The width of an image that would fit in a forum signature is 525 pixels and the height is 100 pixels without columns... And I think 90 pixels with columns though I'm not sure.
This image is the size of an image that'd fit without being cut off without using the columns BBCode! Feel free to save it if you don't want to input the canvas size manually.
If you want, you can also resize an image to fit on here as well (I wouldn't stretch it out though). I suggest using columns if you want text after the image. Just use the 90 pixel height for images instead if you decide to do that, and make sure the image won't push the text off the side of the signature.
