TOPIC | The Dragon Puppeteer [1x1 Ghostifique]

[ Alright, here's that starter! And have some music to set the mood~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfLr33rbZGA ]

Rumors had spread that there were strange occurrences within these winding woods. Dragons have disappeared upon entering and haven't been heard of since. Others have tried venturing forth to go find the missing dragons, but even they have disappeared. Some dragons have returned with these strange woods, but come out with no memory of having gone in. Something was definitely afoot, and whatever it was, it wasn't normal.

There was a light mist that floated throughout the area of these woods, drifting ominously, seeming to be your regular o' mist, but there was something about it that the earthy-toned Coatl felt was odd about it. These whole woods felt odd. He could sense something amiss here, but he couldn't pinpoint what it was. All he knew is that something was causing this.

With a deep breath, Garrrieth prepped himself up and started to make his way in. He was fully prepared, and had a number of supplies just in case they were needed as he ventured into these mysterious woods. The same fate could happen to him, so he had to be at the utmost caution to not fall like the others before him. Or return without any memory of this place, but he had dealt with strange dangers before. Things one normally wouldn't get themselves into. He had eyes and ears in places most didn't, and he had his way of handling these kind of situations.

He just hopes no other dragon foolishly wanders in here as well, or has already wandered in. Especially with the rumors going around, it was best to avoid this place. And most have, from what he heard.

But for now, he proceeds with great diligence.

@WindRiders ((Nice choice of music!))

Atticus looked over the roughly-drawn map in front of him, eyeing the pathways and roads he usually took. He made this new map for this one occasion and he hoped it was correct.

Now, he stood at the edge of the forest he wanted to explore. The rumors spread like wildfire through his clan and he finally had the courage to venture out and possibly find out what exactly was happening. It was thought that some kind of weird disturbance was inside these woods and took other curious dragons away for good, never to return home. This was lightly put, according to a messenger in his clan, but Atticus was wary about believing the rumors. He wanted to know what kind of force could just 'take away' a dragon so suddenly.

Atticus wasn't usually one to do something adventurous but tried to prepare as best as possible with items and food. He had his trusted, and very old, satchel with him, and he bundled up the map and placed it inside sloppily. A cool wind blew past the area, sweeping the leaves, crackling the twigs, and gently swayed his mane of hair. Chills ran up his spine. His senses were going wild at the thought of danger and now an eerie feeling in the pit of his stomach made him want to leave. He didn't even know how to properly enter a place like this, full of unknown dangers, and could only rely on his ability to tip-toe around enough to stay quiet. Atticus briefly questioned if merely staying quiet would keep him safe. Or if anything at all could keep him safe...

Atticus stepped forward and pushed the negative thoughts away. He stared into the trees, calming himself. I'm going to do this, he thought to himself.

The time had come to face his fear.

These whole woods seemed mystifying to the point where it felt relaxed, welcoming, and even nice to be in. Maybe even, safe. Though Garrrieth decided against those feelings. As peaceful as these woods may seem, he had a feeling that the nice atmospheric scene was part of what lured other dragons into their doom. What lead them to put down their guard and then disappear into the unknown. He did not want to fall into that same fate.

The gentle rustling of the leaves against the wind sounded like wind chimes playing, but was he hearing things? Or was his feathered ears really catching on to the sounds of these woods? Perhaps it was a sign of the the strange occurrences going on within these woods. He hears someone else approaching, his eyes quickly dart towards the source behind him before making quick haste to hide behind some trees and bushes for coverage. Thankfully his colors helped him blend in more.

Garrrieth lies in wait, remaining both still and silent, but keep on high alert as he watches and listens for any sound. He waits until he sees another approaching dragon. An Imperial, colored of white and purple. Seeming how they carried themselves, along with the gear they had with them, they too seem to be here due to the rumors. And just by looking at them, they didn't appear to be the source of the disappearances.

"It's not wise to venture forth."

The words are shot out first before Garrrieth steps out, making his presence known. "Best be back on your way from where you came from."

Steps inside the forest began to calm him, and he thought of his short time here as an accomplishment already. All seemed well, and the rustling winds were beginning to change in tones. Suddenly this forest didn't seem too bad.

But Atticus had barely paid attention to the environment around him other than the forest itself. Any attention given was limited to strictly the trees around him as if a ghost might rush out at any second. He never thought to scout the area for others and didn't entertain the idea as a possibility. Atticus was very much into the moment as he remembered the warnings of his friends.

When the voice of the stranger broke the silence, Atticus was greatly startled. He dug his claws into the dirt as he jumped, and his wings froze stiffly in place.

"Erm," He began to gather himself, looking over the Coatl before him. "Do you... live here?" The warning from the Coatl seemed to be in vain. Atticus had been too surprised to comprehend the sentences.

Caught by surprise, and yet he had no intention of scaring him. Though he was aware of his sudden appearance could frighten anyone if they weren't paying much attention. It seemed like a good thing he had done so though, because he felt.... Something in the air at work here. The Imperial seemed to be in a daze, a bit too relaxed in their walk through the woods, and he gets the feeling that this area had some kind of luring/trance effect on any lost traveler. The sound of the winds against the leaves sounding like wind-chimes gave him that idea.

"Heh, alarmed?" He tries to make himself appear non-threatening, as to not make the other dragon uncomfortable. "Can't say I do, but I'm guessing you've came here because of the rumors, huh?" Garrrieth turns to look deeper into the woods, and then scans the leaves above. It's gentle, it's calm.... It's strange.

"I don't want to see another dragon wandering off into the unknown and add to the missing dragon count." The Coatl lets out a deep breath and returns his attention back to the Imperial. "Whatever is going on around here isn't normal, I can feel it." Call it a sixth sense, if you will. Or his knack of dealing with troublesome situations had led him to be quite aware of his surroundings and use to these kind of things.

However, as the two dragons spoke, a gentle wind carrying leaves blew through them. Much like a gentle phantom touch, and as soon as it passes and blows in the direction of the trees, the 'wind-chimes' play again, but this time it sounds like bamboo wind-chimes clanking against each other. Garrrieth watched as the wind carried the leaves, and did not trust it. Were these woods listening? He wasn't sure.

Atticus nodded, and he realized this other dragon wasn't a threat. How convenient it was to find another dragon here for the same reason as he. When the wind blew again, he too heard to chimes from somewhere close. The stranger was right- there was definitely something weird going on.

"I wanted to see what was going on," He started, "My clan was buzzing with gossip. I didn't believe until I got here." Atticus shifted in place and then sat. Though the Coatl didn't appear to want to hurt him, he couldn't help but stay on guard. The eerieness around them was unnerving, distracting him from his usual rational thought.

"So which direction are you going?" Atticus asked.
