If it’s in my active purge tab, take them. I want them gone.

Hey remember that time I left Flightrising for like 6 months and abandoned my year-long breeding challenge? eh...hehe...ehh....*drags nails down face*

Anyway. SORRY GUYS. Life kinda got in the way big time and then I got kind of overwhelmed about coming back and...well. Now I'm back from another of my signature Long Hiatus Periods.

BUT! It HAS been a year, even if I haven't been breeding my dudes like I was supposed to be. Let's check in and see how we're doing, shall we?

SCORE TALLY
Fugue managed 21 children. Of those, 6 survived, five of whom are being fully loved and spoiled in their lairs (thanks y'all).

Give it up for these cute kids!

Among the monsters, there are a total of.....

....4 surviving Plague monsters...
......7 surviving Death ghosts.......
.........2 surviving Famine beasts....
............10 surviving harbingers of war.....

That gives us a grand total of....*drumroll* 17 good guys and 23 bad guys.

uh-oh. That doesn't bode well for our heroes, does it?

Big lore season finale coming up in the next post.

And, hey! Thanks to EVERYONE who stuck around, adopted babies, left encouraging comments and otherwise have been awesome. Sorry I totally vanished there for a while.

@TheAwesoMew @TwilightStars @Foxe @TropicalDiamonds @BlueJaysFeather @RadientAngel @FinalValkyrie21 @Morigan @MysteryGyn @Everburn @Nargeorgicorn @Jaspernoir @smeen @Amezrou @BarbaraFett @OceanPuppy @JadeDragon18 @KrazKitCat

Rafadel cringed in the doorway, peering at Pascale with a feeling of intense trepidation. "You come to tell me that our efforts have come to nothing," Pascale said, casually inspecting the nails of one long, articulate talon. "Y-yes. I mean." Rafadel faltered. This conversation was not going the way he had expected it to. Then, with Pascale, such things rarely did. "You intended to enter my office to tell me about the monsters that have proliferated in the dark, I presume." He sounded almost bored. "Or that, despite our efforts, our would-be army has utterly failed to get off the ground." "I...yes." Rafadel blinked. Pascale laid his hands calmly on the table and looked up, tilting his head at the wildclaw. The smile that crossed his delicate, pale features was not a pleasant one. "Have you lost sight, professor, of our ultimate goal in all of this?" The wildclaw shifted uneasily, stepping back into the hall. He did not like the look on Pascale's face. Not one bit. He was right to distrust. ~*~ "Run away with us," Bula pleaded. "You are a part of our family. You deserve to live at our side." "Do you really think," Fugue said, wearily, "that anyone in this world gets what they deserve?" The sky cracked, the clouds parting to reveal something beneath, some shimmering miasma, a doorway to the world of monsters. "Please," Bula said, knowing it would be for the last time. "My place is with Ozzy, whatever happens in the end." "Good luck to you, then." The guardian pressed her forehead to the snapper's, exhaling a long breath, and then pulled away. She would travel now with Pearl and Rivo and Soraka, find a place far away from here -- away from Pascale's madness and these twisted games of sacrifice and magical unravelling. ~*~ "I want you to know that your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed," Pascale said. Nightvale and Ashur stood, silent and shadowy, behind. But the skydancer paced, given over with a restless energy. "You have served your cause well." Ozzy sensed a 'but' was coming. The thing that shared his body writhed within him, power that could hardly be contained. He was the vessel. That is what he had been told on the day of his inauspicious crowning. He was the vessel. But the vessel for what? Pascale's sly gaze flitted from one to the other, thoughtful. "The monsters have overtaken the city," he said, calmly. "The quarter has been cordoned off. The school is effectively in ruins." "But you don't seem worried," Fugue blurted out. Pascale smiled. "There is no need for worry when you have faith." Before Fugue could ask "faith in what," the skydancer's long-fingered talon was upon her cheek, and she felt a curious tingling warmth, a ripple that started in her aura and crawled along her skin. "No!" Ozzy cried beside her, but the voice was already so far away. Pascale withdrew his hand, wiping his fingertips on his finely embroidered tunic. Fugue was gone. Where she had stood, there was just a swirling ball of energy, dark pulsing light that shimmered and collapsed in on itself, forming the shape of an egg. Ozzy closed his eyes, then, feeling the surge of power within his body, that thing which shared his existence and yet was not him. Before Pascale could lay his hands upon him, the imperial threw back his head and howled, an unearthly shattering sound that caused the beasts in their hiding places to look up and wonder at its cause. The thing within him twisted and tore and emerged, the spiritual essence of a body unravelling to its barest component parts. Where he had stood, too, was an egg. "At last," Pascale said, and he nearly trembled with the giddiness. "At last, it is done. Nightvale. See that these eggs are sheltered and cared for. Call me the moment either hatches." ~*~ No one heard much from inside the city walls for a long time. The area had gone dark, a place of shadows and the ever-creeping presence of monsters. Twisted creatures crawled within its walls and escaped from the shadow of its spire-like tower. Where once there had been a school, now there was nothing but a ruin. A ruin...and what few refugees insisted on clinging to it. What outsiders did not see or could not understand was the subtle glow of power radiating forth from the inside. What they could not comprehend is that, generation upon generation of magical concentration and ritual sacrifice had at last called upon deities far, far older than those who governed Sornieth. Fugue and Ozzy. Shadow and light. Two paths that diverged, crossed, melded, diverged again. Two sacrifices that left behind two perfect promises for the future. For these newly hatched creatures were no mere children, this time. Pascale had given birth to gods. Many dragons exalted or gone into hibernation. Huge lore upheaval. Chaos reigns! But something special is in store for these two, I just know it. I'm treating these two as the progenitors of a new lair, a fresh start for a new year of playing. As soon as I think up an appropriate set of challenge parameters, I'll make a new thread. And maybe at some point try to make sense of this insane sprawling nonsensical mess of lore! In the meantime, let's pour one out for Ozzy and Fugue. They did their very best. At least Pearl's little crew managed to escape unscathed by Pascale's craziness....

This finale brought to you by Fen's inability to actually remember many lore details

When I came back just in time for the new Ancient Breed to be released, I thought it was a sign. When I hatched my eggs and just so happened to get a male and female, shadow and light, with matching colors?!?! That's when I KNEW it was a sign.

Massive lair purge.

OHHHHH THIS IS SO EXCITING!!! i'm sad that fugue and ozzy are gone, but reincarnations?? babies!! i'm at the edge of my seat!!! hoi! i love spirals and silly masks. i share an ip with phasmology!
I LOVE how you ended this lore story and how you worked the new Banescale eggs into it! I'm planning on waiting for NotN to hatch mine, and now I think I will have Mwanga (Ozzy's daughter whom I adopted) raise one of the hatchlings as her own. :)

Welcome back! I hope real life has settled down for you at least a bit <3
I've missed this story :D look forward to where you go with them ancientssss. Farewell to Ozzy, my two babs will miss him... maybe this is my excuse to finally write Voiken's lore (and give him an outfit whoooops), since I did manage to finish geneing him a bit ago. Either way, I hope your fresh start helps :)
