Everyone would be greeted with a fleeing Gazer, surrounded by a weird glow and rather foul-smelling cloud of strange yellowish fumes, his screams pure incomprehensible jibberish, though not exactly polite-sounding. Not long after, Crispmorning's head would peek out from the shack. [i]"Oh, come on, told you it wouldn't kill you, didn't I? Now get back here! We need to repeat it! I forgot to take notes!"[/i] Well, at least this granted the dragons some extra time to check their new territories and neutralize potential threats. What they were not expecting was to find a mercenary wandering around! After a rather nasty battle where the Banescaqle proved her worth and not exactly few words, she decided to join them...a potential new asset or a wolf in sheep's clothing? While they were taken off-guard, the choice to sleep all together allowed them to react in time to fend them off and eventually chase them away with only a couple injuries and no deaths. They were tired, confused, angry and even some a bit bloody after the confrontation. In no shape to chase after their newfound enemies...but itching to. That's when Emiri rushed into a hut and then out, barely able to hold the keg of booze on his own, and suggested to throw a victory party for their "First Big Win". While most of the dragons hesitated at first, Harbrom agreed to it, knowing that it would be better to boost their morale and give them time to heal before daring to consider revenge. The party was exactly what the clan needed, and it extended well into the next night. Even some of those previously wounded seemed to have miraculously healed...or was it the alcohol? It was their constant partying that might have lowered their guards, allowing Crispmorning in particular to stumble a bit too far in her drunken state right before dawn...it was in good fortune of the rest of the dragons that she decided to be so loud upon feeling claws on her body and throat, before being cut off by a gurgled sound beforre hitting the ground with a muffled thud. Revitalized, emboldened by alcohol, enraged by having one of their own ambushed like that, and unsure if they had lost a dear friend, the group of dragons fought their returning enemies with the power of an army, the battle ending almost as soon as it started... Gazer would rush the limp body of Crispmorning to his small medical hut, tears threatening to fall from his eyes as he cursed loud and often enough to make a sailor blush...the rest of the dragons gathered outside the hut...waiting with held breath...before a sudden burst of what seemed to be some kind of glowy bright green smoke made it out of the tent, causing Gazer to rush out coughing, covered in the substance...with a chuckling Crispmorning behind him, the pouch she was carrying gone and replaced by scraps...the source of the smoke explossion... For once, none cared for the mess, not even Gazer, surprisingly enough. Everyone was just glad that somehow this incident had somehow worked on their favor...that damn engineer and her volatile experiments... When they found out about the rival Criminal Kingdom raising not too far away, Scion had decided that the best way to deal with the competition was to destroy it before they could grow to become a real threat...but they proved to be way stronger than expected, way more capable. She expected the retaliation, but was not expecting it to be so prompt nor brutal. They gave her Kingdom no quarter, just like they had given theirs...but they seemed unwilling to harm them for some reason. Even Riptide, the little hatchling, had been left alone when they could've taken her. No, they left as suddenly as they came, with some loot on their claws. None woulf know the real price to pay until the chaos calmed down enough to hear little Riptide's cries... They were active...a bit too active, and that would eventually become their downfall, as they would come to find out as Poisonblast limped in, carrying a barely conscious Spookie, followed by Gweneira, who brought grim news. The clan as a whole moved as fast as possible, only now realizing that in their hyperfixation against the other Criminal Kingdom, they had underestimated and ignored their original enemy. Alas, they wouldn't be fast enough as several dragons from the lairs they had ransacked fell upon them all with fury. The situation became a double mission, both an evacuation and a salvage, trying to leave as they grabbed all they could. They had an emergency gathering point, prepared in case anything like this was ever to happen, but they could've never expected this to get out of control so soon. It was as if the Plaguebringer was punishing them for their recklessness... Magdala stayed behind, facing the armed enemy on his own to give those still trying to flee as much time as possible. He fought like a dragon many times his size, felling a couple of dragons himself, but eventually, even he would get overwhelmed by the sheer numbers... Spookie, wounded as she was, knew better than to try and run, and instead she ran into the lair...and forced the escape tunnels to collapse once everyone was far enough. Her teeth clenched as a small prayer came into her mind, hoping this would prevent them from being tracked down. Overnight, like an invisible enemy, a terrible plague spread across their new lair. None was sure if they had accidentally punctured a virulent pustule that could be seen all over the landscape, released one of the many diseases lost deep underground, or anything of the sort as they built a new lair for themselves...but the result was all the same. The disease was especially violent against poor Gweneira, whose wounds became infected, surrounded by oozing, foul-smelling pustules, and the disease became noticeable under her skin where her full fell in clumps...death was nothing short of mercy, to find rest before it progressed any further. Arthur and little Riptide, who, due to their wounds and age respectively, couldn't tolerate the infection's spread, couldn't say the same. The clan even started to discuss the option of cutting their suffering short when pus and rotten blood started oozing from every orifice in their bodies. However, they were stopped by a newcomer, an Obelisk who insisted on letting them undergo the Plaguebringer's trial. Many wanted to kick her out for such a suggestion, but to the surprise of many Scion not only agreed but made her lead in a group meant to set off and fetch resources to aid the two Auraboas in keeping their strength during their struggles as her official welcome to the Kingdom. Much to the relief of many, in the upcoming weeks, both Auraboas seemed to have succeeded in this evercalled Trial as the disease, as mysteriously as it had arrived, slowly left their bodies, allowing them to see a new dawn, tempered by Blight. Sadly or luckily enough, depending on the perspective, Galtan wasn't as powerful nor experienced as he thought himself to be, as sooner than later he found himself pinned to the ground in the middle of the makeshift lair, with a disappointed Obelisk narrowing his eyes at him. Against advice given to him, he refused to kill the Fae for treason and instead decided to take him prisoner, trying to launch an investigation to figure out the reasoning behind his betrayal...and only then take action. Not long after the choice was made, Samekh came into his office, requesting a change of role, clearly irritated enough by the critter hanging to her horn and looking like she was about to snap it in half. Yaazaniah was quick to agree, mostly to prevent unnecessary familiar deaths, and after hours of discussion, decided to hand over the job and responsibilities of Knight to the fiery Guardian. He was taking a walk across the plagued wastelands, hoping to put his thoughts in order...when the smell hit him...fear, poison, rot...blood. With great caution, he followed the scent, wanting to investigate, but wouldn't find much at first, just the deceased unrecognizable remains of a dragon whose body was already being picked clean by scavengers, whatever finished its life long gone. He was about to just leave and make a mental note of this when a soft rusting was heard near him, under a dead bramble bush... His claws moved the thorny vines aside with caution and care, only to find four small hatchlings staring at him with wide eyes, as if trying to decide if they should fear or attack him. His eyes narrowed. He wasn't sure of the exact story behind the hatchlings, but he knew their future if he just left them here, without who he guessed once was their caretaker...or kidnapper. With a soft sigh, he would gently scoop the hatchlings, offering them some soft words of comfort and not minding the small panic bites on his fingers. They approached the noise, and they would be surprised when finding two adult dragons bickering with each other, with no less than 4 hatchlings running between their legs. The two Gems decided to approach peacefully and had a lengthy conversation with the dragons, runaways if their story was to be believed. The choice was silently made right there on the spot. Two dragons left on patrol, but eight returned to the Lair. Knowing they would need to get enough food to feed the little ones, a group was quickly put together and sent out hunting, with both newcomer dragons going along to make sure they would get the right kinds of food. While all of this happened, in the farthest corner of the lair, Samekh had pinned Galtan to the ground after intercepting him on an attempt to escape. The verbal discussion was rather one-sided and short... Their Leader was soft-hearted enough to allow the treacherous Fae to live despite what he had done...but Samekh was not, and now she had an excuse to rid the Kingdom of this threat for once and for all... After the hunting and gathering party had returned, he insisted on joining a patrol, with the excuse of needing more medical supplies, despite constant discouragement from everyone else. Their words fell on deaf ears, they knew that when he obsessed on something like this, there was no talking him out of it. It wouldn't take long before Aelythrakka and Natch returned carrying a badly scorched Gaze, the Beastclan's magic becoming too much for the weakened Auraboa to handle. They gathered around him...his heart wasn't beating... Crispmorning would be the one to jump into action, crafting some kind of odd electrical device that sent a strong bolt of electricity through Gaze's body, causing him to convulse lightly before taking in a long deep breath as his eyes opened once more... Savion would personally try to treat Gareth, despite his little knowledge of medicine beyond the minimum needed for his arts. However, the illness not only wouldn't wane, but it started to spread, specifically to Zuras, whose curiosity had driven him to try an see what was going on and then try to help...such choice would come at a high cost, as the little body of the hatchling would prove too weak to combat the illness. After that incident, quarantine was ordered. The illness would eventually take the leader of the clan.
