Why? Why was this happening to them? They had done nothing to deserve this!

AngelOfDeath looked upon Chamo, taking in his fat, flabby frame. Disgusting. They were...Bogsneaks. The most horrid-looking of all dragons. Even being a Snapper was better than this!

Chamo buried his snout in his large clawed paws. Shadowbinder, he had actual claws! And teeth! Natural weapons, things he'd never had! He knew at one time AngelOfDeath had been a Tundra but he...he had always been Fae...

The large white Bogsneak--they did not know her name, she was foreign to them, new--watched them as they wailed and writhed in their new bodies. How could she stand to be like this? Did she not yearn to flit about on the breeze? It was impossible now with such cumbersome bodies!

AngelOfDeath cried into her paws, imagining how Mother would react. Would she recoil in disgust? Scream at them? Abandon them?

She was grateful Mother was not here to see this. To see the downfall of her two favorite children.

Snatcher ripped the scroll from Shade's twitching paws. Terror engulfed the female Fae, her back crushed to the far wall of her hidden treasure den. "They deserved it!" she screeched in justification. "I told you no. You still did it," Chrome said. Snatcher handed over the scroll. The breed-change scroll that Chrome had had Shade fetch for him months ago. The key to regaining his true shape. "I'll be using this now. Act against me and the safety of this clan again, Shade, and you will not get off so lightly," Chrome declared, leaving the cavern. Snatcher followed him out, banner flaring dramatically over his wing as he went. Shade watched them go with wide eyes. Frightened. Snatcher and Chrome went deep into the forest, hidden within the dark pines and glowing mushrooms. There Chrome opened the scroll and used it. Snatcher watched as his companion's body warped and twisted into something massive. A Guardian. "You may call me Crest, Snatcher. For that is who I really am," the Guardian stated. "Crest." The name felt right on Snatcher's tongue. "What now?"

King's heart grew heavy as Iggy carefully took away the bodies to bury them. It had been so long, over a year since the last deaths. He had hoped, perhaps foolishly, that the nightmare was over. He honestly should've known better. Such hopes had burned him before.

In the wake of death, fresh life entered the lair. Nimbus and Kokoa welcomed three tiny Fae into their lives, however short lived it may be. His last mate, Abby from the lair of @animatedrose , was long gone now. He missed her dearly, though he was happy to have fallen for a new love. Kokoa, once an Imperial, had grown used to life as a Fae now. Sometimes she still dreamed of her majestic old self...but pining for the past rarely rewarded her. Being in the present, on the other hand, had done a lot. It had netted her a mate and three beautiful Fae children. "Concentra, Partita, and Vendicci," she decided, naming them. "Beautiful," Nimbus said, cooing to the hatchlings. Kokoa tried not to think of what could happen in five days, when these cute babies were grown and ready to leave the nest. When the monster would swoop in to steal them away from her. She tried very hard to ignore that eventuality. She nuzzled her hatchlings close and trilled. Nimbus fed them, oblivious.

Tail flicking as his red eyes gaze up at his prisoner. Amused. Manic still hung from the burning bark, wings singed. Her eye was still missing, covered up to avoid infection. It wasn't much fun when your prisoner expired before the main event. "Smile, Manic," he prompted, grinning with all of his sharp teeth. "After all, there will be children here soon." The white Fae spat in disgust, squirming in her binds. Nuzlocke cackled, the Imperial's gaze drifting down. Down to his ultimate prize. Two eggs, Shadow flight eggs, sat in the dirt at his paws. The result of the twisted union between himself and the crazed Manic. It had been a battle but Nuzlocke was proud to have won. He was curious to see what these hatchlings would look like. He was curious to see if these hatchlings would indulge in the hunt with him. Or join their fellows in the Soul Tree with the rest of Manic's broken offspring.

It had been a long, hard journey...but they finally did it. Two hours of vicious, endless battling in the Kelp Beds finally netted Banana her next level. Their break from the Coliseum had caused her to forget how difficult it was the grow stronger once you passed Level 20.

But she was determined to hit that max level. To join Dewdrop and Dreamweaver on that powerful pedestal.

She was working on strengthening her own magic. Learning not only to heal...but to fight. She would learn to fight powerfully on her own two feet, if she ever needed to.

She was determined!

Partita had watched as her sister Concerta and brother Vendicci fell to the creatures in the Training Field. Her heart yearned for her mother and father. She didn't understand at all.

Why were they here?

The Miths were the worst. There were so many and they all hit so hard once they gathered enough Breath to hurt the newly-grown Fae. A Luna Mith had taken Concerta from her. A Primrose Mith did in Vendicci.

And now Partita found herself against something new.

Chipskinks, one blue, one red. Regular and Bluelight. She was particularly afraid of the blue one. They both hit so hard and fast, tearing at her with their sharp claws. Chittering to each other, like it was a game. They were trying to rip her wings off.

Partita was scared. She could feel blood staining her purple scales. She was running out of Breath and she couldn't Meditate fast enough to regain it. Not when the Chipskinks could attack every turn, not needing Breath to slay her.

The young Fae sunk to the ground, out of Breath. Out of stamina. Out of...willpower. The Chipskinks moved in, claws gleaning, chittering in joy. They had won.

Partita closed her eyes and welcomed her end. Eager to return to her siblings.

Basil held his paws over his ears, trying to drown out the loud wails of Dewdrop and Clarence. His mate Dreamweaver was with the crying Spiral, trying to comfort her. Which left her Fae mate alone to care for their freshly hatched brood. Two Mirrors, one male and one female, and a Fae. The Mirrors looked rather unremarkable...until you saw Merry, the young female's, eyes. Clarence, in all of his years, had never seen such goat-like eyes before. Watermelon stripes clashed against his cherub-patterned white scales. He was rather a sight to see. The young male Mirror had...nothing overly remarkable about him compared to his siblings. Perhaps he was being too judgmental. They were just hatchlings, barely aware of their own lives. Best to leave the judgment for when they grow...if they survived that long...

Hypo and Merry were both so much bigger and stronger. They hit harder and faster. Their sharp claws tore their Coliseum opponents to pieces while he sat back, trying to gather his Breath up to join the fray. Now he was alone. His Mirror siblings had been taken out, leaving him behind. Was it his fault? Had his weakness and his magical abilities caused all of this? If he had been torn with sharp claws like them, would he have been able to prevent their deaths? Zebruh didn't know. What he did now was that this Luna Mith was a problem...but it was nearly gone. He expelled another burst of Breath, smiling as the bipedal insect crumpled to the ground. Dead. Success. Perhaps, in hindsight, he shouldn't have celebrated. Shouldn't have turned his back to the wilderness, seeking out the torn bodies of his larger siblings. Maybe then he would've seen the Frosted Pocketmouse leap from the grass, claws set to rip his wings from his body... Nuzlocke suffered no such problem. He turned away from the carnage to seek out his next victims.
