If this is what I'm thinking of, my only concern is how you would propose the "stud" be considered for the cases of a user uses your "stud" and then never incubates the nest again. Your dragon would be stuck on a nest at the mercy of another player.

and @smudgedink
in some other pet sim games you can list your [whatever pet] as 1/2 of a pair for a fee on what's basically an AH. so someone who is looking to complete a breeding project is able to use your [whatever pet] because they have the correct coloration, markings, w/e for their goal. they pay the fee and offspring are generated for the person who paid the fee as though both [whatever pet]s were on their account. but the 'stud' never leaves the account of the user who listed it for studding.
basically imagine if someone asked you if they could borrow your dragon because they're hunting a rare XYZ color combo and you have the only unrelated, unexalted potential mate that is within 3 colors of their target. with a stud system they could get hatchlings and further their project without you having to risk sending your dragon to someone else.
the problem is what Lykos said. w/ a lot of games that use the system, either offspring are generated instantaneously (so neither parent pet is locked out of any features) or ONLY the buyer's parent has a gestation period that limits what features can be used. FR works a little differently; both parents go on the nest and stay on the nest until the eggs are hatched.
so in this case the convenience of not having to risk surrendering ownership of your dragon to another user temporarily is offset by the fact that your dragon could end up stuck on a nest indefinitely if the other person stops logging in. they would need to code in some way for a nest to only have one dragon on it for this to work within the nesting system as it's currently designed.

@cantrip
Ohhhh… thanks for the explanation! I guess I’ll say no support since there are issues with it.

i mean, tbh it's still an improvement over the current system even with the whole 'indefinite nesting' risk.
because right now that problem still happens, it just happens while your whole dragon is literally on someone else's account.
somebody did that to me once. i never got my dragon back. and it's why i stopped lending.

That’s a fair point, maybe the borrowed dragon could leave the nest after it finishes cd if the holder never hatches it? I mean I don’t know where the eggs would vanish off to, but maybe it could work?
If they did this, there's no way they'd allow a dragon to be stuck on a nest if the incubating player stopped logging in. I really doubt we'd have to worry about that.
Potential fixes I can see would be to allow the stud owner to also incubate the best, and/or allow them to take their dragon back after a certain number of days.
I really hope we get something like this with the nesting grounds revamp. There are a handful of projects I don't bother with because I'm almost entirely a G1 lair. I can't risk losing dragons I've put so much time (or in some cases, real money) into if someone stops playing, or gods forbid, just keeps the dragon.
