so i was breeding for a thread called stock the pond and i got this pair

i bred them expecting to get almost any color but the first litter seems to be very similar? and i wanted to see if im viewing the color range wrong because i thought ice is the top of the range and pearl is the bottom of the range so theoretically i should get everything inbetween? let me know if this is incorrect as im very confused from their first litter

The color wheel is just that—a wheel! See the wiki for a full size version of the wheel:

The color range of a pair is the shortest distance between them. That's why Stock the Pond has you pick an XXX dragon and then get an XXX mate for them that is opposite on the color wheel—you can find a link to a spreadsheet with a list in the first post, in the first bullet under Rules of the Game!
Since there's 177 colors, there's no "true" opposite with an equal number of colors on either side of the wheel, which is why the spreadsheet lists clockwise (CW) and counterclockwise (CCW) opposites; you can dictate which side of the wheel the offspring will fall on by choosing the CW opposite or the CCW opposite for the mate.

The color wheel is a wheel and it takes the SHORTEST arc between colors to get the range:

It's not possible to get "full circle" of color by choosing colors close to each other. The mos you can get is just under half by choosing color on opposite sides of each other.
Given that it doesn't matter where on it you start as long as the other half of the pair is on the other side. Pick at least one dragon whose colors you like and then see what's on the other side.
If you want the widest range possible this spreadsheet shows the furthest colour from each one so you don't have to count color segments:

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.
Have you checked the
Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in
5g?

ahhh thank you both! i was viewing it as flat strip from the scrying workshop instead of as a wheel this makes a lot more sense i was misunderstanding and just assumed any xxx that was far enough away from each other would work this clears it up a lot more thank you!
