SO MANY SPECIES!
Tropical rainforests cover less than 3% of the planet, yet they are home to more than half our planet’s terrestrial animal species. There are 2.5 million insects, 1,300 species of birds, 3,000 species of fish and 430 different mammals!

(no photo needed) Share an internet picture of a rainforest animal that you think is interesting, and tell us a little bit about it.
MY BUDDY: "jaguars! i used to be obsessed with all interestingly patterned wild cats, so let's talk about jaguars. jaguars belong to the genus panthera, which includes lions, tigers, snow leopards, and leopards. jaguars are the only members of that genus to be native to the americas. their habitat range used to consist of most of latin america, however much of that territory has been reduced due to humans :( while they may look like leopards, they are very different! leopards reside in the desserts and forrest across africa and asia, whereas jaguars only live in the latin american rain forests. leopards have a small rosette pattern. jaguars have much larger rosettes, often with tiny spots inside of them too!"

MY BUDDY: "a remedy is (according to google) "a medicine or treatment for a disease or injury." while it may not be a medicine, it certainly is a treatment. so let me talk about acupuncture! acupuncture is when a licensed professional inserts really tiny needles into certain specific points. it is a form of traditional chinese medicine and has been performed for thousands of years. it is most commonly used as a treatment for pain, such as muscle pain or joint pain. scientists aren't really sure how exactly it works, but some studies have shown that it can help with certain pain conditions. woohoo!"

#45 - How to Help - 20 points
(no photo needed) Share something that we can do to support rainforests or the environment.
MY BUDDY: "if you live pretty far away from the rainforests like we do, then its pretty hard to be directly involved with conservation efforts. but there are many different things that you can do right at your home! one thing that you can do is reducing meat in your diet. you may be thinking, "well how does that help?" not eating as much meat, or not eating meat at all isn't just a topic of ethicality. the beef industry is one of the largest contributors to the deforestation of the amazon rainforest, especially if you're buying your meat from stores in the usa. you don't have to quit beef altogether! buying from local farms or reducing even just a quarter of your meat intake can help make some progress towards saving our world's rainforests"
