Not long after he was born, a fae named Poison had appeared out of nowhere, saying that the half of the tribe in the Ancients’ Coliseum were stuck there with no way out. Since then, life had been chaotic, what with everyone trying to figure out a way to help them. The bogsneak that was their best clue had remained silent, which made things worse. The skydancer kept his eyes closed as he swam. If he opened them, there was the risk of seeing a dream, and he didn’t want to deal with one. They weren’t like normal dreams. They usually involved the Tribe in some way, and they always played out in real life. It was as if he could see the future - not that he’d told anyone. If he had, they probably would have added to his load by asking him to look into the Tribe in the Coliseum. Nevermind that he didn’t know how to focus on specific people or places. Unfortunately, August’s senses were dulled underwater and he crashed into a pillar, making him wince and open his eyes reflexively. Thankfully, this time, there was no dream. “Thank Tidelord,” he sighed, and kicked at the stone pillar. Stupid thing had scared him for a moment. He’d never asked for the dreams. Or at least - if he was going to have them, why couldn’t he just decide when they came to him? It was tiring. As he turned around, intending to return to the caves they’d claimed as their home for the while, something caught the skydancer’s eye. A white structure, somewhat overgrown with seaweed and kelp growing on its side. The marble had dulled slightly and there was no roof, as it appeared to have been ripped off by something. Most likely the frequent tidal waves that often came to the Tsunami Flats. What confused him the most, though, was the fact that it seemed to have been built on dry land, but was submerged in water. Since the Tidelord had disappeared, the water levels in the Flats had gone down, leaving the sea more open to the winds from the Windswept Plateau, which was what caused the tsunamis. Intrigued, August dived towards the structure, and quickly became impressed with the quality and design of the place. Yes, the marble had dulled, and yes, it appeared overgrown and out of place from a distance, but upon a closer look it was clearly shaped and meant to be this way. It seemed as though all the elements were connected here, somehow, not unlike the power that stood at each of the deities' homes. August weaved between the submerged pillars, brushing his claws against the soft weeds that grew at the bed of the structure, diving deeper within the temple. For once, he was glad that his element was water, and he could breathe while submerged. It didn’t take long before he reached an altar, standing on its own with shattered orbs scattered around it. As well-kept as the structure was, the temple obviously was abandoned and not in use anymore. It made the skydancer wonder why anyone would take care of it. August stopped and took up one of the broken orbs in his claw - a deep red one, bubbling the water with a sick stench, as if it were causing death to those around it. “Drop it.” Surprised, he did, and turned to see who’s voice he’d heard. There was no one in sight - either whoever had said it was too small for him to see, or he’d simply imagined it. “That orb harnesses pure plague magic and concentrates it. It’ll make you sick, and will kill anyone who isn’t of plague affinity. Even then, the dragon will fall badly ill. The same goes for all the other orbs, just with different elements. Don’t touch them, if you value your life.” “Who are you?” August asked. He was curious. How did the voice know what he was doing, what the orbs did, and why was it here? He knew that curiosity wasn’t always a good thing, but it didn’t stop him. “I am the caretaker of this place. I keep it clean, and I make sure that nobody comes to harm while visiting. It’s been a while since I’ve seen someone, true. You are welcome to stay as long as you want.” ----- < Previous ___________________________ Next > ----- Laia, Elena and Ichi went at it in the coli today. August dived into the salty pool, hoping to find relief from all the stress.
