Lately I’ve been really interested in the furry community and think I may be one. Do y’all have any advice for someone joining the community? How did y’all come up with fursonas? (Also please feel free to share your fursonas, I think they are all so cool to look at!)

It took me a long time to agree on a fursona, and she went through many design changes. Fursona making is super fun and you can always change your sona if you're sick of the design. My sona has had 3 different designs so far. Here she is now!

I don't have a lot of advice but one tip is, since the furry fandom has quite a few... odd people (if you know what I mean,) I recommend being cautious on social media or in discord servers when communicating with some of them. Most furries are actually really nice people, but within every fandom there will always be a group of people that is best to avoid.
There are a lot of artists in the furry community! If you want a fursona but are struggling to draw it or design it, you could work with an artist to help you out. My fursona is a fluffy dragon, she doesn't really look much like a dragon compared to most popular depictions of them. I prefer fur over scales, so why not? You could do the same with your fursona, it doesn't have to look like any specific animal if you don't want it to. Just mix and match some fun traits!

find local groups in yr area!!! stay away from amino, make a twitter/instagram for furry stuff :]

as with any online or irl community, be cautious meeting new people. that being said there are a lot of super nice and amazingly creative people in the furry community!
id start off with small (but still well moderated) cons and discord servers. twitter and insta are also great places to meet new furs and see what people in the community are creating.
