@Misplaced
They are shaped like really poorly bred English Bulldogs and American Bullies. Unfortunately, dogs shaped like this actually exist:

There are, sadly, many more examples. :(

I adore Snappers, easily my favorite breed after Guardians. In fact, I'm hotly anticipating this guy's first nest :D

His name is Kapro, and the reason why is in his bio :D
I.... need more Snappers. Never enough.
I was really "meh" about snappers for a long time, but then Smoke came out and they are by far the best looking dragons with it. now I have a legitimate smoke snapper problem

Ooooh my god, is that what the akc and others want now for those breeds? Can't imagine them not having a whole slew of health problems. That makes me really sad and angry. :/
But my point still stands, it's not about realism per say(though FR does incorporate some of those ideas) but the design could be more congruent. Current design works for the bull dog in the Sylvester/Tweety cartoons, but not FR(wrists are still a big design flaw, what is this, warcraft?) Those dogs are uncomfortable to look at and so are the snappers.(for me)
And now, morally, I don't like the idea of normalizing the continued unfortunate deformation of dogs.
Edit: the feet turned towards eachother is still very turtle like but I agree it's still very similar to the bull dogs you showed.

No traveling dragons please!
@Misplaced
I was just trying to show that as far as "realism" goes, or even congruency, there are precedents for animals the shape of the Snappers.
All the dogs pictured are American Bullies, which were bred down from the American Pit Bull Terrier mixed with other breeds. No legitimate registry technically recognizes them, although they have their own registry, ABKC. The UKC does recognize American Bullies, but has specific language in the standard to disqualify dogs like the ones above. They look for dogs like this:

The deformed ones I posted above are only encouraged in the ABKC and considered "exotics." It's disgusting. :(

honestly, while Snappers aren't my absolute favorite breed ever, I think they're kinda cute...like giant tortoises...except they don't have shells, natch
I used to dislike Snappers, until...

They are actually my favourite dragons to dress up because I think they look great in everything. I have enjoyed looking at all the snappers featured in this thread :)
