You'll build up stamina for longer distances over a few weeks of regular running! When I started running, 5 minutes would be enough to make me feel awful and broken, these days I do half an hour no problem. Music definitely helps, I find listening to something with meaningless lyrics and a repetitive beat is really helpful.

im gonna have to learn to jog not heel first cause i know i do that now :s dont want shin splints..
