yesss I love ancients! I’m very minimalist with apparel already so not having it as an option isn’t a drawback at all for me - and you can pry my sandsurges and abbys out of my cold dead hands

As an old player ancients are just way better because of line breaking terts, though I remember not being too crazy about the first one. (I only just recently used one of my free gaoler breed change scrolls that are hoard bound cuz they finally added more genes for them)
I do like that out of the box thinking when it comes to ancients, as you said, too. Lately the only dragons I dress are fandragons, and I only make new moderns if I really really like the scry cuz some genes look different on them (tundra lionfish for example)
If they made apparel that looked like line breaking terts more often I'd maybe change my mind, but it's not often they do that. It's kinda stuff I find really boring.

I’m very much so a modern enjoyer, primarily for the easy breeding and dress-up time, but I’m thinking of… changing things up in my lair for reasons stated by others in this thread. Moderns are pretty, versatile, and I like them, but they are EXPENSIVE. Modern genes feel nearly unattainable to me and my incredibly low currency gain. I’m too scatterbrained and lazy to save up that much currency. Ancient genes, though? Sounds pretty reasonable. There’s also the issue with outfits. I love dressing my guys up a lot, but it requires inspiration and resources I’d rather save for a smaller selection of dergs. I’ve been seeing a lot of change in my FR opinions lately; I no longer hate aether F… although I still think M is better, and I’m finally getting the appeal of coatls and WCs. I’m thinking a shift from a more modern-lean to an ancient-lean might be in store for me.
My only big hang up is the breeding and gene limitations. That still stinks imo

I've definitely been leaning more towards ancients but obelisks and fathoms are still up there for me. Especially since Fathoms are still relatively new (for moderns). I do still love giving my dragons apparel. But skins have taken over my lair so now I can work with those on ancients as apparel replacement instead.
Also, ancients have so many more fun terts to work with. If moderns got more tert love, I'd probably focus on them more often.

I've realized that I tend to scry dragons as ancients more often than not, I think due to having better tert options (i.e. more accent colors to mix with the primary and secondary). The fact that their genes cost less than modern genes is also a plus.

i'm in the exact same boat, g1 ancients! i seem to have found myself with a veilspun/aberration clan with a side hobby for g2 imps. i love an edgy guy what can i say!
i'm also so excited to get colorways that i feel will suit having more dusthides in my clan because they are soooo cute

[center][size=4]Veilspuns are probably my favorite breed.
It breaks my heart that their breed change scroll is so expensive since they're my go-to when skrying G1s.
