I always start my prep for Art Fight well enough in advance that I can take my time on my work, aka may 1st lol

This year I have 13 characters (unless more crop up between now and then), and I want to update everyone's icons. So that's 13 drawings right off the bat. I also need to make references for two of them which are new... and maybe some new refs for some less well loved ones too lol

I know in my friend group and streaming community people often put it off until the last minute, so we've developed a habit of getting people hyped up in advance so everyone has plenty of time to work

I have a lot of new oc's...but they're humanoids...and i can't draw humanoids ;-; I want to upload them, but i also want to do them justice and upload a good drawing of them. Conundrum indeed. I am chill with my animals though, lol. I do want to make icon pictures instead of the random snapshots Art Fight gives. Here's my favorite boy, Nigiri! @SushiDragon101 Ah that's so cute! And fitting lol. The colors are done very well. Valid! What is it about humans/humanoids that gives you trouble? Maybe I can help? I managed to finish the ref for one of my new characters last night, it took so much doing... For me, I feel its the head/mainly face. I make everything faceless, lol. But I havn't really drawn humans or focused on them. I can do a little bit of body proportions, although they're squishy looking. [center][img]https://i.imgur.com/GMavLCI.jpeg[/img][/center] I feel like i just need to study more humanoids and find a particular style to draw in. Because my art is mostle sketchy. And shoot, I don't know what you're talking about, you seem to be doing just fine, especially for someone who doesn't focus on humans. If you are worried, though, I personally like to keep a 3d model of a basic face to use as reference.

Being able to turn it around and look at it from different angles is nice, and keeping it a simple model helps in breaking things down to their basic shapes.

I've spent the past 4 months making new and updating old characters for Artfight, so far 8 humanoids have new refs and 5 new critters have been made. I'm trying to add more diversity to my 31 characters since I know my humanoids won't be drawn much (I don't blame people tbh, after wasting so much time on the ref sheets I don't want to draw them for a while XD) Just gotta sort out some thumbnails and update basic information for the important ones Here's a couple of the new critters: [url=https://artfight.net/character/4006471.utrice][img]https://i.imgur.com/cOgxcgX.png[/img][/url][url=https://artfight.net/character/4032875.laffy][img]https://i.imgur.com/AcH40xM.png[/img][/url]

I have the Very Bad Habit of putting stuff up in the last minute (or sometimes not updating anything at all) so sometimes i tend to speedrun art fight and just draw whatever i find fun ngl some of my ocs don't even have a clean ref because I got that adhd juice going on and because of that I have 500+ hours in stardew valley and exacts ZERO hours on my own personal projects ;v; I feel like this year I'm gonna focus on gifting people rather than organizing my own stuff, it's honestly easier. but I'm lowkey an introverted and talking to people is scary (even if its to gift art, rip) I wanted to check my account but nothing is loading rn, but I'm @ [url=https://artfight.net/~gif]Gif [/url]on there :) ((i forgor but atm i'm working in a dungeon meshi oc, she's a half-foot named Ringo)) [img]https://i.imgur.com/f8NWSTm.png[/img]

@Shunky That's a lot of characters all at once! I'm sure people appreciate the options! I like to rotate my own in and out each year so hopefully everyone gets an equal amount of love just because I feel bad for one if they get left out haha

People don't draw humanoids as much? Makes me feel better about almost exclusively drawing humanoids then I guess lol-- though I DO like your rainbow critter...

@Opossun honestly if half that isn't a mood... The ADD is why I start so early lol and it's been minecraft for me lately :'D

@XXVeil LOVE the detail work on these guys! They're all very cool designs! But I do see your worry about complexity, lol. I try to keep multiple skill levels in mind when deciding which characters to have up for the year as well c:

I'm terrible at reference sheets though lol, I figure if people can see the character decent enough in the art I have, that'll do. Let them take creative liberties, we're here for fun after all haha :'D
