No. But, kind of yes? It didn't used to be a nickname, it had originally just been a username. But, I've been using it for so long now (Like seriously, 15+ years), that it's become one. I will (and have) answer to it if used in real life. Like for example, a very good friend of mine whom I met online years ago, after having met in real life, we went to Disney World together. I wandered toward something shiny, she hollers at me, and I didn't respond. But when she hollered "Hey Velg!" I turned around immediately without even realizing it lol.
I actually have gotten more than just a little mad on the rare occasions where I join a site, and my username is already taken (very rare, but has happened). It is a part of me now D;
