Hello! Posting one kid tonight hatched for the October full moon. Clarion is from a special collab nest with Kaveh and comes with a short vignette style lore starter. He is a G2 via Blackmore and G6 Naomi from Moroi (via Viorica, the Shade Emperor). This nest is meant to be a sort of Barghest and Shade Emperor collaboration and this kid is currently on the AH for 400g. Should be some additional hatchlings from the full moon coming soon, but this nest is currently the only opportunity for a hatchling from this pair :)

Do you hear that?
I still remember those words. My friend asked me one night as we sat by the fire. We were up high in the mountains - a trek through uncharted territory that we’d been hired to explore and map. We were far away from civilization, yet the world was anything but silent. There were so many sounds that night - the crackle of smoldering wood and the calls of insects and owls. There was a faint rustling of wind through the pine boughs overhead. I listened, yet none of the sounds to me seemed out of place.
“Hear what?” I questioned, glancing at my friend’s face. Their wide eyes darted to and fro as they swept their gaze towards the dark woods - just past the warm glow of firelight.
Finally, they sighed. “Nothing. It must have been my imagination.” They forced a nervous laugh, staring into the fire. “Just for a moment I thought I heard a song”.
“A- song?”
They shook their head. “My grandmother used to hum it when I was a child. An old lullaby. So strange that I would remember it now”.
I patted their shoulder. “Memories always resurface when you stare for too long into the fire”. That seemed to calm them. “That’s right - a memory. A figment of my imagination.”
-------------
I didn’t think much of the song that evening, but the following night my friend spoke of it again. “I swear- I just swear I can hear it!”
I heard only the call of crickets and the crackle of our fire. “What does it sound like?” I asked, but saw that my friend had closed their eyes and nodded their head slowly as if they were drifting off to that sound only they could hear. I helped them up, guiding them to their tent and tucking them in for the night.
It seemed that they fell asleep right away and I took care of dousing the fire and cleaning our cutlery before climbing into my own tent.
-------------
I was awoken sometime before dawn to a strange sound - a soft melody being hummed just outside. I turned on a light and found my friend standing there in the darkness, their body swaying slightly back and forth. They were humming a strange tune and it took me a moment to realize that they were still asleep. I called their name, shaking them lightly until they finally woke up.
“I was- having such a lovely dream.” They whispered, “although now I can’t quite seem to remember”.
-------------
I kept a close eye on my friend the following nights, but it seemed whenever I slept or tuned my back to them, they would begin to wander as if in a trance. Each time, their sleepwalking took them further off into the woods, chasing after that strange tune that only they could hear. One morning, I woke to find that my friend had disappeared. Their footprints led up into the mountains, lost beneath a blanket of fresh frost on the ground.
I finished mapping the pass through the mountains, but despite my searches, I never found my friend. There are others who claim to hear voices in the mountains - whispers and songs from their past echoed back to them out in that vast wilderness.
I too hear it from time to time - my friend’s voice humming that strange lullaby as I stare into the fire. I dare not look past the light, because that’s always when I see it - something lurking just beyond the glow of the fire. My friend’s eyes stare back, but they are never alone. All those lost to the mountains are part of those beasts now - singing in a symphony of a thousand stolen voices and forever hungry for more.
