Haven't seen anyone mention Yu-Gi-Oh! so I will. The dragons are just amazing. Some simpler and cuter, some super strong and scary. Some are important to the lore and can talk, others are like pets. I don't think I'd love this franchise as much as I do if there were no dragons in it.
EDIT: nvm someone DID mention YGO but can't hurt to mention it again<3

Kazul, king of the dragons. She's awesome.
edit:
How about some more info? xD Sorry.
Kazul is one of the main characters in a series of books by Patricia C. Wrede, the first of which is called Dealing With Dragons. Kazul takes on the mantle of "King" of the dragons which is why she could be female. And she had a princess she was supposed to abduct but the princess wanted to go. The wackiness went on from there. I don't remember much about the books (I don't think I read them since the 90s) but I did love them and think that any youth/young adult would like it if they like a book that pushes the boundaries of social and other norms. :)

I can't believe no one has mentioned this guy.

Design-wise, he's fairly typical as far as dragons go, but he makes up for it with personality.
Go watch Dragonheart, everyone. It's a 1996 movie with CGI that somehow still holds up.
