Two updates!
The first concerns the ruling line. It was a very long battle between Crest and Carmen's triplets in the Coli. Cory fell first, followed by Claire (they're forming their own legacy-like challenges, and let me tell you, it was a pain finding mates for them under 10kT). Arkady was one of three dragons in the entire AH who matched the color, gene, and breed requirements under 10kT. I'm pretty sure the three were siblings, too. He looks a little like cotton candy:

Legend speaks of one who painted in the dark. She had somehow found the only spot in the Shrieking Wilds where you could see the sky, and she had painted it. Her other paintings - of various rare flowers - are said to hang from the walls of the Gladekeeper's own lair. But her paintings of the starry night...legend whispers that they flit in and out of vaults, ethereal like the Ghost Flame Candles, her only valuable possession, she wore to illuminate her canvas at night.
Stormbound needed no candles, no lanterns. Years and years of painting storms left her used to drawing in the dark. Even if that weren't the case, her subjects tonight emitted their own glow.
Sleep eluded her, and she crept around her unpacked crates of supplies. Curiosity snored softly in their bed. Stormbound had already set up a canvas in the incubation room next door, intending to start the project tomorrow. But something called her here tonight, and she sat, canvas uncovered, before their nest of [b]three eggs[/b]. They pulsed softly, purple, and spun lazily, floating atop the nest.
She set up and painted. The zen of painting descended, a warm blanket of solitude. Just her, the paints, her children. The only sound was her breathing and bristles against canvas. Her thoughts drifted - with her eggs before her, she felt her connection to her progeny, their ancestors. Curiosity's forebears' curse had put her in a strange position. She knew her hatchlings would lead an unordinary existence, and by extension, she was now part of something more than just herself. She thought back to Pathfinder's sorrow. How Cannae's saffron eyes lit up when she wove tales about the past. [i]Her[/i] father-in-law, whom they had never met, but knew was a mechanic Curiosity's grandmother hired from the Shifting Expanse. And now her, a painter from the Viridian Labyrinth -
she dropped her brush
Forgotten, the brush lay on the floor as Stormbound scrambled out of the incubation room. She dashed into their bedroom and shook Curiosity awake.

Curiosity shot up. The quilt flopped to the floor. "You mean..."
"I mean," she said, vibrating, "my dream - this is it. The curse will be broken once..."
"...the flights have been united," he finished.
They looked at each other in awe.
Curiosity broke the silence. "That's a long time."
"Yeah, it is, isn't it?" Stormbound dived back into bed. "But I think it will happen!" She took the cleaver and held it between them. "And then this old thing will finally, finally, be put to rest."

Yes, dear reader, I've decided this will be a flight unification challenge! What that means is the mates will be from each flight until all of them have been completed! So far, we have had Lightning, Light, and Nature. Can't wait to see what lies ahead!

In the field alone, charcoal stick bound to the sketchpad balanced in her maw, she looks for murders of Storm Seekers ("Or the Stormcatcher himself if I'm lucky," she jokes). Satisfied with the activity of this congregation, she sits on the hill and waits. The first flash of lightning, her sketchbook flips open, and she fills it with shapes and colors - impressions of the storm she had been waiting for. There they remain until storm-chasing season ends and she returns home.
Navigating between piles of half-ground shells, plants, scales, and petals that litter the floor, Stormbound passes her easel. Usually, she stands before it, transforming daubs of blue, black, white, browns into dark skies, silhouettes of clouds and mountains lit up by streaks of light. Today, she mutters, "Work in progress" and dismisses the covered canvas with a flick of her wrist.
"Usually when I do paintings, I sell 'em." Unapologetic, she continues. "Supplies don't come cheap, after all. Most buyers are from Lightning, but you'd be surprised. I get folk from all around - in fact, some Water dragons are fans, especially when I get the chance to do storms over the water. I trade the painting for waterproof canvas, usually." Her neutral expression melts into admiration. "Nothing quite like water magic."
She continues to the back of the studio and grabs the curtains. They had been invisible, stilled by their weight, the color matching the walls'. "But I never had the courage to show these in public - too near and dear to the heart, you know?" She pulls it back. Behind lie eleven small paintings in three rows of four, three, and four again. Each scene is nearly identical - but the color of the lightning differs: brown, orange, seafoam, blue, purple, white, cyan, yellow, green, red, and pink.
"Yes, the color choices are very political, I know." The curtain falls back into place. "But it's my dream, you know? To see dragonkind truly united. No matter our Flight, color, breed, we're still all dragons on the inside. In the face of a storm, we all can't help but stand and stare in awe."
