TOPIC | Should you keep your progenitors?
I am pretty new to this site, have joined quite a long ago but I only began to be active on it recently and I got curious about one thing

Progenitors.

They are made like a big deal, but mine are terrible. I have a couple of Faes and they have very bland boring colors. I stopped using them as soon as I got some better-looking dragons from the Auction House.

I thought about exalting them, but from what I found, you neither get domination points nor do you get any treasure.

Is there any use of them? Can I make them better looking at least? Is it considered wrong to exalt them?

Again, still learning about this site, sorry if the question seems basic, I am accepting all the helpful tips that I can find right now.

Whether you exalt them is up to you, really. I kept my custom and exalted my random progen and got my custom a new mate that actually fits them (with less atrocious colours). You can always gene or even scatterscroll them to try for better colours (but a scatterscroll is completely random - every colour is different usually, unless you're really lucky). But if you just want to chuck them for lairspace, you can always do that too! You can restore them any time you like if you change your mind!

@Glitchibo

Don't feel like you have to keep them.

People tend to attribute value to them because your custom progen is the only one you can control the look of (minus the tertiary colour) but since you can't sell them, they aren't really valuable as such. Exalting them shouldn't be too big a deal.

If you change your mind down the line, you can just restore them.

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.

Have you checked the Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in 5g?

If you decide to keep them, you can always gene them up. It might be expensive, but it could make them look a lot less boring and bland. Here are some examples of what you could do: ^ This dragon has the following genes: Iridescent, Bee, Underbelly. ^ This dragon has the following genes: Wasp, Hex, Peacock. It also has a breed change, which can be found in the marketplace along with most genes. If you mean that they just have bad colors in general, then you can always consider buying a scatterscroll. I wouldn't recommend it, however, since it's totally unpredictable as to what you can get. It costs a lot of money. If you really don't want them, you can exalt them. You can get them back if you end up wanting to keep them, so they're not permanently lost. Hope this helped a little! You can also try placing them into your hibernal den. You don't have to feed them or see them in your lair when they're in the den. It also gives you more lair space (only for the amount of dragons put into the den), but you can't do much to them if you wanted to. They also have a 30 day cooldown when taken out, I believe.

it's a matter of personal preference-- i personally center most of my experience on this site around collecting and gening first generation dragons, so i've kept mine and they've been a project of mine for years. there's no like... benefit? to keeping them or getting rid of them, but i personally value them sentimentally as my first dragons, and they've been an interesting challenge in trying to make them pretty. in regards to the scatterscroll comment above, i scattered both of my progens and miraculously got two lemon XYYs for both of them, so it's not always a bust! (though i won't pretend that my results weren't extremely lucky haha) so really, it's up to you if having project dragons is something you're interested in, or if you don't mind having them sit in your lair looking maybe not so pretty... but if they don't have any value for you, then there's not really any benefits to keeping them? i personally wouldn't exalt mine, but i recognize that everyone sort of creates their own experience on this site, so it depends on what you're looking to get out of it i guess. hope this was helpful?

@Glitchibo I think it's cool that your progens have a matching secondary color. Nox especially seems to be pretty workable. Dew's a bit more challenging because of Goldenrod, but that tert will match some highlight colors: There's always apparel, too. Fiddling around with outfits can help you get a feel for what you want to do with a dragon. That second point is honestly why I like my random progen more that my custom one.
