TOPIC | Size Difference in Dragons

I was working on some details in my head, as I was considering putting together a writing entry, when I wondered just how big my first dragon was, in comparison to the mate who showed up when I started. So, I went to their stats to find out. Belianth (a Guardian female, the dragon I created) is 2.28M long, has a wingspan of 1.79M, and weighs 662.45KG. Daneel (a Fae male, the mate who joined my clan after) is 0.26M long, has a wingspan of 0.2M, and weighs 0.44KG. Daneel has only 11.4% the wingspan of Belianth, only 11.17% of her size, and weighs 0.07% of what she does. So, for the sake of my poor scholarly mind, I must ask: what is the size difference in your dragons? (Average, most common, greatest: any will do.)

So, for the sake of my poor scholarly mind, I must ask: what is the size difference in your dragons? (Average, most common, greatest: any will do.)

My smallest dragon is 0.2m long and my longest is 7.95m long.

On a side note, I think that wingspans are a little strange for imperials. For instance, my male imperial is 6.07m long and has a wingspan of 4.08m. My female is 4.75m long and has a wingspan of 3.39m. From looking at the pictures, this seems a little strange. The wingspan doesn't really look like it should be that much shorter than the body length. Then again, I have difficulty eyeballing things and judging lengths from it. Am I incorrect in this assumption?

@Fulgora Dragons don't finish growing until fifteen days have passed, even if they have their adult image. That is most likely the cause.

[It may actually be ten days, I can no longer find the thread where this was explained. That's still what's going on, though.]

ETA: Suppose I should actually fulfill the purpose of the thread, eh? Among my adult dragons their dimensions are 4.91M/3.26M/236.8KG [Lire, Mirror]; 11.13M/9M/4801.34KG [Deuce, Guardian]; and 4.2M/4.31M/433.63KG [Jillian, Mirror].

Actually I believe they continue to grow for the lenght fo the dragon's breeding cooldown. MOst fae end up having a wingspan of a meter or so. :-)

The length/wingspan/weight are all within a certain threshhold. If you get a dragon that's at the top of its length threshhold and bottom of its wingspan threshhold, some of the lengths get a bit funny. Figure that some dragons are more flight-challenged then others. You could have really heavy dragons for their size, really thin dragons for their size, dragons that are short and stumpy, or dragons with mega wings. The randomization is part of the fun. (Or at least I like to think so!)

@Indigo
Ah, so the ratios don't remain the same from when they reach adulthood and when they are fully grown?

I vaguely remember that thread. I recall it being said that full growth was reached between fifteen and thirty days of age.

Edit: Oh, so that explains it.

Ah, good, now I have more accurate information to distribute. I mean, uh. [shifty eyes]

I've done a bit of poking around the dragon population for each breed and come up with a rough (emphasis on ROUGH) chart for how they compare to each other. [img][/img] If the rough approx average for a guardian were 6m and the same for a fae were 0.6m, then a fae is 10% the size of a guardian, and a mirror at 2-3 is a little under half/ 50%. Obviously the character images aren't great to be going off for this because they're all coiled up in different poses so I've had to eyeball it a bit... but that would be my guess on how the sizes compare. (for a better sized image click here) and also this is their image sizes in a more condensed manner: In this diagram though ridgebacks are omitted because my average for them came up at about the same as that of guardians, and same for pearls coming up about the same as mirrors, and snappers and tundras being equivalent, so they're out to make the diagram easier to understand. A little fun fact I spotted by the way! admin thrage's ridgeback is unique in that it's an absolutely ridiculous twenty two feet long! But in that respect it is unique and they are if I'm not mistaken responsible for coding, so they can make their dragon as immense as they damn well please I'd imagine pff. I wouldn't consider this completely accurate but I hope this is useful/helpful!

@talysia - oh gosh thank you, and you're totally welcome! if nothing else I figured diagrams like that might come in handy for drawing reference? also just for the fun of it here's our two fae/guardian sizes overlapped! [img][/img] I guess you could say that a fae to a guardian is probably something like the size of a bird compared to a human?
