First piece of 2024! … I don’t love it sadly. I’ve been paying more attention lately to my mistakes and trying to find places to improve in all of my pieces, so I might be a tad more cynical as I’m posting these haha. I’m still going to list all my pieces even if I consider them failures, because I want this thread/my tumblr/my deviantart to be an accurate portrayal of my growth. Anyways, here it is! Did a DTDAY! This was my first attempt with a skin and apparel, so it’s a little imperfect but I tried. Color would have taken too long so instead I did just a gradient + shading. I feel I could improve on the shading the most. Some of the apparel I feel is weakly done. I really struggle with fur/manes, and you can see that I think. The wings had a skin on them, and I feel I didn’t adequately draw that. This time I did a fullbody! I struggle with anatomy for fullbodies so this was a true attempt for me. At the moment I’m actually pretty pleased with it, despite some clear anatomical issues. I attempted a new style of shading using more layer filters. In the end I’m happy with the effects and will play with this style more. The character is a Werm (closed species over on CS) owned by me! Did another piece for Bianca! A headshot this time. I used the same techniques as last time to see how it would go on a headshot, and I am pleased with it. I feel I need to work next on eye placement and brow ridge anatomy, since it’s a regular issue I see in my art.
