TOPIC | [Subspecies] Paleblood Hunters
@mnkn10 @yuubi @luciferr @loucat @adaejha

Hey there! You have been pinged because you were on the old interest list for the Paleblood Hunter subspecies (old thread here; all info has been removed however).

I know it's long, long overdue, but I promise it was worth the wait! This subspecies has finally been reworked to be entirely independent of the subspecies it was originally a variation on. With Essay's help, there is completely new lore that still fits within the Bloodborne theming without being inherently tied to any other subspecies.

If you still wish to be pinged for general updates on this subspecies, I recommend subscribing to this pinglist! The legacy pinglist you were all tagged from will not be used going forward, so you don't need to take any further actions to avoid future pings.

@pinglist-42582 Hello everyone! I've been chewing on Palebloods like a dog with a toy almost constantly since getting the thread up and running, and I have some great news! With @.Luciferr's help and permission, the Palebloods have their first two crossover variants now! The Carrionix are one of my favorite subspecies and I'm so very happy that they're our first crossover! These have been added to the Breed Standards post, but I'm also putting their bios down here for your convenience. ----------------- Carrionix Palebloods Primary: Platinum - Coal | Any Paleblood primary Secondary: Berry - Cottoncandy | All shared secondaries (Striation, Current, Saturn, Hypnotic, Myrid, Paisley, Spirit, Pack, Diamondback, Spire, Woven, Coil, Silkspot) Tertiary: Berry - Cottoncandy | Any Paleblood tertiary On occasion symbionts and their bonded may seek the Paleblood. Carrionix are used to otherworldly bonds, as their symbionts do not originate on Sornieth - why should they fear the mind-splittingly incomprehensible reality beyond the Portal's boundaries? Why should they, who already transform and grow more powerful as time carries on, balk at the possibility of growing further mutations? Longtime Carrionix already sport multiple eyes and limbs; what does it matter if the Paleblood grants them even more? Whether they enter the ranks of the Hunters as newly bonded or as ancient Primordius, Carrionix Palebloods have a unique advantage over other new Palebloods and excel at hunting very early on. Their enhanced strength is only furthered by their Paleblood infection and helps even those inexperienced in combat to survive what would be killing blows to any other initiate. Their symbiotic partnership also is not interrupted by the Paleblood, and seems to grant a measure of resistance to its more unfortunate effects; similar to Paleblood Resilients, it is almost unheard of for a Carrionix Paleblood to become blood-drunk. They also find themselves less likely to be subjugated by their eldritch patrons and so never lose sight of their own goals and desires, able to balance their wants with those of other Hunters and their patrons Stygianix Palebloods Primary: Oilslick - Shadow | Any Paleblood primary + Pharoah Secondary: Black | All shared Secondaries (Daub, Stripes, Safari, Saturn, Sarcophagus, Myrid, Paisley, Pack, Diamondback, Spire) Tertiary: Black | Any Paleblood tertiary Additional notes/requirements:

Due to the Paleblood weakening their bond with their symbiont and often worsening their sense of self and sanity, Stygianix Palebloods can bear the same Pharoah/Sarcophagus genes as Blood-drunk Hunters, even if they themselves have not yet fallen that far. Though the Hunters are known to despise the Shade and prevent its agents from setting forth on the other side, it is not unknown for Stygianix to become Palebloods. Stygianix who come seeking more power may find it - having already stolen their symbionts, why shouldn't they try their hand at claiming the power of the Other as well? Those who were created against their will may enter a pact with something almost impossible to describe in a desperate bid to stabilize their fractured bond and minds. Unfortunately for them, the Paleblood is not the cure they hope it to be, and these poor creatures almost always find their condition worsened rather than improved. Despite their hatred of the Shade, the Hunters are not without pity or sympathy, and Resilients especially understand the desperation to be stabilized that can lead one to give themselves to the Portal. Should a Stygianix make contact with one of the entities beyond the Portal and enter under its patronage, they will be paired or grouped with at least one highly experienced Hunter, often an older Carrionix. These partnerships are vital to the wellbeing of both the Stygianix Palebloods and the Hunters as a whole; the mentoring Hunter must not only be able to show their pupil the ropes, but they must be able to befriend them, to be the shelter in the storm for both dragon and symbiont. These dragons are often an anchor point for their stygian companion and - when necessary - the wall that stands between them and other dragons when they cannot. More than that, they must have the fortitude required to execute their own friend should the Stygianix Paleblood succumb to the blood and lose their ability to tell their allies from their prey. Umbral Stygianix, who have endured the suffering caused by combining Shade and Symbiont and emerged on the other side of insanity with a solid and secure bond, are more likely than others to resist the damaging effects the Paleblood seems to inflict upon Stygianix. These Umbral Palebloods are among the strongest members of Hunter society and are the first to be called upon when the greatest and most powerful monsters spew forth from the Portal, or an old and powerful Hunter falls into blood-drunkenness. Tragically, this strength also makes them the ideal partners for newly created Stygianix Palebloods, as their enhanced power and years of experience give them the edge if their proteges should go past the point of no return.
@Paleblood Hunters: General/All Updates

Hello everyone!

Carrionix Palebloods

Primary: Platinum - Coal | Any Paleblood primary
Secondary: Berry - Cottoncandy | All shared secondaries (Striation, Current, Saturn, Hypnotic, Myrid, Paisley, Spirit, Pack, Diamondback, Spire, Woven, Coil, Silkspot)
Tertiary: Berry - Cottoncandy | Any Paleblood tertiary

On occasion symbionts and their bonded may seek the Paleblood.

Stygianix Palebloods

Primary: Oilslick - Shadow | Any Paleblood primary + Pharoah
Secondary: Black | All shared Secondaries (Daub, Stripes, Safari, Saturn, Sarcophagus, Myrid, Paisley, Pack, Diamondback, Spire)
Tertiary: Black | Any Paleblood tertiary

Additional notes/requirements:
 • Due to the Paleblood weakening their bond with their symbiont and often worsening their sense of self and sanity, Stygianix Palebloods can bear the same Pharoah/Sarcophagus genes as Blood-drunk Hunters, even if they themselves have not yet fallen that far.
 • Level 25 Stygianix Palebloods (Umbral Palebloods) can have the same secondaries that regular Umbral Stygianix can (Noxtide, Eel, Jester, Malachite or Lode) but the Paleblood costs them the bright red coloration that was a sign of their mastery over their bond, bleaching it white.

Carrionix are not the only ones bonded to symbionts who may walk through the Portal. I'm so pleased to see this back up! My lore may need a bit of tweaking now, but I love the adjustments! Time to go read everything and decide what to do with my two.

And a Carrionix crossover, yes! I need five yesterday.

@Adaejha I'm super excited for them to be back up tbh! I know it took a long time and I'm so so sorry for that - it's been hard to find motivation for things the last couple years. Also super sorry for any inconvenience the updated lore causes because of any tweaks you need to make :')

And I know right?? I also need a ton of the Carrionix variants asap! I do have a really pretty pair in the works for those though~
