But the other dragons could not see the ghostly wounds and mocked and shunned her. His gift, which blossomed after his "event" was to become hypersensitive to the barrier that is sometimes understood as death. He is usually accompanied by his animated familiar who he calls Lucky or "My lucky die" but those who play cards with him suspect that if luck is involved it is not good luck. She was, unfortunate in that her initial looks and small size worked against her and was offhandedly offered to the "free apprenticeship" program (ahem, also known as the Ugly Dragon thread) which generally does not allow for much in the way of long term prospects. Despite this her determination pushed her to almost aggressively interview those considering her as a prospect. This might have worked against her, but Ossia, MoonRun's battle master, saw something in her, and took her to train.
