TOPIC | Live Action Minecraft Movie
I am excited to see it because it has so many piglins. I love piglins so much and a full movie full of them! I am in heaven. ♥ I would love to have pigstep in there too, but that would be too much to wish for. I am not looking forward to it. I feel like I'm curious enough to watch it just to see what happens in it, but I also don't want to do that because theatres are already expensive enough these days. Even after Minecon, I don't see anything that interests me enough to really want to go and see it.

I'm glad that, at least in the Minecon footage, they really did show that the people working on this movie really do care about Minecraft. I felt like the very first teaser trailer was your average company slop made by execs who don't understand the core of Minecraft. I still sorta feel that way, but I feel like this train is too far down the track that I'm not sure what changes could be made to make it feel better.

I don't like the visuals, but props to the set designers because I really enjoyed seeing some details of the house in the Minecon Live part. The visuals on the Overworld and Nether are very good, and what I would expect. But the mobs and live action actors put me off, and I don't know if I can really get over that. The costuming also doesn't scream Minecraft to me, but I can forgive that on the main characters who came through the portal. As for Steve, I feel like there could have been a bit more effort. When I saw Jack Black in the trailer I did NOT think he looked like Steve at all.

I think the good news is that this is A Minecraft Movie. Not THE Minecraft Movie. I believe that title is intentional. Minecraft is a game where there are thousands of stories that have been told. It's unfair to have just one movie, or TV show, or anything like that because Minecraft is just so vast and wonderous. Minecraft fan content is some of the best that I've seen, and that will never come to an end as long as people keep playing Minecraft. So while this might not be the Minecraft movie players really wanted, it's likely not going to destroy the reputation of Minecraft as a whole.

several days ago mojang dropped a snippet which extends that part of the teaser where momoa crafts something random and honestly i feel like i WAS too harsh on the teaser, haha. the fact that it was indeed a butchered craft by design and "steve" said "it's ok, buckets are actually useful here" was a pleasant thing to see

but man... jack black just doesn't work as steve minecraft and that clip really solidified that for me. i know it's most likely a me problem, so ughh don't look at it as a genuine critique, but i'd just much more prefer to see him be reserved and tough and more on the quiet side rather than that extra cartoonish persona. yeah i guess it wouldn't be that "entertaining" but damn minecraft was never about bright colors and loud sounds, was it? it always had more of a calm and melancholic tone to it, like, have you ever read the end poem...?? listened to the soundtrack, maybe?....

still super upset it's live action with random (sorry) celebs

Stardust Sap Lamp hey! got a minute?
tell me about your favorite childhood movie!
It just would’ve been so much cheaper, if they had just made it look like normal Minecraft. ITS PIXELS! Pixel art can be impressive, and hard to make and all that, but I guarantee you those current visuals costed why too much for what they’re actually worth. No offense to the poor animators to had to work on this movie. If the directors had just ask to use the models IN THE GAME, or heck, even go down the Minecraft story mode route, it would’ve been SO MUCH BETTER and CHEAPER! More people would’ve watched it I bet. Especially to the children who probably watch bunches of those Minecraft animations that are being made on YT. I know it’s trying to cater to children, but children are watching great stuff like Bluey nowadays. That show is BEAUTIFUL even tho their characters are so blocky. So much potential, and smart decision making was missed sometime during the creation of this movie. I just hope whatever story it’s trying to tell is actually good, for the sake of people who are going to watch it for the sake of keeping their kids entertained.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I might be biased cuz I'm an animation student, but live action is the WRONG way to go for Minecraft, and I think the animals are solid proof of that. That sheep?? No. Also, the round humans just look really out of place in the world, and they don't match the two block tall scaling that Steve and Alex do. I truly believe it would have been significantly better if they had decided to animate this instead of trying to make it live action. There is plenty of evidence of animated versions being superior out on the market already. (I could rant about Disney's "live action" remakes but that's for a different time and place.) idk maybe I'm reading too much into this but I feel like the whole live action thing is a symptom of people feeling like animation can't be real cinema, even when live action actively works against the thing by ruining Minecraft's signature style
