Plant Species: I'm trying to ID it, so far I think it might come from a lilac tree!
Interesting/special info about plant: There was a big snow storm here about a week ago, and it broke branches off of many trees. This is a twig I found outside after the storm, and seeing the buds on it made me kind of sad. It had just started to grow, thinking spring was here, only to break off from a sudden snow storm. Now they would never open and see the sun.
That's when I got curious: could a twig's buds unfurl if I put it in water? I brought it inside, found an empty bottle, and placed it where it could get plenty of sweet, sweet sunlight. I've included pictures showing the twig's progress. They are listed chronologically, except the first one with the ID is from today.
After some research, my best guess is that it's from a lilac tree. I was delighted by this because lilacs are my favorite flower! Now I'm hoping with time it'll even bloom those beautiful fragrant flowers I love so much.
