Yeah, I think he's got potential. It's a shame Clay's the tert, since I feel like it has more fun options as a primary/secondary, but Overcast has red accents on a lot of genes and Maroon has some blues in there.
On a different note, I threw together a quick Gaoler scry with Clay Thylacine, and I actually like it quite a bit:
