"That's true," Kyle agreed. "How did you pick your wife?"

"Like carrying you." Livius picked Aaron up to try to cheer him up.

"Because more people die. It'd be depressing if we didn't have anything fun to look forward to," Micheal told him.

"Well, I saw her at a feast and I asked her father if I could marry her," Evander shrugged. "He suggested we court first so that’s what we did."

Aaron giggled. "And piggybacks!"

"Then why don’t you do it at the end of winter?" Liam asked.

"Was she the prettiest lady there?" Kyle asked. He couldn't imagine asking to marry someone he just met.

"Yep. I'm the best at those," Livius agreed.

"So people aren't sad all winter," Micheal reasoned. "Besides, we celebrate the beginning of spring. The end of winter would put the festivals too close."

"I’m not sure. I didn’t really pay attention to any others. She wore my favourite colour and her dance card was reserved for me," Evander said happily.

Aaron nodded. "And hunting sweets."

"We don’t celebrate anything," Liam said.

Kyle thought that was a silly reason to pick someone to marry, but saying as much would be rude. Instead he said, "It must have been fate."

"Yes, we're both good at that one," Livius said.

"That sounds depressing," Micheal said bluntly. "We should teach the northeners about festivals," he decided. "Micheal, they have festivals in the North." Jet sounded almost as annoyed with Micheal as he was with Liam.

Evander smiled and nodded. "We ended up having a lot in common."

"Can we do it now?" Aaron said.

"We do not," Liam said matter of factly. "Every day is the same."

"That's good. You won't bore each other then," Kyle said.

"Okay," Livius agreed. He headed to the kitchens.

"You do so. I've been up north," Jet said.
