TOPIC | Removing genes? (answered)
What do the remove primary/secondary/tertiary gene scrolls actually do? For example, if I had a dragon that was tiger/eye spots/crackle and I didn't like the crackle, would the remove tertiary gene scroll get rid of the crackle and make it basic again, or completely remove the possibility of having a tertiary gene? Also, if it just makes the gene basic again, why would someone use that instead of just buying the gene scroll they want to change it to (i.e. spines scroll to change crackle into spines)?

Hello @carsonphillips! All a Remove Gene Scroll does is remove the gene and return the primary/secondary/tertiary selected to Basic. It's not permanent. Some players don't want a gene sometimes and prefer how Basic looks. It's not overly popular, I think, but it gets some use.

@JCStitches Okay, thank you! That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure.

@carsonphillips for an example, it's usually mostly used to remove unwanted terts! i've had dragons whose tert colours were good for breeding, but looked atrocious on the dragon itself. in which case, i've used remove tertiary scrolls to change the gene back to basic (and therefore, invisible)

@carsonphillips

I've used them for dragons who I really, really want to get a certain gene for in the future, but they look so hideous with the gene they have now that it makes me want to cry. And for dragons where I like Basic better than any of the gene possibilities.

@carsonphillips

Just bear in mind that the market value for a dragon with a basic gene tends to drop. A lot of people will not buy a dragon unless its TG (triple gened), even if its the dragon they're after in some cases.
