TOPIC | The Rose and the Thorn | 1x1
There are those devoted to the Warrior Code, some to a fault...but for two cats the way of the Warrior cat life isn't what they want...
Four clans live by the Warrior code, keeping peace with each other (most of the time). Pebbleclan, Mistclan, Treeclan, and Earthclan have lived in their territories for generations, their traditions set. There have been those cats that have joined the clans, loners and kittypets looking for a new, and sometimes better, life. But there is rarely the cat that wants to leave the clans, to leave the safety and protection it offers. The feeling of companionship and even family that the clan life offers, to know one is safe and will be looked after as they grow old.

It's not just one cat that wants to leave however, to leave everything they know behind. There is an adventure out there, an escape from the code and way of the warrior life. Will they be able to find their destiny, or are they destined to have a role in the clans forever..?

Mistclan

Mistclan one of the more gentler clans, their cats loyal to the warrior code but also willing to offer help to those that need it. Behind their territory runs a river while one side is the start of Pebbleclan territory and the other Earthclan.
Pebbleclan

The cats of Pebbleclan are known to hold grudges. Many a battle has started due to Pebbleclan and their unwillingness to forget the wrongs done to them. Their camp is surrounded on all sides by water, from two streams that break away from the main river that flows from Mistclan into their territory. A rocky path breaks up Mistclan and Pebbleclan.
Earthclan

Located on the other side of Mistclan with a road running down the other side of the territory. Like their namesake the territory is mainly forest, the ground rich. Prey and herbs are plentiful, often causing a few raiding parties from the other clans. These are cats that like to keep to themselves, out of the business of other clans.
Treeclan

The cats of this clan are like birds in a way, often found in the trees rather than down on the ground. Their territory is a bit rocky and can be dangerous in the summer due to snakes. Behind the territory runs a row of houses while a road cuts them off from the other three clans.
Great Rock

The meeting place for all four clans during the full moon. A time of peace when the clans gather. Located at the center of all four clans.
River of Stars

This is where the medicine cats visit to talk with Starclan. Leaders come here to receive their nine lives and apprentices visit before they are made warriors. The river is fast flowing but reflects the stars every night. It's located just beyond Earthclan and Treeclan territory.

Rosebriar was born and raised in Mistclan. Always alert, always strong, both in the physical sense and in will. She was a golden warrior, always the example that kits and apprentices looked up to. The perfect warrior.

But looks are oh so deceiving.

Little did anyone know, she always looked across the rocks, across the water. Her mind wondering and adventuring, Rosebriar always thought about "what if..." She couldn't help it. The mundane everyday life of the clan was just, it haunted her. Her drove her to madness at times. Everything the same, everything awful. From a leader with, to put lightly, questionable ideals, to the same old same old of clan life.

She spoke to her mother, her dear mom only ever having a single kit, and she understood. She suggested finding a mate, but of course Rosebriar was strongly against this. No tom in all of Mistclan was in the slightest bit of interest to her. Maybe there was something wrong with her? But of course "becoming a queen changes so much! You would never regret it!" Oh mother dearest, she knows better than most that Rosebriar was not ever going to be one to sit still. So she continues. Everyday life, every hunt, every patrol, all bleeding and blending into one another. Her only solace were clan meetings at Great Rock. But that wouldn't be for another few nights.

Out on patrol, Rosebriar kept her head down. She unconsciously ventured to the river. The boarder between hers and Pebbleclan. She was daydreaming again. 'I could just run.. who would catch me?' Flicking her tail, she was lost in thought, that is until a fellow warrior's voice cut through the noise.

"Rosebriar! What are you doing?" A large, but sleek tom appeared behind her, bright pale tabby cream colored with light gray tabby points. Not a sight for sore eyes by any means, but such a stickler for rules.

"Huh!?" Rosebriar sat up quickly and turned to see the larger tom. "Oh, uh, just the morning patrol. Checking things out at the river, you know how Pebbleclan gets."

The tom nodded his head, "Yeah, they're a pain alright.. Well good on you for getting so close to the boarder, that's why we need more warriors like you." He smiled at her, proud of her strong warrior values that he thought he saw. "Always willing to go the extra mile!"

"Yep!" She said with a fake, yet convincing smile.

"Well, speaking of great warriors, we need you back at camp. We've got a situations stirring and we need some sense of security. Kits and apprentices are already freaking out. Snailstar is, well, Snailstar and trying to figure out what to do. A clever and clear mind would be appreciated." the tome turned around and began to walk away. Rosebriar, though confused, quickly followed behind. "We have an unwelcomed guest. What to do with him is, well, up in the air." He seemed annoyed. "And I was so looking fowward to a normal day.."

'Thank the STARS it wont be!' Rosebriar thought to herself. 'Finally! Change of pace!

The dark warrior sat in the center of the camp, warriors guarding him. It wasn't like he was going to attack any of them, he was only one cat. Not to mention how unsteady he was on is paws after going a few days without eating. After everything that had happened eating didn't seem important to him.

Grumbling to himself he licked at the scratch on his leg, they didn't have to be so rough when they drug him back to the camp...it wasn't like he had put up a fight. Thistleclaw hadn't meant to stumble onto their territory, he'd just been blindly walking when the cats had ambushed him. By then he had realized his mistake but it was to late to turn back, they had surrounded him and fighting had been out of the question. Though the warriors made sure to give him a few bites and scratches.

Hopefully he would just be exiled, sent away out of their territory like he had been from Pebbleclan. He just needed to be away from the clans and leave his problems behind. Shaking out his matted fur he looked up hoping that Snailstar had made a decision, it was a simple one really. They had no use for him, he hadn't been spying or attacking so he saw no reason why he couldn't be let go.

The tip of his twitch had been twitching, betraying his irritably. He hadn't noticed that a kit had been watching and was sneaking up, not until he felt the tiny thorn like claws in his fur. Hissing Thistleclaw whirled around, baring his fangs at the kit who scrambled back with a shriek of surprise and ran to it's mother. Two warriors that had been watching him leaped, pinning him down in the dirt. "The rumors of Pebbleclan snacking on kits must be true." Sneered the she-cat pushing his face down into the ground. He could do nothing but give out a muffled hiss, knowing the situation would only get worst if he tried to fling her off.
I know ;-; first posts intimidate me, but i will do it tonight!
(No worries! I try to make my first posts have a lot to work with, so you're perfectly fine!) Rosebriar walked into camp his her ears alert as ever. Looking around, she immediately noticed the huddle in the middle. A she-cat with her large paw over the face of a scraggly looking individual. "I see.." she said to Raintail, the tom with her "so that's our unwanted guest then..?" Raintail nodded, "He doesn't seem too much of a threat.." She walked up to the gathering of warriors. "Lilyclaw!" She called out to the aggressive she-cat. "If Snailstar hasn't given an order, I don't think it's best to antagonize any further. Really, you're just wasting your energy.." Lilyclaw scoffed right as Snailstar appeared. He seemed to have a glint in his eye, he surely had an idea brewing. (Feel free to rp as any Mistclan cat! Even Snailstar if you're up for it!)

(Okay :3 )

The warrior sat up as Lilyclaw took her paw and weight off of him. Shaking out his dirty fur he glared at Rosebriar then Snailstar as the Mistclan leader emerged. He didn't need another warrior vouching for him, he could take care of himself.

As their leader emerged the murmuring of the cats died down, all eyes on the tom. Even Stoneleap had emerged from the nursery, her stomach swollen with the kits she would be having any day now. She was a young queen that worried over everything, even now her claws were sinking into the ground, worried eyes on Snailstar.

Thistleclaw held his head high as his eyes met with Snailstar's, he would cower to no leader. Never again would he let cats with a higher rank than him rule his life. Lilyclaw was still near, ready to pounce should he put a hair out of line. He had a feeling she rather enjoyed seeing another cat struggle, watching them squirm helplessly as she went for a killing blow.

The dark warrior shook his head, his imagination getting away from him. The nightmares of that day still haunted him, sending a shiver down his spine despite the heat in the camp as the sun sat in the center of the sky. He had no doubt a few of these cats would rather see him dead, especially once news of what had happened in Pebbleclan spread.

Rosebriar scoffed at the tom. Lilyclaw wasted too much effort on him, after all what is he really worth to the clan? The red she-cat took a seat as she looked up at Snailstar, she felt no intimidation towards him. He was full of himself, had been since his deputy days. All she cared about is what he'll say next.

Meanwhile, Snailstar looked down at the scraggily tom. 'A proud one, seems like. Nothing new. Just as I'd expect. We'll see how proud he is by the end of this.' he thought as he smiled to himself.

"Mistclan!" he shouted in a strong and clear voice. He was young, with only one life lost in his reign as Leader. "As you all may have noticed, we have encountered an intruder. A foolish Pebbleclan Warrior within our boarders!" He sat down with his chest puffed up, "But a lone one at that! The audacity for his clan to intrude! As you all know, our next gathering at Great Rock will take place in only three nights!" Snailstar's expression became darker as he continued "And if it's a fight they want, they will receive it.." He then looked over at the tom "Starting with this one. He will be held captive here. Only my strongest warriors will keep guard. Shifts will be decided by out Deputy, but we will start with Rosebriar."

The clan made their opinions known. They seemed to almost rejoice at this new prospect, Raintail even nudged Rosebriar in joy, "Look at that!" He said with a smile, "Moving on up in the clan with big responsibilities. I expected nothing less." She faked a smile, but felt sick on the inside. The thought alone of something so mundane felt like a curse.

"Rosebriar! If you would escort our guest to his new living situation?" Snailstar ordered, "The old nursery would work just find for the kit." She nodded as she moved to go over to the Pebbleclan warrior.
