Ah, so many anime. That's the problem with the seasonal schedule, a show will be at peak popularity for about 3 months, and if it doesn't get another season, well, that's that. It's a shame, so many of my favourite shows (Kekkai Sensen, Bravern, Dead Dead Demons, Overtake!, Dead Mount Death Play, etc.) aren't popular to begin with, and with seasonal anime getting more and more... streamlined, I guess, if you weren't there when it was airing, then you miss out on a big part of the community. It just... sucks.

Ironically enough, my oldest (in terms of age) fandom, Gundam, still has a large community regarding the original 1979 anime. Though to be fair, that's because the main timeline has the most support from Bandai, and is popular to begin with.

i get into most of my favorite things long after their peak popularity! i wonder how much that has to do with people bugging me to watch them when they're popular which makes me not want to do it LOL.

Gravity Falls, I watched it like a decade or so after the pilot aired and loved it, but knew I was super late to the party... and then the Book Of Bill was announced, so I got to live through that fandom's renaissance (now with extra Grunkle Ford content!)

Anyone in here, I feel you, about a lot of things, but I'll also advise you to never lose hope.

What I mean with that: Last year, early or mid autumn, I discovered and fell in love with a little RPGmaker game called OFF. It was originally made in 2008, and didn't even have an official English version. Still had a bit of a fanbase going on, but slow-moving.
Well, a short time after my discovery, a remake was announced, with a proper Steam release, an official English version, and more content too.
No one expected that to happen after such a long time, but it happened.

And maybe it'll happen to a thing you love, too.

exactly how i feel with steven universe, when it was still updating and popular i wanted to watch it so bad because all the clips i had seen made me SURE i would love it. and i DO. but i am just now being able to fully sit down with this show, i know everyone generally has a fondness of SU but i wish i could have been with it as it came out, that would have been awesome.

my birth stone is garnet and i have a garnet ring. i wonder who my favorite gem is.

hello, i'm riven ^^ // he/they // feel free to ping
@dehydrator I'll say that one really big advantage to watching Steven Universe now is that its all there and you don't have to wait for new episodes. I was watching the show as it came out and ended up dropping it because the hiatuses were way too long and I gradually lost interest. It was also frustrating that they'd pretty much release batches of episodes all at once and sometimes none of them would be super relevant to the plot. I have nothing against filler tbh but when you go a whole year without any new episodes, then are finally given some all at once and they're all filler, it gets pretty frustrating. I do hope to finish it at some point but dang, the original airing schedule did not do the show any justice lol.

I get how you feel though, I was the same about Gravity Falls and only recently saw season 1 when it was free on Youtube but I feel sad I missed out on being in the fandom back when it was airing. But I guess in the end its better to watch it one day than never at all.

I only ever get obsessed with media that's at least 10 years old for some reason.

UNDERTALE. i was 10 9 years late to the party since I got the game last year (exactly a year ago today actually lol). I wish I could talk about it more to others. The fandom is definitely still alive but not as active as it was in 2016 - 2018 or so I believe. I would love to go back to the time when the real famous animations/fan works were really popular and talked about a lottt. I know the old fandom was pretty... strange at times but i'd love to see my hyper fixation at its most popular </3.

@BeeFuzz No worries!

I was referring to The Chronicles of Prydain series by Lloyd Alexander! (The first book was published 1964). It's not the most obscure thing ever, so there are other people that like it.. but not enough.... as far as i'm aware, nobody actively draws or writes anything for it. It's a really great series though!! I recommend it if you like medieval coming of age stories where the main character is a cringefail loser boy TRYING HIS ABSOLUTE BEST not to get himself or his companions killed.

The Black Cauldron Disney movie was a VERY rough adaptation of the second book!
They tried to adapt all 5 books, which didn't work for obvious reasons so the end product was pretty much unrecognisable lmao
