One that makes me sad for different reasons is Kaylune; it was a rather basic but very pretty quest-driven pet site I played a lot in 2015-2016, but it shut down a couple years back due to lack of funds. [emoji=spiral sad size=1]

Aw man, I remember Kaylune. I didn't stay on very long because my pet didn't like the toys I had for it. It's sad to hear that it shut down, even if I did leave it.

For me, every day is World Kindness Day.

My longest-lived account besides FR is on Chickensmoothie, and that account is pretty much dead at this point. I dropped Beastkeeper only after two months because everything was so unclear. Felisfire felt like a chore and a barebones text adventure for the time that I spent there. There was this other one that I joined in beta or after that I think used shards for currency. Although, you could get them from posting on forums, which only encouraged spamming. The other ways to get them were really boring minigames like a Flappy Bird clone that used a paper airplane. In my experience, a lot of the sites weren't worth my time because mechanics are either really boring and grindy or are never explained thoroughly. It seems to happen with a lot of pet sims for whatever reason, kind of a shame there's nothing nearly as fleshed out as FR.

I'm going to be honest, I often disappear from Flight Rising a lot. Though I always seem to somehow come back here even if I've been missing for months, on one occasion, even a year. I just get bored on here sometimes, as my dragons look the way I want them, my projects are done, etc. However, this is probably one of the very few petsims I'll actually get back to once I have left for a while. I'll come back, see the new things, create new projects, succeed them, eventually disappear again, repeat.
Petsims in general I can have troubles sticking to at times. I love the genre, and it makes a good time waster for when I'm bored, but lack that extra time to do bigger irl projects. Though many factors can make me drop a sim and never come back to it.
Chickensmoothie I played for a few years, but I ended up leaving because there just wasn't much to do and after some time, the site just felt outdated.
FurryPaws was another I had left due to similar reason. Felt outdated, not much to do, and the community wasn't too nice as everyone pretty much thought that they were a professional on dogs.
There was one I can't remember the name of, but it was like FurryPaws, but instead it was rabbits. Community was more pleasant, game had some better features, but it just didn't stick with me for some reason.
Lioden was one I had actually played for a while. I didn't like lions, they just weren't my thing, but I stayed for the mechanics and the many different things I could do. I left for 2 reasons, but a big reason was that the community was turning really toxic.
Wolvden is actually the other reason why I left Lioden. I didn't like lions, so the idea of similar mechanics with an animal that I cared about more really excited me. So I applied for Beta Testing, got accepted, and now have a nice foundation in the game. The game is really new, so it needs fleshing out, but I'm enjoying it, and people are actually doing pretty good about keeping the toxicity cut out.

The shard one sounds like Tattered Weave, which I also lost interest in fairly quickly, mostly due to monotony rather than anything else.

Hey, friendly reminder to drink water, stretch, and take a short break if you can. Stay healthy! Also, don't forget about any chores or tasks you might be putting off.
i mostly play FR and chickensmoothie these says (willing to trade, for those of you selling your CS things, dm me~). been on CS since '09. i love the site too much to leave, and i have the most fun here. but i'm looking for another pet site to play.
the sites i played and left were neopets, subeta, and wajas. neopets was my start to virtual pets. had a lot of fun there until i grew out of it. kinda same with subeta. had a bit of fun with the art style, but didn't like the way the game is set up. then wajas just feels stiff. it's difficult to get currency, and it's nearly impossible to get good results from breeding. there are several games i started and quit after only a week or two, can't remember any of them.
i remember trying for two years to get onto valley of unicorns, only to find there's barely a game there. so unfortunate. i'll try my luck with a few sites you all have mentioned. thank you <3

Furvilla is one i haven't seen on here-does that count? it's a nice concept, but the plain-ish characters weren't my style, and i got bored. i reaallly regret trading an april 1st familiar for currency on there rip
chicken smoothie doesn't offer much. I enjoy going on for events & new pets, organizing all the pets, and creating dressups! Some of the pet designs are really pretty. there just isn't much to do on there. the forums are so bland and carefully regulated- i don't feel like i'm interacting with others at all. i never really got the oekaki, either. trading became terrible. everyone is always begging for someone to give them a trade for the currency, which is premium, and no one wants to buy from you, even if your prices are ridiculously cheap. there's a lot of nice people, though! there's goods and bads :)
what's wrong with goatlings, btw? i haven't played in months, and no one wants any of my stuff ;-;

I think the only petsim i've truly left was Pokeheroes. (I lost my password) I don't remember much from it, but i know i had fun. Sometimes i look back at my old profile, my bio would be considered cringy by some but i think it's kinda cute looking back, lol.
I used to be really into chicken smoothie, but god, it really doesn't offer very much. I joined before i turned 13 so forums and everything were off the table for me. I really liked it back then though, but going back to it 6 or so years later, it just can't manage to catch my attention like it used to. i do log on occasionally to pick up pets but thats it. maybe every 6 months or so, lol.
I play lioden too sometimes, but i'm not really active. I actually don't love lions, i just like the events haha. The community though is toxic so i don't interact, naturally.
wolvden is cool too i just don't have the time [emoji=gaoler deadpan size=1]
i've been playing flight rising for a consistent 3 years and i adore it.

Yes, oh yes.
I joined a site called Valley of Unicorns before I even knew Flight Rising existed. I joined just as one of the events was about to start and I instantly fell in love with the place - the horses were gorgeous, the events were spaced just enough to not be overwhelming but you still really looked forward to them, new releases were relatively frequent, the player numbers were big enough to feel like a full site but small enough to not feel lost amongst the masses.
It was a good place, but then everything changed.
The staff was always small, but then the last one left in the middle of judging a contest and the only staff left was the founder of the site. When it became clear they weren't coming back, players suggested getting new staff and the founder shot that down completely, not even volunteer staff. That should've been a red flag, but idiot like I am, I stayed.
Then she started changing things. Without the other staff to at least temper her plans, she just...did what she wanted, regardless of what the players said.
New releases stopped happening outside of events. Then events got canned completely with a promise of "eventually coming back". Three years later, nothing. Prizes from previous events still not given out. Glitches everywhere. The breeding system completely broken. The "easy to get" game currency became difficult to get after the best way to get it was removed, which shot the prices up and skyrocketed the in-game:premium currency ratios...then the premium currency was removed.
The site is now basically a ghost town, with the few players left trading everything for other sites. Myself included, and that genuinely hurt because some of those horses I literally spent months saving up for and more months waiting for someone to actually sell them. I kept a handful of things I truly love, but aside from breeding there is literally nothing to do on there anymore, so now I am stuck trying to get rid of the things I no longer want but can't because of how few people still play. I've had more in-game currency offers than other site offers, but what's the point of getting currency for a site you're leaving...?

VoU was one of the first pet sites that i ever played. it's hard for me to not think about the good old times from years ago when the events were fun and the community was engaging. i didn't know about the whole changing thing that happened (staff leaving and K making decisions by herself) because i was on a hiatus. i thought it was just a "everything will get better in due time" kind of thing, which never happened. i am still hoping for like a miraculous revival of the site (if that's even possible) but it doesn't look like it'll ever happen, especially when K has made it clear that VoU is just a side project of hers.
i haven't gotten around to trying to sell/trade my stuff for other sites because the Sales and Trades forum just seems so dead, but best of luck to you selling.

ahh, Webkinz...I played that game so much as a kid, but everything being locked behind a Premium membership kinda more than a little ruined it for me. So many things I was used to being able to do suddenly I had to pay a monthly fee for. Miss me with that.

I was a part of OG Neopets back in third grade. 2001 - 2003 before the viacom takeover was the glory years. I went back on and off through the 2010s buuuuut the mandatory art change made it I never stayed on it like I did as a kid.
I'm back on flight rising for the third time, mainly as a distraction from real world stress. I joined other petsites in the early 2010s but its been so long that I've forgotten their names
