TOPIC | invert keepers?
I keep whichever local critters need help at a given moment. Majority of the time it's local mantises who are either elderly or injured.

This lass below, for example, was missing one of her tibia when I found her. Not the kind of ailment that would be survivable in the wild, so me and my partner took her home and cared for her until she died of old age about half a year later on Christmas.

Sometimes it's other creatures.
Here, for example, is my favorite little girl ever — a violet carpenter bee. I found her crawling near a local construction site with a damaged wing. Without flight it would be game over for her anyway, so I took her home and provided her with fresh food, shelter and relative comfort until the end of her natural lifespan.

This baby just needed shelter. Local authorities came in the middle of winter and destroyed the tree outside our windows that had a carpenter bee hive (and her egg) in it. I found her, took her in, and cared for the egg until she was ready to hatch and fly away. So, in a way I guess I'm a proud mother now, lol.

I can go on, but you get the gist of it. I do keep invertebrates, but in more of a... uh, nursing home way, I guess?

@WHDE - oh cool, I haven't checked my parameters in a while beyond having two thermometers on the glass, but it seems good enough :')

I have a loach (used to have three, then two...), and the plants came with at least one tiny snail but I think the loach(es) ate it too (unless it's still hiding somewhere), they eat a variety of things and I guess they wanted a salad! The plants had pretty thin leaves, maybe I will try another kind, but I'm scared of more snails coming with them.

My tank is a 20 gallon high/tall, the listing says about 24"x17"x13". I wanted to go bigger for the loaches (I think I got them in a 10 gal), and they'd probably prefer the wide for more space as bottom-dwellers, but I don't have too much space/weight capacity where they're kept.

I hope you can learn to identify your shrimps and have names for them all :)

The log is just a note on my phone where I write the date of the latest sighting (two days ago), I don't even keep track of previous sightings but it's often a couple weeks.

Hmm, I know it's bit off-topic but have you tried tissue cultured plants? They're grown in the labs so totally snail free c: Some of them might require some time to adapt in the tank, but you can safely add plants for your tank. Mines are tissue cultured too!

Oh you have loaches? They must be so cute! x3

Hehe and thank you for the wishes! I can't wait to get some cute little shrimp guys <3

@WHDE - I think I heard about them but either my local pet supply shop didn't have any or they were quite expensive. Did you get yours in a store or online?

I love the tiny eels, hehe.

Please update when you get them!

Oh you're right, they're more expensive in general. But worth the price imo as they're also germ-free! c: I got mine online.

Sure, I'll update when I got them! x3
