The children grew into fine dragons, despite their unique eyes. Sombra taught them all they needed, and the day finally arrived where they would battle eachother in the Arena to determine who would take over.
Runjo, Etrage and Batura entered first, but only Etrage returned. Rosa and Citrus went next, Rosa announced her victory, but too soon. Etrage and Rosa were sent in together, but Rosa's victory screetching was not audiable this time. Etrage with his multitudes of eyes was the one to return.
As Sombra held out his claws to welcoem the next heir of the family, Etrage tore into him, sending Solaris running. the battle still spinning in Etrage's head. He returned to the Clan some time later, cleaned of his experiences and silent. With many more eyes came much more knowlage. It was very hard to hide things from him, and the overstimulation during battle had maddened him for a time, having to track two siblings - tails and wings, teeth and claws all at the same time, then being sent right back in agaisnt his sister, his mind has lost it's calm rational when he'd rejoined his parents.
The concequences were not what he had wanted in a calmer mind, but there was nothing to be done about it now. The Clan needed a Leader, and he had won the right in his family's traditions.
For a long time after, Etrage lead the clan quietly, watching everyone going about their familiar daily business. He noticed the Nocturnes often went out for much longer then they should, that others whipered when they thought he wasn't looking but he always had one of his many eyes open... even if it was just a small one at the end of his tail. He knew what was coming. They were making plans of some kind, and he could easily guess that after so many generations with what he could assume was his family's unwanted ways.
Maybe it was time to change the family's path...
Perhaps then it was fate that insisted, Etrage went out to wander and let his eyes rest, closing all the many eyes along the length of his body, leaving just the ones on his face open, when he noticed a female flying a bit lower then himself, her bright fiery colors easily spotted against the gloom of the Tangled Woods.
He saw where she landed, but didn't go to speak to her, returning to his clan instead. the next day he went on another flight, and saw the same female again, a Coatl, taking off from the same space. For several days he flew the area, watching her come and go, slowly finding himself more and more interested in her.
Eventually he worked up the courage to approach her and learned her name was Aretha. She had values very similar to Etrage's own family, it was familiarity that drew him in. She wanted to Rule, he already Ruled, surely they could rule together?
Aretha accepted his proposal, and returned with him to the clan to get to know her new subjects. Time would allow an Heir of their own to take over things one day.
