Chess looked over the required ingredients - he had already used the Heartred Croaker Leg earlier in the week so he knew he’d have to prepare it in a different way. Hmm… perhaps a surf and turf and air platter (ingredients from earth, sea, and sky) with a side garden salad. He’d use only ingredients found in Wind’s territory and would go back to his specialty: creating meals flexible to different tastes. Chess started looking for other Wind-sourced foods to use in the meal. He was going to go all out for his final effort. Ah, a Golden Reefprince. Bloodstone did say to try to impress her and there was no better ingredient for that. Golden Rainbow Trout would go with that perfectly and add the Windy seafood element he needed for his concept. Now for the salad - he grabbed bright, colorful ingredients with flavors that would complement each other and work well with the Bamboo: Jasmine, Red Emperor Tulip, and Pinwheel Paddies. He also took some “secret spices” from the pantry as well to flavor the proteins - he glanced around to make sure no one saw what he took. [item=squall seeker] [item=heartred croaker leg] [item=bamboo leaves] [item=golden reefprince] [item=golden rainbow trout] [item=Jasmine] [item=Red Emperor Tulip] [item=pinwheel paddies] [item=gliding ant] [item=strawberry] [item=charged duneberry] [item=Greenstripe Amaranth][item=sweet grass] He went back to his station and began the cleaning and prep work needed, paying extra attention to the Squall Seeker. The meat and seafood was generously dusted with his specialty rub, then put in the oven to roast. While that was cooking, Chess made a quick vinaigrette, using Seaberries as the main ingredient, to serve as the dressing for his Windy Garden Salad. He tossed some of the Gliding Ants in his versatile rub and put them in the oven to toast; they would serve as a crunchy component in his salad (for those dragons that chose to use them). Having worked extremely efficiently today, Chess amazingly had some time left before the judges arrived. He eyed his entry critically - it would be his big finale for this festival, after all, and seemed incomplete without a dessert. He had been eyeing the perfectly ripe Strawberries for some time and decided to use them along with Charged Duneberries to create a simple dessert: Berry Shortcake. He whipped up a simple shortcake using ground Greenstripe Amaranth (ironic, considering it was usually skipped in favor of dessert) and Sweet Grass. His final touch was homemade whipped cream, which reminded him of fluffy clouds, to serve on top of the berries and cake. Wow - Chess stared at all his dishes: the Surf and Turf and Air main course with the side Windy Garden Salad with Seaberry Vinaigrette and (optional) crunchy bug croutons plus the Berry Shortcake dessert. He was proud of all he had accomplished today - the previous days’ competitions had really helped him hone his skills. Perhaps he went a little extreme this time - it was enough food for a feast! Ah, well, it had been an exciting week of competition and this was his last chance to impress the judges. No matter the results, however, he had a fantastic time and a truly memorable Mistral Jamboree.

It had been fun, but all things come to an end. He'd just have to make a bigger meal to make up for it. He checked over his ingredients - all significant in some way, so keeping them separate would be best. First, he prepared the Squall Seeker, stripping it of its feathers, rubbing it in a small amount of crushed Wild Mustard, and placing it in a shallow dish of Vegetable Oil to brown. Once that was finished, he removed the bird and put the Wild Onion in the same dish to cook. After a few tosses of the pan, he put the Squall Seeker back in breast-side up and put it in the oven to roast. Next were the Heartred Croaker Legs. First, he prepared the marinade - Vegetable Oil, Wild Onion, and Wild Mustard were all mixed together and a small portion set aside for later. He separated the legs at the knee and put them in a baking dish. The marinade was poured on top, and the legs were put in a cooler to marinate. Bog then took the Bamboo Leaves and threw them into a saucepan full of Vegetable Oil and a bit of pepper. He tossed it a few times to combine it all, covered it for a few minutes, and tossed again until all of the liquid had evaporated. Once the leaves were set aside, he trotted to the grille and put on the Heartred Croaker Legs, turning them until they were evenly cooked. Now to put everything together. Bog took the Squall Seeker out of the oven and put it on a plate, and the Bamboo Leaves were nestled beside it in a little pile. He sprinkled some crushed Amaranth on top for some added crunch and laid the Heartred Croaker Legs on top. Bog drizzled the leftover marinade on top and stepped back, satisfied. "Perfect for the last day~" he crowed, lips spread in a grin. It may or may not be the best dish, but it had been a lot of fun! ((Thanks for hosting this event! It was fun, and I learned a lot about cooking obscure ingredients, haha.))

Mmmmm, coco. Good any time of year! And the cayenne pepper and cinnamon must add an interesting flavor depth to it. I'm going to have to try this one, since I have something of a thing for those myself. :D

Thank you for entering, and good luck on this, the last day of the Mistral Jamboree!

They sure smelled good.

Jupiter and Glory paused at the Snack Counter and considered the few items. They had come to the Mistral Jubilee in search of new feather ornamentation. However, they could not resist the challenge. As tundras, they felt that they knew all there was to know about bamboo. "We are going to show you how to make a great drink," said Jupiter, sounding rather boastful. Glory sounded just as proud. "And we are going to make the the cups as well." Her statement might have continued if at that moment if the other dragons had not started sneezing from the floating, shed tundra hair. Embarrassed, the two decide that action is better than words. Jupiter quickly pulls up six tender Bamboo Plants and strips off the leaves. He tosses them to Glory who starts twisting them into mugs. At this point, the cloud of hair becomes almost too much to handle and the others back away. Hidden in the middle of the fur blizzard, Jupiter quickly peels the bamboo and chomps the remainder of the stalks, allowing the juice to flow out of his mouth into the mugs. Likewise obscured, Glory quickly grabs the Heartred Crocker legs and likewise chomps, making a face at the non vegetarianism taste. The juice in the mugs is then quickly mixed with the feathers from a squall seeker. The two taste the result and make faces. This will not do! Even the small hint of blood is revolting. They consult together, and Jupiter backs away from the work space. As the dust settles, there is only one tundra! Glory is seen, carefully stirring with the black squall seeker feathers. And with that, the Snack Bar is officially closed! The judges are currently discussing if we want to extend the cooking contest out a few more days to the end of the month, so until you see @KomodoKumquat or @Kickback officially announce it, feel free to squeak a last minute entry in if you want.

Judging will commence as soon as we get that worked out, and a link for judging the people's choice will be posted when the official closing is announced (be it today or later).
