen.” “What do you mean?” Ebony asked, having moved over to Envelope to help him tally up the amount of meat Cleric’s haul would be adding to the warehouse. “For starters, they had flat feet,” Steelsun said, making Averie go “ooooh”. “One of them had green skin, and the other had a wolf-like head! And there was this really weird creature in the corner, too. It looked like a mess of a bunch of different creatures.” “So one was a dryad,” Cherry commented, idly rummaging through her knapsack. “Also I hope you brought your own food. I wasn’t planning on sustaining five other dragons, you know.” “We’ll use some of our kills now and preserve the rest for the warehouse,” Ebony commented. “I don’t think he was a dryad,” Steelsun continued. “He told me that my heart would be weighing on those scales… but only after my time had truly passed.” “Huh?” Averie blinked. Steelsun shrugged. “I’m not sure what he meant by that. But I sat there for a few days, seeing a lot of flatfooted Beastclan-like people come through. A lot of them passed through into the corridor of light behind the green-skinned being, but a bunch of them also got eaten by the mashup creature.” Cleric shuddered. “That sounds scary,” they said. Steelsun nodded, eyeing Cleric warily, but the Gaoler brushed it off. They got that a lot from the others; they knew if was because they could shift personalities so easily. They understood their wariness. “After a while, I felt… heavier. A lot heavier. The green-skinned being told me that they had decided to revive me… he sounded really surprised when this happened.” “Who revived you?” Cherry asked; even she was interested in the story now as everyone ignored Envelope and Ebony’s quiet whispers in the background. Steelsun shook his head. “I… I don’t remember. I know I saw them, but… I can’t remember much. All I know is that it was an Imperial. And then I was soaring through the sky, and I caught Dad, and then I flew home… and then just kinda blacked out.” Silence hung in the air for a while, before Ebony broke the silence: “So, uh… whose turn it is to hunt?” “Mine,” Envelope sighed. Cleric stood up and took off the small lights they had put in their fur and wove it into Envelope’s. The Alchemist thanked them, then headed into the pitch-black forest, their glowing self slowly growing smaller on the horizon. Cleric sighed, turning back to the campfire. Steelsun looked at Cleric. “How did you join the clan?” Cleric hummed. “Like you, it’s a little blurry for me. I was really young when Ikiaq found me.” “Ikiaq found you?” Averie’s eyes went wide. “I never knew that.” Cleric shrugged, watching the fire intensely. “Ikiaq told me that he found me in the Behemoth… in front of a Shade-touched destroyed house. I have some of the Shade in me, you know.” Averie looked a little uncomfortable, but Ebony placed a claw on his shoulder. “And that’s okay. We’ve dealt with worse. I’ve heard worse tales than the Shade from Cerulean and Valoran.” Averie shuddered. “That woman… Bayou sounded like a nightmare.” “It was pretty surprising to hear that Cerulean is her son,” Cherry commented, looking up from her map. Everyone glanced around the fire, remembering the public meeting in question. After Wonder, Valoran, and Cerulean had come clean about Cybernet’s history, tragedies, and current state of affairs, and after the clan had finished relocating, Knell had called a public meeting. There, she repeated the entire Cybernet timeline for everyone to know. During it, Tarquis revealed the events that happened prior to Bayou’s rule. Cerulean even brought up his heritage as Bayou’s son. The clan received all of this pretty well, considering their own horrific encounters with the Outlanders and their constant moving. “Cerulean’s a good guy, though,” Envelope’s voice broke the silence. Everyone turned to see the Gaoler break through the treeline, hauling a Featherfoot Spingy. “I do feel bad for him, though.” “Son of a tyrant? Seems pretty terrible,” Averie commented. “What do you think would be worse?” Cleric asked. Averie considered this hard for a moment, before sighing. “Once, I saw Moon get possessed by something. It was terrifying… she wasn’t like herself. She seemed to only see red… see me in a pool of red. Had Dad not come and stop her, I might be dead. So… I think if someone powerful in the clan got possessed and tried to kill everyone.” “Like Ikiaq?” Envelope asked softly. Averie nodded with an enthusiastic “yeah!”. Envelope sighed. “This probably isn’t my place to tell, but… your father did get possessed once.” “Huh?” Everyone turned to Envelope, varying levels of shock in their forms. “You mean… Ikiaq was-?” Cherry muttered. “A long time ago,” Envelope said, sitting down around the fire; everyone joined him, watching him intensely as Envelope recounted the story of Ikiaq’s possession by Per-a’ah, and the resulting attempts on Minduil and Knell’s lives. How he did no physical injury, but- “Ever since then, he wasn’t totally the same. He gets lost in his thoughts a lot more,” Envelope said. Everyone glanced at one another, Averie and Steelsun looking the most worried. “What if he gets possessed again?” Averie muttered, digging his claws into the dirt. “He’ll be okay. He’s Ikiaq, he gets himself out of terrible situations all the time,” Ebony chuckled, and the entire group (minus Cherry) laughed for a while, relieving the tension in the air. Finally, Cleric spoke up: “I want to be a doctor.” Everyone blinked, looking at the Shade-touched Gaoler. They looked up, facing everyone with pride. “I want to help others, either with their sicknesses or injuries or even figuring out how to help them not get possessed! But… I want to cure myself. I don’t want to be a figure of disgust or unease to others.” “You’re not disgusting!” Averie shot up, looking horrified, but Cleric cut him off: “But I make you uncomfortable!” They shouted, before slinking back. “I don’t want to seem like I’m scary because I have the Shade in me… so I want to do something good!” Ebony and Envelope smiled. “You’ll be a great doctor, Cleric,” Ebony reassured them, making them smiled. Everyone voiced their agreements, even Cherry a bit. Steelsun looked up at the sky as the others got to talking about more mundane things, mulling over the story Envelope had told him. His father had been possessed… and he wasn’t ever the same since… ‘Is… is there something you’re not telling everyone, Dad?’ Ikiaq sneezed, hearing Knell and Per-a’ah bless him, one in the real world and one in his mind. He sniffled. “Thanks.” “Someone might be talking about you?” Ikiaq stumbled, and Per-a’ah chuckled. “Where I come there, there’s a superstition held by some that if you sneeze, someone’s talking about you.” “You okay?” Knell looked at her mate worried as they headed back to their tent. “Y-Yeah, I’m fine,” Ikiaq chuckled, nuzzling Knell, who nuzzled back. “Don’t worry about it.” “Okay,” she murmured, heading to curl up. Ikiaq curled up with her and closed his eyes. “Your son… Steelsun,” Per-a’ah murmured in his mind. “People don’t just come back from the dead, y’know. I had to argue with like, three gods. Is this it? Is this how I die?

He took a breath, trying to savor the crisp cool air before the world ended.

Gania stood on the top of a cliff, clutching her rock; eyes wide as lightning flashed around her.

Cleric loses a life.

CURRENT LOCATION: DRIFTWOOD DRAG

Cleric pounced on a moving flower, revealing it to be an Aurelian Porcupine.

But they weren’t like any Beastclans I had ever seen.”

“What do you mean?” Ebony asked, having moved over to Envelope to help him tally up the amount of meat Cleric’s haul would be adding to the warehouse.

“For starters, they had flat feet,” Steelsun said, making Averie go “ooooh”. “One of them had green skin, and the other had a wolf-like head! And there was this really weird creature in the corner, too. It looked like a mess of a bunch of different creatures.”

“So one was a dryad,” Cherry commented, idly rummaging through her knapsack. “Also I hope you brought your own food. I wasn’t planning on sustaining five other dragons, you know.”

“We’ll use some of our kills now and preserve the rest for the warehouse,” Ebony commented.

“I don’t think he was a dryad,” Steelsun continued. “He told me that my heart would be weighing on those scales… but only after my time had truly passed.”

“Huh?” Averie blinked. Steelsun shrugged.

“I’m not sure what he meant by that. But I sat there for a few days, seeing a lot of flatfooted Beastclan-like people come through. A lot of them passed through into the corridor of light behind the green-skinned being, but a bunch of them also got eaten by the mashup creature.”

Cleric shuddered.

The green-skinned being told me that they had decided to revive me… he sounded really surprised when this happened.”

“Who revived you?” Cherry asked; even she was interested in the story now as everyone ignored Envelope and Ebony’s quiet whispers in the background.

Steelsun shook his head. “I… I don’t remember. I know I saw them, but… I can’t remember much. All I know is that it was an Imperial. And then I was soaring through the sky, and I caught Dad, and then I flew home… and then just kinda blacked out.”

Silence hung in the air for a while, before Ebony broke the silence: “So, uh… whose turn it is to hunt?”

“Mine,” Envelope sighed.

“How did you join the clan?”

Cleric hummed. “Like you, it’s a little blurry for me. I was really young when Ikiaq found me.”

“Ikiaq found you?” Averie’s eyes went wide. “I never knew that.”

Cleric shrugged, watching the fire intensely. “Ikiaq told me that he found me in the Behemoth… in front of a Shade-touched destroyed house. I have some of the Shade in me, you know.”

Averie looked a little uncomfortable, but Ebony placed a claw on his shoulder. “And that’s okay. We’ve dealt with worse. I’ve heard worse tales than the Shade from Cerulean and Valoran.”

Averie shuddered. “That woman… Bayou sounded like a nightmare.”

“It was pretty surprising to hear that Cerulean is her son,” Cherry commented, looking up from her map.

“I do feel bad for him, though.”

“Son of a tyrant? Seems pretty terrible,” Averie commented.

“What do you think would be worse?” Cleric asked. Averie considered this hard for a moment, before sighing.

“Once, I saw Moon get possessed by something. It was terrifying… she wasn’t like herself. She seemed to only see red… see me in a pool of red. Had Dad not come and stop her, I might be dead. So… I think if someone powerful in the clan got possessed and tried to kill everyone.”

“Like Ikiaq?” Envelope asked softly. Averie nodded with an enthusiastic “yeah!”. Envelope sighed. “This probably isn’t my place to tell, but… your father did get possessed once.”

“Huh?” Everyone turned to Envelope, varying levels of shock in their forms.

How he did no physical injury, but-

“Ever since then, he wasn’t totally the same.

Finally, Cleric spoke up:

“I want to be a doctor.”

Everyone blinked, looking at the Shade-touched Gaoler. They looked up, facing everyone with pride. “I want to help others, either with their sicknesses or injuries or even figuring out how to help them not get possessed! But… I want to cure myself. I don’t want to be a figure of disgust or unease to others.”

“You’re not disgusting!” Averie shot up, looking horrified, but Cleric cut him off:

“But I make you uncomfortable!” They shouted, before slinking back. “I don’t want to seem like I’m scary because I have the Shade in me… so I want to do something good!”

Ebony and Envelope smiled. “You’ll be a great doctor, Cleric,” Ebony reassured them, making them smiled. Everyone voiced their agreements, even Cherry a bit.

Steelsun looked up at the sky as the others got to talking about more mundane things, mulling over the story Envelope had told him. His father had been possessed… and he wasn’t ever the same since…

‘Is… is there something you’re not telling everyone, Dad?’

Ikiaq sneezed, hearing Knell and Per-a’ah bless him, one in the real world and one in his mind. He sniffled. “Thanks.”

“Someone might be talking about you?”

Ikiaq stumbled, and Per-a’ah chuckled. “Where I come there, there’s a superstition held by some that if you sneeze, someone’s talking about you.”

“You okay?” Knell looked at her mate worried as they headed back to their tent.

“Y-Yeah, I’m fine,” Ikiaq chuckled, nuzzling Knell, who nuzzled back. “Don’t worry about it.”

“Okay,” she murmured, heading to curl up. Ikiaq curled up with her and closed his eyes.

“Your son… Steelsun,” Per-a’ah murmured in his mind. “People don’t just come back from the dead, y’know. I had to argue with like, three gods. How did he come back so easily?”

Ikiaq shrugged, unable to respond lest Knell hear.

“Hmm…” Per-a’ah thought for a moment, before shaking himself out of his stupor. “Apologies. I’ll leave you alone now.”

And with that, the Outlander fled his mind. Leaving Ikiaq alone. The Fae sighed, and slipped into sleep.
