Entry 42
Littlescale was set down carefully on the ground in front of the Tundra. An array of dragons watched behind her. Some of them rushed into the hibernal den. As a masked mirror rushed into the den, MoltenCore leapt up.
"Someone stop her!!"
The Tundra looked at him quizzically.
"NightOcean is in there!!"
The Tundra tilted her head quizzically, but Evaleena turned and pointed out five other dragons.
"Get in there quickly. Stop her or remove the corpse."
After the brief flurry of activity, there was an eerie pause. Littlescale felt many eyes upon her. She decided it was best not to speak first.
"So, the intruders from before have returned, and to be of assistance in our darkest hour. Seems rather unusual, hmm?" the mild voice came from the gentle, furry face.
"I am Kefalotyri, she who guides this clan. I find it interesting also that many of you, including You who leads them" and here she inclined her head towards Littlescale, " have familiar scents."
"Some of these are rescues from the den. I think I can only recognize this leader from before; the rest of the others do not seem to be here any longer." Evaleena gazed at the small remnants of the band.
Before anyone could say anything further, there were sharp cracking sounds. Gwayth flinched as her eggs hatched, carried along with her as she could not leave them behind.
Three hatchlings emerged, all extremely different. Kefalotyri watched this with interest before whispering to Evaleena. There was a tense moment while the two conversed secretly.
"I have a proposition to make, but I do wish first to hear of your intentions in our territory." Kefalotyri said finally, looking rather directly at Littlescale.
Littlescale firmed her resolve, even those it was a bit challenging while under the icy stare of Kefalotyri.
"We don't wish to intrude on your territory any further. Unfortunately, we cannot find the way out of this place, so I decided to try and return to you to request your aid in leaving. I would imagine you want us out of here as soon as possible."
Kefalotyri gave Littlescale a rather odd look, before flashing a wide smile.
"But of course that can be arranged, if that is indeed what you truly wish. However, such a service must be repayed in kind, don't you think? Your assitance in the den; although exemplary, has merely payed off for your... uninvited stay. Anything further and you must render us a service first."
Evaleena glanced quickly down at the Tundra before suddenly and unexpectedly producing a notebook and pen.
Littlescale swallowed, she didn't like the sound of this but figured she had no choice but to at least listen. "What is your request?"
Kefalotyri's smile grew wider and more gentle. "Well, as you have no doubt noticed, we are currently plagued by rather more HOSTILE intruders than you yourselves have been. And I have been thinking. Why endanger my clan when there are seasoned warriors right here who can handle the situation?"
The tundra swished her fluffy tail while the guardian carefully transcribed some notes.
"I have inducted a small number of the veilspun into my clan and they are perfectly reasonable, but these others that have assaulted us must be dealt with in some fashion. I can send you with a guide of your choice so you know which areas are our territory, and then I intend for you to work on removing this threat.
A month of your time doing so, and I will be happy to allow any survivors to leave my lands."
She paused, and then gave a quick clap.
"Also, you must leave your hatchlings with us until they are grown, there is simply no need to send them off into war before they can even fight, wouldn't you agree? When they are grown, I will have them sent to you. Trained, of course."
Littlescale looked at the ground. This didn't sound ideal, but it was only for a month. It sounded like their best chance, and she wasn't sure she wanted to discover what the alternative option would be.
"Very well."
"Good, good! Go forth now, see if you can recruit more warriors into your band, you will certainly need them. I will send you a selection of volunteers as guides this evening. Oh you needn't worry... they absolutely will find you. Pick one you're comfortable with and send the rest back."
Kefalotyri nodded.
"Go my mercenaries. You are dismissed."
(Phase 1: recruiting)
Failures
Today's New Recruit
As they wandered in the forest, Littlescale called out to dragons as they passed. "Recruiting to fight the invaders! Safety in numbers! Join us, and we will escape in a month!"
Eventually a Skydancer approached.
"They got my sister. I will come with you for now."
(Phase 2: EVENT)
Backstabbing
Near the end of the evening, Littlescale gathered the band.
"Where's Hagen?"
After a search they found her, her eye missing and bloody. Shaking her, she was cold and did not move.
"What the... when? How did this happen?" Littlescale stared about her.
"We've seen hardly anyone all day!... hardly...anyone...!"

When darkness finally fell, there was a rustling and approaching lights. Littlescale gripped her sword, and rousted the rest of the band.
"Hello hello again, my adorable little playmates! I decided to volunteer, and why not, look at the experience I have with guiding you around already! I think it would be soooo much fun to continue to hang out with all of you!"
the fireflies glittered around MoltenCore, as his eyes glowed eerily in the dark.
"We're not here to play about. We have to get rid of the threats." the coatl looked cooly at the group. "I am Oak. I would say that we have an equivalent amount of knowledge of the area."
"Ah... hello...I am... StarryNight."
"And I am Schala! Oh, look at the poor dears. They do appear to have been through SO much." The Nocturne's behaviour and tone in no way seemed to be upset by the situation she saw before her.
Littlescale was nonplussed. Who of these should she choose as her guide?
