His frame barely illuminated by the lantern the fae at the front was carrying, the crystals in the wildclaws armour attempting to give off a hint of reflection. “Because bores, of any kind, are active during night. You want to go and search every bush in this forest? be my guest but I ain’t wasting time. This bore was found around a week ago and the attacks have died down, I fear the poor sod is running out of time.” Maru said, slightly annoyed at her escorts whining. The fae on Marus head gave her a sympathetic look while holding their brightly lit staf. Geo had been on missions with Gjall several times and knew by now that he always had something to be displeased about. “Be grateful they didn’t send Akop too, we wouldn’t be able to have a normal conversation around here” They whispered to the guardian. “Hrmp” Maru simply huffed with an accompanying eyeroll. Gjall gave Maru an angry glare, unseen by any of the two of course, but kept his mouth shut for now. None of them would start the bickery discussion he subconsciously wanted. The trio continued their search quietly, following the borderline between shadow and earth. The new moon didn’t bring much light to the scenery so there wasn’t much to see except the few meters which was illuminated by the faes staff. The three knew however that the big pine trees from shadow where rather small and formed in funny ways at this part of the border. The strong winds that swept across the earthen savannah forced the trees to grow in shapes sometimes resembling a silly straw. The guardian appreciated it though as the forest was far easier to navigate than your usual shadow forest. The reason to why the featherback bore chose this area was rather weird though. Bores liked dense forests with much cover and lots of roots to fig up, here however the ground was rough, more stone than soil and resembled more a coastal area than a dense inland habitat. The telltale sound of branches breaking in half and forceful movement though bush made Maru snap back to the present. Gjall had already positioned himself in front of the guardian and Geo dimmed down the l8ight as to hide their frames and make it easier for Gjalls eyes to adjust in case he had to spring into action. “Easy now tough guy I’m just not having a smooth night” A soft voice called from behind a bush as it rustled a little more. “Gods, can’t you do some kind of signal when you rejoin us?” The wildclaw huffed, easing up on his battle position. “Mmmhm sure I’ll start screaming “KA-KAA” when I’m half a kilometer away, that’ll not allert anything to us, not at all” The figure said as Geos light brightened and lit up the way for the Pearlcatcher. “You know I didn’t mean it like that” Gjall said with a wrinkled brow. “And you know you should know better than to try and start bickering with me” Dunny countered while she walked past the wildclaw. She gave Maru a polite nod and the party continued. “Found anything?” geo asked before Maru could voice her thoughts. “No, sorry. Found something barely resembling a sleeping spot but it was far to small for the size we're looking for. There’s an old temple some hours away tho, some people still leave food there as offering to the shadowbringer. We might try looking there?” Dunny said while trotting beside the guardian. “Sounds like a good lead, how long are “ a few hours?”” The bigger female asked. “If we pick up the pace a little we’ll be there by sunrise, could camp there over the day, talk to the locals and search the following night” The pearlcatcher said. “Yeah great but aren’t we in a hurry??” Gjall quipped in, still annoyed that everyone seemed to ignore or ridicule him. “ In a hurry, yes. That’s we don’t waste time with searching during the day” Maru said, this time in a very matter of factly voice, shutting up Gjall immediately. Turning her attention back towards Dunny the guardian continued. “ It’s a sound plan, I’d say we take it” @solarsalutation ((AAnd that’s the start, feel free to let our gang meet up whenever you feel the timing is right ;-) ))

“Hrmp” Maru simply huffed with an accompanying eyeroll.

Gjall gave Maru an angry glare, unseen by any of the two of course, but kept his mouth shut for now. None of them would start the bickery discussion he subconsciously wanted.

Gjall had already positioned himself in front of the guardian and Geo dimmed down the l8ight as to hide their frames and make it easier for Gjalls eyes to adjust in case he had to spring into action.

"Are we going too far in? Plagueland doesn't put up a fight for me, but here you might need to do some more pushing of your own if I can't charge in fast enough to help you." She tried to make out the near distance in hopes that it would have less obstacles, but the forest blended into the darkness, obstructing any silhouette of the future path.

"Don't worry about it. I know the territory. Planned out all the safer paths to take, we shouldn't be getting hit by anything hardcore here. It's just past this route."

"Alright."

The two dragons progressed in tandem as Lenka tried to tactically place every step to ensure minimal disruption to the environment. Her movements are far slower than normal, having to squeeze through all those trees. Abyssus breathes a sigh of relief- He can finally keep up with the giant warrior's walking pace without growing tired.

Lenka stops dead in her tracks, planting all four legs onto the ground. She lifts her head, towering in an alert stance. Abyssus cranes towards her, curious- It's rare for her to wear an urgent expression like this. "What? Do you see something?"

"Where's Avynne?" She twists her neck around to scope out the skies. "I don't see her lamplight."

A bat-like figure flutters past a nearby tree and lands next to the worried dragons. "Hi! I'm here, don't worry! I'm trying to relight the flame, but can't find anything. When can I start charting the territory?"

Lenka's gaze softened again and the Abyssus's crest sails relaxed. "Keep close. I can't jump to your aid as quickly here, and you know Abyssus isn't keen on flying. Stay within a range we can keep you safe, please." The shadow dragon gave a confirmatory nod.

"Alright... but I want to sleep. I'm tired."

"Fine. Go ahead and rest on my back. We can't just stop here." She flattened the spikes on the back of her neck in hopes it would be less intimidating. The Nocturne climbed up and placed herself upon the armor cheerfully, seemingly unaffected by the spiky scales around the perimeter of Lenka's back.

The two dragons resumed their trek along the landscape, guided by Abyssus's eyes and blue, flickering tongue. Fortunately, Lenka's wings and armor kept Avynne from falling off during her twister session with the flora as she attempted to move forward.

"Is it true that you can only go pick it up at night? Why can't we just rest up and go during the day? That way, I could fly over and move in quickly. I don't like having to dance through these trees."

He gave another sigh. "There's no other way. I can't find it under sunlight. It interferes with my ability to track it."

"Let's just hope we don't have to fight something huge."
